just trying to understand the screen cap…
So, the democrats voted for the bailout, and republicans voted against it?

  2. Bill says:

Let the mayhem begin! I just watched the bipartisan ‘response’ to the failure of the bailout…

Can we apply for asylum somewhere else?

Are we in a ‘clear and present danger’ yet?
    WOW!

  3. Sinn Fein says:

    Welcome to The Meltdown.

  4. JimD says:

    Yeah, REPUBLICAN DEPRESSION II !!!

Wall Street LAYS A VERY BIG EGG !!!

  5. brendal says:

Putin is laughing is @ss off right about now…

  6. Sinn Fein says:

    Yeah, BI-PARTISAN DEPRESSION II !!!

Thanks BARNEY “HAVE YOU SEEN MY WIENER?” FRANK for such outstanding oversight and Nancy “We Have an Agreement!” Pelosi.

  7. chuck says:

If the Republicans were smart (and there’s no evidence to support that idea) they’d make this the decisive election issue: they vote against the bail-out while the Democrats get tricked into supporting it.

McCain then runs as the candidate that told Wall Street to get lost. And Obama becomes the candidate who voted “Present”.

  8. moss says:

#6 – what is it about numbers that confounds you?

If you’re for the bill, you can see it’s the usual conservative v. liberal split still in charge. Even if you’re too unsophisticated to get that, you can see a number of Dems voted with the Republicans.

Frank and Pelosi have no charge over that.

  9. moss says:

Uh, #7 – except it was resolved in the House.

  10. SparkyOne says:

This is a bit aged but very applicable.

  11. chuck says:

#9 – I know it was the House. But a good politician would never let the facts get in the way of a good campaign issue.

  12. gmknobl says:

Both parties (we really need >2 parties for real) and an uninformed electorate, which was mostly encouraged by some conservatives and all neocons as they raided our government for money.

  13. john says:

    Hooray,
As someone who is too liberal to vote Democrat, I thank the House Republicans for shooting down this corporate welfare scam.

If the economy were truly as bad as Bush/Pelosi would like us to believe, they would not be out there running it down the way they have been for the past week.

If this bailout stays dead I will have a little of my faith in Democracy restored.

It is crazy to see Democrats crying that we are not going further into debt so that we can gift public wealth to the already wealthy.

What part of “we are broke” does Bush/Pelosi not understand?

  14. Flip Wilson says:

    Barney Frank nail it:

“Here’s the story. There’s a terrible crisis affecting the American economy. We have come together on a bill to alleviate the crisis. And because somebody hurt their feelings, they decide to punish the country. I mean, I would not have imputed that degree of pettiness and hypersensitivity.”

“We also have — as the leader will tell you, who’s been working with them — don’t believe they had the votes, and I believe they’re covering up the embarrassment of not having the votes. But think about this. Somebody hurt my feelings, so I will punish the country. That’s hardly plausible. And there are 12 Republican members who were ready to stand up for the economic interest of America, but not if anybody insulted them.”

“I’ll make an offer. Give me those 12 people’s names and I will go talk uncharacteristically nicely to them and tell them what wonderful people they are and maybe they’ll now think about the country..”

Nobody come out clean from this one, McCain lied, grandstanded erratically and “phoned it in” while the Democrats can’t show enough leadership to drive their own membership. Pathetic stinking mess.

  15. troublemaker says:

To those IDIOTS that believe the great depression was caused by the stock market crash… WAKE UP ALREADY!!!

The great depression was cause by a contraction in the money supply. The contraction in the money supply cause the stock market crash.

The Fed injected over 600 billion into the economy today. No depression to worry about… yet. Just massive inflation.

All that’s going on today, is Wall Street was throwing a tantrum because they weren’t given 700 billion for free. They’ll get over it.

  16. GigG says:

If, and I am just say IF this causes a complete melt down Pelosi is going to take the rap. She went partisan when it wasn’t really called for.

  17. LotsaLuck says:

The talkin’ folks on the teevee just said that the bill was killed by congress-critters from the far LEFT getting together with those from the far RIGHT, so if you wanna blame somebody you’ll have to blame the fringes of both sides…

  18. MikeN says:

Mighty have passed without Pelosi’s partisan speech. The House Republican leaders voted for it and encouraged others to do the same. Pelosi could afford to lose 17 Democrats on the issue, then Republicans gave her another 65 votes. She couldn’t keep 82 Democrats form breaking off?

  19. The Warden says:

my god some of you are politcally dumb. 95 DEMOCRATS voted against it yet she blames the republicans. How rich. Nancy Pelosi couldn’t get her own party in sync. And then she goes and makes a PARTISAN speech before the vote! How smart is that? Very smart for one reason. This bill didn’t contain all the goodies the dems want to fund ACORN, their side illegal vote project that Obama was part of. Nancy nevr wanted this bill to become law. Now they can go back and put in their corrupt amendments and get it passed. It’s just strategy on her part.

  20. Mister Ketchup says:

At this point I think we need to be asking ourselves, “what would Sarah Palin do?”

  21. Special Ed says:

#19 – Well hopefully she’d take of her shirt and shake her titties.

  22. MikeN says:

And they adjourned til Thursday. That’s leadership!

  23. keaneo says:

Eid got it right. It’s hilarious watching some of the nutballs here try to rationalize their lockstep loyalties.

Ooh, someone said something that hurt someone else’s feelings. Is this government or play-time at the Congressional day-care center?

  24. MikeN says:

“After this immediate problem, we’ve got the long-term fundamentals that will really make sure this economy grows”?

    Barack Obama

Sounds like he’s saying ‘the fundamentals of our economy are strong’?

  25. #17 – Lyin’ Mike

    >>Mighty have passed without Pelosi’s
    >>partisan speech.

Any legislator who flip-flopped on the vote because Nancy Pelosi was mean to them should be taken out in the yard and shot in the back of the head.

How trivial, petty, and irresponsible is that? What kind of douche bag would play games with the future of America because of an inconsequential perceived slight like that?

What is this, second grade? Or kindergarten?

  26. chuck says:

So would you say it’s time for our viewers to crack each other’s heads open and feast on the goo inside?

  27. bac says:

You’re right. Republicans are pussies who cry when people point out the obvious. McCain is the biggest pussy of them all. Suspend his campaign? Anoint a moron for VP? Yup, he’s a lying sack of pussy shit.

  29. #26 – bac

    >>MM — How many intelligent and mature

I couldn’t say. The least they could do is act like grown-ups.

And if not, they should be taken out into the yard and shot in the back of the head.

Getting their knickers all in a twist over Pelosi’s speech makes elementary school children look as if they have the wisdom of Solomon.

  30. Jägermeister says:

#19 – Mister Ketchup – what would Sarah Palin do?

    Kill something.
