  1. cmon says:

I’m in Houston, and the locals are doing a marvelous job. HD remotes from all over–beating the pants off TWC!

  2. Stephanie says:

I’m in Arlington and the traffic is ridiculous! Poor evacuees.

  3. Paddy-O says:

Watching the live coverage and some people haven’t decided to leave the area yet. They’ll probably be toast.

  4. Improbus says:

Y’all put on some hip waders, ya hear?

  5. Eideard says:

The mayor of Galveston says the island will be completely under water for 12 hours. Though the wind isn’t higher than expected, the breadth of the storm is such that the storm surge has already reached 4-5 feet.

There are 22 poor dudes on a freighter 90 miles offshore – that’s lost power and is drifting. Five coast guard aircraft attempted a rescue and failed because of wind and waves.

  7. ECA says:

    Target the golf coast..

  8. Jägermeister says:

No need to take cover… this is all part of God’s plan… just like the war in Iraq.

  9. chuck says:

If Houston floods, can the population re-locate to New Orleans?

  10. Dallas says:

I’m in Dallas and happy hour starts in 4 minutes

  11. mojotaker says:

I am in Houston right now. I live near the reliant stadium. I am not worried about it. The people that should be worried are those that live in galvaston.

  12. BillM says:

Hey, I have an idea. Let’s build a city on a strip of sand a few hundred yards wide and a feet above sea level in one of the most hurricane prone areas on earth. Better, yet…..let’s go to the east a little bit and we can build one that actually below sea level. That’s an even better idea.

I’ll take our cold winters and occasional blizzard. We just pile the snow up and God gets rid of it for us.

  13. B. Dog says:

Fill yer gas tank today, not tomorrow, y’all.

  14. Pat says:

Not to worry. To quote Sarah Palin, it’s all part of God’s plan. If God chooses to smite Houston, there must be a devine reason.

  15. Mr. Fusion says:

In a strange way this is fascinating and magnetic. I wish I could be there and watch it for myself, live. To stand on a hill and shout at the Flying Spaghetti Monster “In your face FSM”

  16. Lou Minatti says:

“If God chooses to smite Houston, there must be a devine (sic) reason.”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said that God punished Mississippi during Katrina because they vote Republican, and God must love Democrats because Katrina spared New Orleans. He said that 2 hours before the levees failed. He said that on Huffington. Don’t believe me? Google it.

Thanks again for confirming the fact that the DemoKKKrats are the party of hate.

I put those K’s in there because I know libs like to use it a lot when describing people they don’t like. The irony is a stalwart hero of the donks, Robert Kleagle Byrd, is a KKK member and to this very day still calls people with dark skin tones the N word.

  17. Jägermeister says:

    #16 – Illuminati

    Is McCain a liar?

  18. Joe says:

Why doesn’t Barack Apollo Obama stop this? How about one of those Zeus style shouts of “enough!” to silence the wind and stop the seas.

  19. Mr. Fusion says:

    #16, Loser

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said that God punished Mississippi during Katrina because they vote Republican, and God must love Democrats because Katrina spared New Orleans. He said that 2 hours before the levees failed. He said that on Huffington. Don’t believe me? Google it.

Eff that armpit !!! YOU made the claim, you supply the link. Kennedy claimed nothing of the sort.

Why do wing nuts need to lie ??? Ten years ago Pat Robertson claimed that hurricanes were likely to hit communities that offended god. Blame Robertson that god wants to kill people.

  20. Mr. Fusion says:

Here it is 2:30 in the morning. Our part of the Mid-West is under a tornado watch. I’m staying up just in case.

Although it has calmed down a little, we just had one storm with some strong winds go by and the radar shows another storm on the way. Plus we are under a flood watch.

Ah well, I think I’ll pull out that old edition of O. Henry and do some reading.

  21. qsabe says:

Ever get tired of seeing people on the Weather Channel standing around holding their hats on in the rain while they tell us what they can see.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the camera was allowed to show us something other than their silly wet faces to let us know what is going on.

  22. Pmitchell says:

well to mr fusions and mustards dismay. I only lost one tree and no major damage to my house in Missouri city.

  23. Mr. Fusion says:

    #22, Paul,

Why would Mustard or I be dismayed because you didn’t suffer more damage? Wishing hurricanes or other natural disasters on someone is a Republican thing. I’m sure Mustard joins me in saying thanks for not doing your bit to drive up insurance costs.
