Come on Obama. No need to sink to McCain’s level to win this election.

Oops!… Obama Camp Caught Scrubbing Its “Fight the Smears” Webpage on ACORN

The Obama Campaign privately updated its “Fight the Smears” webpage this week after it was discovered that they had not been telling the truth about Barack Obama’s extensive ties to the radical ACORN organization.

The Obama Campaign claimed that Barack was never an ACORN trainer and that he was not associated with ACORN in 1992:

• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992

But, after the Cleveland Leader discovered archived documents that proved that Obama did indeed work as a trainer for ACORN and work with ACORN in 1992, the Obama Camp scrubbed the webpage with new “facts”.

What’s radical about voter fraud? I thought it was just criminal? This group is getting a good looking at in what? Ten states?

They also got a lot of poor people loans they couldn’t pay off from groups now being bailed out. Nothing wrong with that. I’m sure most of the people posting here approve after all their intentions were good. It was just the actions and results that stink.

Somebody once said that people get the kind of government they desirve. If so we are most unworthy.

  2. #35 – Brenda Lee

    >>I’ll post it again…still waiting…

Ho-hum. Yeah, we read the article in Reverend Moon’s paper by Faux Spews pundit Michael Barone. Ho-hum. If that’s the worst example of “thugocracy” they can come up with, they ought to start looking to themselves for better examples.

The only thing of any interest at all is the threat of libel prosecution against those who knowingly tell lies in public about Obama.

    According to the law:

If a public figure brings a civil libel lawsuit against an individual or a group, then s/he has to prove to a civil jury (usually nine out of twelve jurors) that a preponderance of the evidence (i.e. it is more likely than not) shows that the defendant(s) knowingly said or wrote something factually incorrect about the plaintiff(s).

If a prosecutorial authority brings criminal libel charges against a defendant on behalf of a plaintiff, as McCulloch and Joyce are threatening to do, then the prosecutor has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to twelve out of twelve jurors that the defendant knowingly said or wrote something factually incorrect about the defendant.

I can see how that might upset McBush supporters, who routinely engage in knowing promulgation of factually inaccurate statements about their opponents.

TFB. As Beretta used to say, “Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time”.

  3. Greg Allen says:

You need to create an “irrelevant noise” meter for the Dvorak blog, similar to their BS meter.

This post would get a high rating.

So what? Their website got a minor detail wrong about something fifteen years ago related to a irrelevant fake hyped-up issue.

It’s just more GOP noise to coincide with the ethics ruling against Sarah Palin.

  4. Paddy-O says:

ACORN registered Mickey Mouse to vote in the Florida election.

Omama, the Mickey Mouse candidate. LOL!

  5. freddybobs68k says:

    @ #35

    The answer is simple.

    1) Its not great.

    2) But at its _worst_ it’s no worse than what the Rove Republicans have been doing for years.

And and whilst I’m at it, the Ayers thing is just tragic. I mean that’s the worst dirt they have. The implications that are being drawn from what is basically nothing other than an acquaintance. People pushing that should be embarrassed.

The Acorn thing is similarly weak. And how that some how ties him to the economic crash. What were the Republicans doing for the last 8 years…. ?! Great economic leadership?

And then theres Katrina. WMD. Bin Laden… and I could go on.

So we are back to pathetic mud slinging. I’d say it was a new low – but the Swift boat thing was pretty low.

The important stuff is what they intend to do and if you believe they can and will make it happen.

With McCain it appears based on what he has said (other than the maverick/change rubbish) – more of the same. And yeah I believe he can execute more of that. But that’s really not what America or the world needs.

With Obama – he has some actual ideas and policies which may make life better for the majority of Americans, and will improve Americas place in the world. Can he make that happen? Do you know what, I really don’t know. Its going to be a damn side harder to make it happen than more of the same.

Still whatever he achieves it seems highly unlikely to be worse than more of the same.

If you believe ‘more of the same’ will be superior than Obamas proposition in principal, I can only assume you

    1) a mindless Republican supporter
    2) a fundamentalist Christian
    3) incredibly rich
    4) a war monger
    5) a racist
    6) mad
    7) all or some combination of the above

If you believe McCain won’t be more of the same, well then perhaps you have some point I can’t see. Fair play. But for the life of me I can’t see a difference.

  6. #38 – O’Pinocchio

    >>ACORN registered Mickey Mouse to vote in the
    >>Florida election.

Oh boy. If you believe that ACORN was behind that charade (based on the report from “America’s Election HQ” at Faux Spews, you’re even dumber than I thought.

