Clinton: Obama will win ‘pretty handily’ – 2008 Presidential Campaign Blog – Political Intelligence – Boston.com — Generally you are supposed to say “It’s going to be a tight race” so you do not get the other side all worked up to get out the vote. So what’s this then?

The two leading Democrats, whose relationship was less-than-warm during Obama’s tough fight with Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary, dined together at Clinton’s Harlem office. Asked for his assessment of the race, Clinton said, “I predict that Senator Obama will win and win pretty handily.”

My thoughts? “Dewey Defeats Truman.” Then again, Rush Limbaugh thinks it might be a McCain landslide. But this is all bad form.

  1. danijel says:

Ok, Clinton said it, what else could he say, but Obama’s reaction to that is so laaame…

  2. Does Clinton look and sound a little drunk to you?

  3. contempt says:

Must be an edited version. They cut out the part where Obama removed his lips from Bill’s butt cheek.

  4. Right says:

Of course the Dems are going to win. Who in their right mind would want someone who might believe the Earth is only 5,000 years old? Someone better ask Failin’ Palin that question in a hurry.

  5. Paddy-O says:

    I don’t know. Clinton is a very shrewd pol…

  6. edwinrogers says:

Dispassionate observers, the few of us that there are, concluded a year ago. What was the title of that, Woody Guthrie song?

    >>Does Clinton look and sound a little drunk
    >>to you?

Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe he’s just sleepy. And even if he IS a few sheets to the wind, big woop. He’s already done his time as leader of the free world, so what if he has a couple of martinis at his favorite Harlem watering hole, and is a little tongue-tied mid-afternoon.

The key facts are, he did an excellent job as POTUS, and I think he’s right that “Senator Obama will win handily”.

At least I HOPE he’s right. God help us if McBush and the shotgun extremist get control of these United States….

  8. becagle says:

Didn’t he say the same thing about his wife’s campaign? I don’t see her on the Democrat ticket. I prefer to wait to see the debates. If you want to call them debates…

  9. eyeofthetiger says:

Today was suppose to be the day the campaigns ceased the circus in remembrance of not catching OBL. Funny how Clinton is pulled out of whities pocket. And the next possible “hockey mom” president is trotted out for her first interview.

  10. Jägermeister says:

#4 – Right – Who in their right mind would want someone who might believe the Earth is only 5,000 years old?

Matt Damon on the subject of Sarah “hockey mom” Palin as potential President.

  11. Dallas says:

Well, the race appears no longer to be about issues nor qualifications.

Since the pool of undecided voters that choose on most charming, prettiest, sexiest, religious, whitest, feminine are gone there is one big block to court – the undecided sheep vote.

The ‘undecided sheep’ herd to where everyone goes. Might as well make that claim now.

  12. Paddy-O says:

#10 “Matt Damon on the subject of Sarah “hockey mom” Palin as potential President.”

Why would anyone care about what Damon has to say?

  13. Jägermeister says:

    #12 – Paddy-O

Was there anything in what he said that wasn’t true?

  14. Paddy-O says:

#13 “Was there anything in what he said that wasn’t true?”

No, he talks about her exec experience that the other candidates don’t have and how he’s really scared.

Why do I need him to tell me this stuff?

  15. Jägermeister says:

#14 – Paddy-O – Why do I need him to tell me this stuff?

Freedom of speech isn’t limited to Republicans.

Would you like to see Sarah Palin as President? Seriously.

  16. J says:

I do believe I said they will win by a large margin or landslide the day after Palin was picked. I stand by that.

It is the Republicans that are being fooled right now. They are under the belief their messiah has come and they are terribly wrong. They are listening too much to their right wing pundit talk shows and they are forgetting the reality of the situation.

  17. J says:

Oh and yes Clinton does look a little tipsy. He looks like that a lot these days. I think he is ill. I do believe he is not a well man health wise.

  18. ArianeB says:

This race is going to be decided by five states: Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Colorado

McCain has to win 4 of those 5 to win, Obama only needs two, any two!

  19. Paddy-O says:

#15 “Would you like to see Sarah Palin as President? Seriously.”

Between Palin and Biden? It’s a toss up.

  20. Floyd says:

“Between Palin and Biden? It’s a toss up.”

I think Biden knows a lot more about the way the real world works than Palin.

  21. jescott418 says:

I bet the rest of the world is laughing! They must be thinking is this the
best they can do? Has anybody heard and real stance about issues?

  22. #20 – Pink

    >>I think Biden knows a lot more about the way
    >>the real world works than Palin.

Of course he does. He’s been working with the world for 35 years.

And unless Palin’s spinmeisters get to pick the questions at the debate, he’s going to eat her alive.

With her, it’s ALL sizzle, no steak. Not even a gristly bone.

  23. Jägermeister says:

    #19 – Paddy-O

Is the question too hard for you?

  24. d2d says:

wow, John, aren’t you being a bit childish for posting stuff like “Does Clinton look and sound a little drunk to you?”

Look at what’s happening with Republicans.
YOu old and those folks who are too slow to notice that Republicans are literally fucking up our nation.

  25. Rick Cain says:

Obama had better win, otherwise the USA is doomed. And I mean doomed as in doomed, selling apples in the street, food lines, looting doomed.
Our economy is based on lies, the crash is coming and we can’t survive 4 more years of GOP direction.

  26. Brendal says:

He also said his wife would win…

  27. #24 Dad,,,no. There is something up with this. His mouth is hanging open. He looks drugged. Just 6 months ago he was more on the ball. He’s also too thin and his hair is now crazy old lady white, almost blue.

I’m already not liking what I am going to suggest on the next No Agenda. Hopefully I’ll change my mind as to what I’m thinking before then.

  28. ArianeB says:

#25 I agree! The economy is going to tank in the next four years no matter who is president, but under Obama, we have the next Franklin Roosevelt, under McCain, we have the next Herbert Hoover.

And God forbid McCain becomes incapacitated and Palin is put in charge. We are talking Michael Brown in charge of FEMA bad. We are talking Evan Mecham bad (google him)!

  29. BigCarbonFoot says:

McCain better win or the US is doomed. Clinton did a shitty job as POTUS (Among other things he set the stage for 9/11.) however he is a shrewd politician. You can bet that behind the scenes he is doing everything possible to ensure Obama loses without looking like that’s what he wants. He desperately wants Hillary vs McCain in 2012. Of course, if Obama does win somehow, it will be Jimmy Carter all over again and Hillary could probably run anyway.

  30. Calin says:

And the Republicans are the party of fear?

“WE’RE DOOMED IF OBAMA DOESN’T WIN!!!! RUN RUN EVERYBODY TAKE COVER”

Jesus, enough of the Chicken Little crap.
