The American people continue to be viewed more positively than their country, with majorities in 14 of 23 countries having a favorable opinion of Americans, including at least 70% of those surveyed by Pew in South Korea, Lebanon, Poland and Britain. By comparison, only eight countries have a favorable opinion of the United States. Significant gaps between favorability for Americans and the U.S. exist, especially in Western Europe. For example, while only 31% of Germans have a positive view of the U.S., 55% have a favorable opinion of Americans. Similarly, just 42% in France take a positive view of the U.S., but nearly two-thirds (64%) see the American people in a favorable light. In the Latin American and African countries in the survey, however, ratings for Americans and the U.S. tend to track each other very closely.

So we DO have something in common……

#26 — wasn’t the US Constitution written by a bunch of slaveowners? Guys like Jefferson?

From William Blum’s “Rogue State – A Guide to the World’s only Superpower”: Nearly half of adult Americans surveyed by the Hearst Corporation in 1987 believed Karl Marx’s aphorism: “From eah according to his ability to each according to his need” was to be found in US Constitution.

Overwhelmingly, Americans are good people, and their government is also a force for good. But like everywhere else, there are bad people who exploit weaknesses, and they are the ones who cause the unfavourable headlines.

My only advice to Americans would be to try to be a little more worldly, a little more humble.

one little example, the baseball champions of the U.S. (and Toronto), call themselves “the World Champions”. Ditto for the American football champions. Are you really that insecure?

F-U Seriously, Pinochet is second only to hitler in the grander scale. He is also one of the few heads of states convited by the haag tribunal for war crimes, even if there was NO actual war.
He is a murderer and a thief, Allende was elected democratically and the will of the people has to be acknowleged.
Chile would have prefered our old spanish rule even before pinochet. So once again F-U

Wow, I thought that it should read “Every Time you Vote Democratic a Neo-Marxist get in Office”. Wake up America!