Are you really asserting that an organization that, according to you, is involved in a concerted effort to commit election fraud by illegally registering voters, would send in a registration form for MICKEY MOUSE?

That’s even too stupid for Rove’s band of thugs to be involved in. It was probably some of those toothless wonders showing up at McBush/ Palin rallies, calling for Obama The Arab’s head to be cut off. In between slugs from the jar of homebrew moonshine.

Mickey Mouse. Jesus. You ARE an imbecile.

  7. Pmitchell says:

Is Mr mustard actually able to give a response with out his little side gags of faux news , dumbya , repugs
It appears to me Mr mustard you are not answering the question you are only trying to impugn the source ( a common lib tactic when the source is correct) I have yet to see you answer a single fact brought up in this article all you can say is it doesn’t really matter he lied and did so multiple times, but wasn’t it you that spent pages on here ranting about WMD’s and President Bush Lying and how bad that was and he he deserved to be impeached for lying but now since it is your Lib contender it is ok because he is the great liberal messiah

ohh how shallow your morals run when liberalism is envolved

  8. #41 – Paulio Mitchelli

    >>It appears to me Mr mustard you are not
    >>answering the question you are only trying to
    >>impugn the source

But the source is so impugnable!

And what’s “the question”? I reviewed all of Brenda Lee’s messages, and other than repeated posting of a link to the Moonie paper (and sighing, waiting for an “answer”), I don’t see any question posed.

I addressed the issues in the newspaper article. Most of them are dismissable as wishful thinking or parroting bogus unfounded claims made by the Republican Party faithful.

The only thing of any note the author mentioned was the threat of libel prosecution. And they (the prosecutors) correctly interpreted the law in that regard.

Or are you suggesting that the Repubs should feel free to knowingly make false and disparaging claims against Obama? I realize that a prohibition on such behavior would pretty much shut down the McCain campaign. TFB. They should have selected candidates that had some positive message to put forth, rather than relying on whisper-down-the-lane rumors about “Omama” (or is that (“BabyBama”? “Osama”??) being a Muslim, or an Arab, or a terrorist.

  9. Pmitchell says:

and as usual you didn’t answer a thing did Obama lie, yes he did just like he lied about the preacher and it appears he lied about Ayres.
you are still impugning the source and facing the fact the the messiah lied and is caught dead to rights in that lie

do I think it will make a difference. No the press is so in the tank for this guy he can do anything and they will either not report it or tell the public it is a good thing.

I am now simply waiting to spend at least 3 years going I told you so when the messiah screws the country and everyone in it

  10. #45 – Paulio Mitchelli

    >>and as usual you didn’t answer a thing did
    >>Obama lie, yes he did just like he lied about
    >>the preacher and it appears he lied about
    >>Ayres.

You’re starting to sound deranged, Paulio. Take some deep breaths.

I didn’t see any “questions” posed that needed to be answered; just FUD from an avowed right-wing pundit in a cult newspaper.

    I did address them, however.

    1) Obama didn’t lie
    2) Obama didn’t lie about the preacher
    3) Obama didn’t lie about Ayres

Anything else you’d like me to clear up for ya?

  11. Jim S says:

Seriously?!?! Has no one got anything better to do today? This is nonsense people, don’t get sucked in. Someone is trying a little to hard to make issues out of nothing, obviously these people are unreasonable… just ignore them. There is so much wrong with this story… its like a crazy person babbling on a street corner… just walk away.

  12. #45 – Mitchelli

    >>I am now simply waiting to spend at least 3
    >>years going I told you so

More like 16 years, at least. 8 years of Obama, 8 years of Biden.

And you can bleat “I told you so” as loudly as you care to. People will dismiss you then, just as they dismiss you now. Your credibility is about at the same level as Bush’s approval rating.

  13. Rob says:

Either of these men come with a lot of baggage, but I believe we will see Barry Obama win this one in November.

That said, I wonder what will happen to this site when there is no reason for the spirited political discourse, when the world is perfect and there is no Republican administration or Republican controlled Congress to get in the way of real progress, when our elected figures can be trusted.

Yes, I am being sarcastic, and it is easy to lambaste the Repubs as they have provided a lot of fodder. But I am worried when I see so many people embrace a man who has so little real experience. I’m not saying that voting against McCain is not a valid reason to go with Obama. I’m just worried that too much stock is being put into his being elected at any cost.

Just getting rid of the Republicans is not the answer and I have worries about a man who we know very little about, has limited political experience, has depended on questionable relations backing him, has a selective memory and (with the help of a co-operative Congress) could tax my business right out of existence. These are very real worries and they did not come from any “right wing” media source.

