Here’s the cover.

This is hilarious! You just can’t make this crap up.

  1. #60 – Dallas,

    Minor correction: Beauty Queen Wannabe. I don’t believe she actually won.

  2. Mr. Fusion says:

    #54, no axe,

    in theory powers are not given to the people, the constitution gives very specific limited power from the people to the federal government.

    Actually no. The Constitution of the United States lays out the ground rules for our government. The rules are general and only specific when referring to specific instances such as defining “Treason”

    Paddy-O, (AKA Cow-Paddy because of his constant stream of bull-shit) posted a little while ago that it is unconstitutional for Congress to regulate CEOs wages. Since that time I have challenged him where in the Constitution that is written. To date he hasn’t answered. If you read the Constitution the authority IS there.

    Article 1, Sec. 8, Cl. 3,
    To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

    Therefore any business operating interstate may be regulated by Congress. That includes every bank and mortgage company currently lining up for a bailout.

    *

    In fact the founding fathers never gave the govenment the ability to tax wages let alone control them.

    How about : Article 1, Sec. 8, Cl. 1

    The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

    and you could add the 16th Amendment,
    The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

    That was added later to allow the Government to institute progressive tax rates. Even though most people agree that the wording of cl. 1 allows for progressive taxation, this does allay the opposite argument constantly put forward by Libertarians.

    *

    In fact we probably shouldn’t have an airforce without a constitutional amendment delegating such power.

    You show a very poor reading comprehension level.

    Article 1, Sec. 8, Cl. 14,
    To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

    Unless you also insist we would also need a Constitutional amendment to have a submarine force?

    By the way, Ron Paul isn’t going to be the next President.

  3. Mr. Fusion says:

    #60, Dallas,

    Palin had a huge booger in her nose and it was Photoshopped out.

    Ya, McCain sure knows how to pick ’em.

    (geeze, I couldn’t resist)

    BTW, she got second place as I recall. She might have won if she bothered to trim her ‘stache first. The Judges were quite impressed with her talent of the “Farting Hand in the Armpit” routine.

  4. grog says:

    i don’t get it.

    if they retouched her, the right would scream that they’re treating her like a sex object.

    whatever.

    she’s a very photogenic, attractive woman, who happens to be running for vice president.

  5. #16 – Grog

    >>she’s a very photogenic, attractive woman

    Well. If that isn’t qualification enough to be “one heartbeat away from the presidency”, I don’t know what is!!

  6. QB says:

    I looked at the linked version. I thought it was a pretty cool and attractive picture of her.

    I think they have a point about the “and that’s the problem” comment – but then I haven’t read the article.

  7. #62 – Mr. Fusion,

    By the way, Ron Paul isn’t going to be the next President.

    Shhh!!! I think he has an excellent shot at the presidency.

    (I also think he can play the part for the repugnicans that Nader played for the democraps in 2000. Besides, perhaps someone would actually take note of, and be impressed by, a large turnout in the vote for “none of the above”, so even if he doesn’t get in, perhaps people can vote for him and make a strong statement. Did I mention he might take votes away from the Cadaver/Palin/Pelosi ticket?)

  8. Mr. Fusion, says:

    #67, Scott,

    Palin and Pelosi on the same ticket? I really shudder to think of what the platform looks like.

    Pelosi and Cadaver? Ya, after the election they will both be history.

  9. I took a peek at the Palin cover in the library today. They’re right; she doesn’t look as good from 3″ away as she does from 30 yards.

    Tee hee!

    She better watch out nobody grabs her by the hair of her chinny chin chin. Or by that cute little moustache.

  10. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

    It just occurred to me that if Sarah Palin were elected V.P. and god forbid ascended to the presidency, that would make her face eligible to one day be engraved on U.S. currency. So the question is, would the portrait artists at the Treasury Department be equally intransigent as Newsweek, refusing to retouch her image before putting her face on American money?
