Completely OT, but I think you will find this amazing:

    http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=486637/

Wait for the pics to load. The woman obviously had mental problems, but she also had a lot of free cash for cigarettes and take-out food.

  2. Malcolm says:

The Large Hadron Collider bought a large number of electrical step-down transformers. These are the size of a small house and cost millions. I happen to know that, to save money, they bypassed full load testing to get quick delivery. One already blew out. More to follow, probably. No, I can’t tell you my source.

  3. Malcolm says:

“Clinton killed the Texas SCSC out of spite”?
John, are you just ignorant or have you merely been misled? For God’s sake, check your facts, man! Stop using Rush as a source!

  4. Bill says:

Why can’t CSCO give even a dime to their shareholders?
    WTF?

  5. Springheel Jack says:

The Superconducting Supercollider was cancelled by a Democratic Congress because it’s projected cost had risen to $12 billion. Wow, that’s what we spend in a month in Iraq!

  6. Chris Mac says:

Seems that new mini black hole at CERN is really chewing up the equipment.

  7. zebulon says:

What’s wrong with you and the LHC ?
It’s a huge project, with lots of technology premieres. It’s no surprise that there can be some minor (compared to the project’s size)technical problems when they start it! And BTW, it’s NOT a swiss project! It’s a Pan-European project ( CERN: Europen Center for Nuclear Research), the LHC is half in Switzerland, half in France, there are member countries from all europe, plus “observator” countries ( including the US), plus many other countries counducting experiments ( in total, 580 scientific labs, from 85 countries).
Do you really think the US is the only country capable of conducting state-of-the-art, fondamental research ?

  8. Paddy-O says:

“Palin hacker found by FBI. So why cant they track down serious online scammers?”

Well, the person who “hacked” Palin’s email account wasn’t a “serious” hacker. So, the question is not really relevant. “Serious” scammers aren’t that stupid or inept.

  9. Erik Blazynski says:

regarding the Palin email hacker – Why the hell is she using yahoo mail for her email address? They don’t have enough money in Alaska to get an exchange server? Should have said YES to the email server from nowhere.

  10. Springheel Jack says:

She should be sending her email with Elm and a Solaris server.

  11. MuffinSpawn says:

I second #9 and add that the first serious problem (the magnets that failed during quenching tests) were designed and made in the US. I’m not trying to bash the US. This is bleeding edge technology. Furthermore, CERN was running a lower-energy version of the LHC for years on the exact same spot without any trouble. To blame the Swiss for all the problems while heralding the US’s superiority is simply ignorant and chauvinistic.

  12. J says:

    # 10 Paddy-O

Wow it is amazing how people are found guity without a trial and EVEN BEFORE they have been charged.

The FBI and Secret Service STILL have not named anyone as a suspect.

But Republicans and other hacks don’t need that to determine guilt. They just go on gut feelings.

  13. burncern says:

CERN is never going to fully start.
I think someone in an intelligence agency from
some country is going to keep creating weird
    accident, after weird accident.

    Or maybe the Pleidians…
