Next up, DNA testing of gum left under desks to catch the little bastards who left it!

A Monroe mother claims her daughter was among a group of girls who were strip-searched by teachers at school after money went missing.

Several parents filed police reports last week alleging at least one female teacher from Trinity Lutheran School in Monroe strip-searched a group of seventh-grade girls when $42 was reported missing from a student.

“They treat criminals like that, not 12-year-old innocent children,” said mother Martha Feller.

Feller said the school staff acted on the principal’s orders.

“Some were taken down to their bra and panties and some had to pull their tops out and shake them,” said Feller.

The next day, the school’s principal, John Hilken, issued a letter admitting to parents that he acted in bad judgment, and should not have subjected the girls to this type of search.

Police said they have received three complaints from parents who feel an apology is not enough.

  1. JimD says:

Should STRIP-SEARCH THE PRINCIPLE, INCLUDING CAVITIES, IN FRONT OF ENTIRE SCHOOL !!!

  2. Johnnycanuk says:

Principals should be allowed to discipline, not be the police. This is more than bad judgment, it is stupid. He should resign or be fired.

  3. smartalix says:

This is more of the growing culture of control, kiddies. Soon we won’t even notice we have no freedom left. Our kids are getting indoctrinated to follow the demands of authorities no matter the situation or sense.

  4. Ranger007 says:

If the government (TSA) can search your skivvies at the airport, in front of all other passengers, making everyone (even those not flying) feel ‘safer’, why shouldn’t school officials feel they can do the same?

And, in the big picture, why shouldn’t they. It is to make us all feel safer, isn’t it?

  5. Self Appointed Genius says:

You’d think after a few of these incidents every year, schools would realize that every time it happens the public demands blood in return.

  6. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

People apparently lose their brains when they get angry, like this teacher.

…when I was a kid I had friends who attended this school.

  7. “Some were taken down to their bra and panties and some had to pull their tops out and shake them,” said Feller.

“pull their tops out and shake them”? wtf does that mean? Is that some kind of Palin-speak for getting a look at the girls’ jubblies?

  8. Dave W says:

Nothing particularly new here. Schools are like prisons and the students like prisoners. It was the same decades ago. As a matter of fact, I seem to recall having to strip and shower with other students, daily, without any crime investigation whatsoever. It was called PE.

  9. grog says:

    dear conservative voter,

there are no needs for civil liberties, they only protect criminals.

this could never happen to your daughter.

    thanks for your unquestioning support.

    sincerely,

    john mccain

  10. Rick Cain says:

When I was in school the very FIRST thing any school officials did was call your parents.

That alone was more than enough to keep me in line. I got in trouble ONCE, oh man….

  11. dvdchris says:

#8, there is a difference between segregated group showering for hygiene and subjecting students to strip searches on the basis that they are suspected thieves.
If the situation was that serious, the police should have been called instead of deciding to strip search 12 year old girls.

  12. Nimby says:

    # 2 Johnnycanuk said “This is more than bad judgment, it is stupid. He should resign or be fired.”

Personally, I think this falls under child abuse laws and possibly a sex offense. His resignation should not be accepted. He must be fired and hopefully arrested. His accomplices, who actually performed the search, should have known better. No “following orders” defense, please. Let them all rot in jail.

  13. Bonehead says:

Everyone involved should be criminally charged with sexual assault on a minor.

Maybe then we can say crap like that doesn’t happen here.
