Republican John McCain announced today that he will attend tonight’s presidential debate with Democratic rival Barack Obama in Oxford, Miss., ending two days of uncertainty over whether the GOP nominee would show up.
McCain had said Wednesday that he was suspending his campaign and heading for Washington to help with a proposed $700-billion bailout of the troubled financial industry. Negotiations to resolve the bailout bill continued today.
John McCain will attend presidential debate – Los Angeles Times — SO now what will all the conspiracy nuts say? This will set the tone for the rest of the campaign. A must see!

Paddy…did you see McCain on TV Weds? He looked about ready to keel over. And if we end up with that knucklehead Palin, we’re doomed. DOOMED!!
why are so many of you libs concerned over McCain flip flopping over not doing the debate. If anything, you should be happy that he is since he hasn’t been able to prepare a lick. And you already believe that Obama will clean his clock just like Obama cleaned the other clocks of those dem candidates in the Dem primaries.
All the petty banter here against the candidates, yet no one can give a real reason why one is better than the other!
Here is why I won’t be voting for McCain:
-He is no longer the “maverick” anymore and has group think with his party
-He doesn’t know jack about computers and the internet
-He picked Palin who doesn’t seem to notice when Wasilla women are paying for rape kits and wants to ban library books

mmm…first lady (wanna-be) MILF…
#32 “Paddy…did you see McCain on TV Weds? He looked about ready to keel over. And if we end up with that knucklehead Palin, we’re doomed. DOOMED!!”
Well, then you have nothing to worry about right? Obama will clearly show his superiority over a guy who looks like he’s about to keel over…
“John McCain is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.”
Let’s hope Cow-Paddy gets used to his new meds quickly. This trolling is annoying.
#28–Paddy==you and Stephanie should get over yourselves and read the thread if you want to comment informedly on it.
You ask: “#23 “Over time, Obama has shown me he is steady at the wheel.”
Over how much time? /// In context, it would be the time that we have had to observe them. 2 years for Obama and 26 for McCain. But my last sentence is quite clear: on the actual record of performance for the past 18 months, you have to be in favor of Obama, or you hate America.
I think its fine not to RTFA or the thread before commenting==but why comment on the thread itself before doing that??
Only a shill with an agenda would do that.
#39, Bobbo,
… but why comment on the thread itself before doing that??
Only a shill with an agenda would do that.
Or an idiot with nothing to say.
Paddy, LOL. That whole “debate” thing you’re calling that the McCain team pulled was nothing to do with Obama. They successfully (and smartly) used it to switch the formats, dates, and moderators for the four (pres and vp) debates.
It was good politicing, nothing more.
THIs is pre-programmed, and the questions have been GIVEN to each party.
NOTHING SPECIAL..
Nothing will be answered here..
Only empty promises.

>>Excuse me. Omama chickened out and hid in the
>>closet all 10 times he was asked to debate
>>McCain.
You’re kidding, right? Have you been hitting the salvia already? The ketamine?
Friggin McCain can’t answer a question or make a statement unless the text is written in crayon inside his glasses.
By comparison, Obama is a combination of Winston Churchill and Albert Einstein.
#34, lol wrong on all three.
#28 – O’Furniture
>>He is a well spoken, clean slate that the Dems
>>put forward because their past candidates had
>>too much bad baggage to run for Pres.
Clean slate, clean candidate, say hello to the new POTUS.
The Dems could have put forth Julius and Ethel Rosenberg and they’d have John “The Trophy Wife Bagger” McBush and his young ingenué piece of arm candy.
Talk about a bad choice. w00t!!
They should arrest Barack Obama if he says anything untrue.
A St. Louis television station reports — their words — “The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign.”

THen again since he’s running against the author of McCain-Feingold, it’s OK.
Guess the bailout will have to wait…
Did you guys catch this vid from Drudge??

Should be fun tonight… The suspense is killing me… I hope it lasts!
okay, frustrating. it is “dash dash o” at the end of the link…not the long em dash…
bugs.
#41, the Commission on Presidential Debates handles all that. They’re very arrogant, even charging host colleges over a million dollars for the privilege. The McCain camp suggested to the Obama camp that they drop them and do their own debate. Hopefully one year that will happen.
The McCain football team is proving to be quite the shifty, clever bunch.
First, a Hail Mary pass to Palin on the 3rd quarter – but just short of field goal range, ouch.
Now, a fake time-out signal for a photo-op with Congress to figure out Bush’s $700B black hole band-aid.
All I can say is, it’s the 4th quarter and he’s down by a 10 points. Wide receiver Palin has a broken fingernail and can’t catch. Meanwhile,. nobody can hear Karl Rove SCREAMING from the sidelines telling Palin to show her tits as a final Hail Mary.

That is because it is the law in Missouri. You do want them to follow the law right?
Anyone who can survive the Hanoi Hilton is sure to outwit a kid from South Chicago. You can put money on it.
#52–brendal==can you provide a short list of what spending 5 years in a dungeon qualifies one to do? Add 4-5 to what you have already said:
1. Outwit Harvard Suma cum Laude lawyers in debates.
2. (waiting)
#53 bobbo
I question Obama’s so-called Harvard education since the magic teleprompter seems to be doing all the thinking.
’bout an hour to go. Can’t wait to compare notes tomorrow…
‘nite all.
I AM an authentic American hero. I do what a hero does.
I got that line from GWB. Then I made it my own.
And another thing. Everybody agrees. I WON that first debate. My psychic powers are at their peak.
I’m suspending my campaign once again for a while because of pure exhaustion.
I won that first debate already, so there is far less need to hold it.
Time for a snooze.
zz zzzzzz zzzk!
Oh look. It’s a beautiful white light. And…
And a series of tubes… Where am I?
Is this the world white web?
BTW, McCain is a much better debater than speech maker. Personally I think the guy’s is knee jerking populist, but he shouldn’t be underestimated in this format.
Ok, so the debate went ahead.
But the election is still canceled, right?