So vote McCain or vote Obama and we’ll all meet up here this time next year. My bet is that right wingers will be bitching about the Dems and Mr. Mustard will be explaining to us all how even with the Executive and Legislative branches under Democtrat control, Barry can’t get anything done because he’ll still be digging us out of our Republican created mess.

There is always a reason–there is always an excuse…

Except for starting wars, approving covert ops, spying on the public, writing secret orders, pissing off foreigners just because, appointing Supremes who can negate or legislate as they please until they die, etc, the Prez has little power.

This is a far more damning article about ACORN:

    http://www.city-journal.org/html/13_2_acorns_nutty_regime.html

  18. comhcinc says:

“Acorn verifies the legitimacy of every registration its canvassers collect. If they can’t authenticate the registration, or it’s incomplete or questionable in other ways, they flag that form as problematic (“fraudulent”, “incomplete”, et cetera). They then hand in all registration forms, even the problematic ones, to elections officials, as they are required to do by law. In almost every case where you’ve heard about fraud by Acorn, it’s because Acorn itself notified officials about the fraud that’s been perpetrated on them by rogue canvassers. Most officials who run to the media screaming “Acorn is committing fraud” know all of the above but don’t bother to share those facts with the media they’ve run to. None of this is about voter fraud. None of it. Where any fraud has occurred, it’s voter registration fraud and has resulted in exactly zero fraudulent votes.

You’ll hear that Donald Duck, Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy, Mickey Mouse and (new this year) the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys football team have all had fraudulent registrations submitted in their names. That’s true. And we know this, why? Because Acorn told officials about it when they followed the law and turned in those registrations, flagged as fraudulent.

What you won’t hear is that federal law requires anybody who does not register to vote in person at the county office to show an ID when they go to vote the first time. So, unless Donald Duck shows up with his ID, he won’t be voting this November. You needn’t worry, no matter how much even John McCain himself cynically and dishonorably tries to mislead you.”

Hmm. That might be an idea worth exploring. Does a suburb really need 15,000 more McMansions, with Harper Valley PTA dipshits driving their Humpers and their Naggravators to work, school, the grocery store, and restaurants?

And they want businesses to pay a LIVING WAGE? What kind of commie pinko fag shit is that?? The balls of these people! Imagine! Thinking that you could actually live on the money that you make from your job! What kind of fairy dust have they been snorting? Tens of thousands of eligible voters in at least six swing states have been removed from the rolls or have been blocked from registering in ways that appear to violate federal law, according to a review of state records and Social Security data by The New York Times.

Officials of the Social Security Administration, presented with those numbers, said they were far too high to be cases where names were not in state databases. They said the data seem to represent a violation of federal law and the contract the states signed with the agency to use the database.

Last week, after the inquiry by The Times, Michael J. Astrue, the commissioner of the Social Security Administration, alerted the Justice Department to the problem and sent letters to election officials in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Nevada, North Carolina and Ohio. The letters ask the officials to ensure that they are complying with federal law.

    Source: NYT, Oct 9.

As RFK and I report, there are only about SIX voters found guilty of federal voting fraud in a year. SiX! Out of 178 million registered voters.

So the GOP (and Fox and CNN) are running stories about ACORN signing up zillions of illegal voters. Yep, there are a handful of phony names – but ‘Mary Poppins’ has never shown up to vote.

However, the Republican cry of ‘Vote Fraud!’ has become the cover for purges and challenges to legal voters by the millions.

I even tracked down and filmed some of these so-called fraudulent voters handed me from a GOP list. Every one was a legal voter.

Fired prosecutor David Iglesias told us something astonishing: He said that he was fired because he refused to arrest innocent citizens for voter fraud that didn’t happen. That’s obstruction of justice. It was all about creating a hysteria over fraudulent voters that didn’t exist.

This is what Iglesias basically said: “They wanted some splashy pre-election indictments [Rove and the RNC] that would scare these alleged hordes of illegal voters away.” Only the voters were legal.

If YOU have a point to make, then make it. Posting a link and telling people “Hey, go read this” does not give us YOUR opinion. If you can’t write out your own thoughts in a coherent manner, then don’t post.

Hey! That’s what the Nazi’s wanted to do — force the businesses to do things their way.

You keep proving my point over and over, MM.

The first duty of every citizen must be to work mentally or physically. No individual shall do any work that offends against the interest of the community to the benefit of all.

We demand the creation and maintenance of a sound middle-class, the immediate communalization of large stores which will be rented cheaply to small tradespeople, and the strongest consideration must be given to ensure that small traders shall deliver the supplies needed by the State, the provinces and municipalities.
