1. Who says:

Fortunately not everyone is afraid of the knee grow and he was very fortunate that she didn’t pull a concealed carry and pop a cap in his ass.

  2. bobbo says:

I’ve read advice to women that they should get off an elevator if they are alone and a man enters. So, I would agree, don’t act like a victim if you are too lazy to get out of the situation.

    OTOH–man, suit, daytime, statistics?

or emotions? For myself, I note I do lock my car doors if transiting a bad neighborhood.

  3. Special Ed says:

Bad neighborhood? I call those gated communities full of flaming assholes as well as the neighborhoods that offer check cashing or pay day loans both bad neighborhoods.

  4. xr says:

Racism, or knowledge of crime stats?
I am white, male and if I get into an elevator in which a woman is standing alone, she goes from a very safe to a slightly less safe situation (and so may I). Does she change her body language? Grap her purse? Step aside? If she does, is she a sexist?

Anyhow, I probably wouldn’t notice: A. because I’m male and therefore very bad at reading body language, and B. because I don’t spend my days looking whether or not people are discriminating against me.

  5. The Warden says:

When I go into elevators, I enjoy ripping very offensive and malodorous farts. It’s very entertaining to witness how someone reacts when that person(s) have no where to go.

  6. ECA says:

    GOOD VID…

  7. Tyrant says:

    *yawn*

  8. The Pirate says:

Since the angry African American man is displaying racist tendencies himself and in the end acting upon them, perhaps the Nordic American woman is justified in her instinctual fear. It stands to reason that if he didn’t call her a stupid white bitch and yell boo in an aggressive manner angry African American men would gain the respect they seem to think they are entitled to.

    Want respect? Show some.

  9. Esteban says:

Maybe she’s not afraid of black men, just foul-mouthed hobbits.

  10. sam says:

I have seen two different security videos of four different people where a black man severely beats elderly white women for their purse. I think both were posted to liveleak.com

Are crime statistics racist? The uniform crime report is a survey of what the VICTIM SAYS the race is. Not the cops.

  11. Personally, whenever someone else enters an elevator, I and others in the elevator shift around a bit. You see, like gas, people expand to fill the available space. So, when another human enters, it is normal to rearrange and get the average distance between all humans to the highest level possible.

That said, clutching one’s purse or otherwise protecting one’s belongings based on skin color of the person who entered is indeed racist.

For a more thorough and scientific study though, I think we’d need to see whether race is the real factor. Perhaps most women clutch their purses whenever someone else enters an elevator. I don’t know. Perhaps it’s based on the way someone is dressed or on overall appearance and normally does not happen when a three foot tall black man in a suit enters the elevator. Perhaps they clutch their purses when a tough looking white guy comes in too. Perhaps they clutch their purses for everyone, even 90 year old women. More science needed here if we are to care overly much, IMHO.

  12. richardbt71 says:

I have to work with a man that’s is another race, for whom I do not like. He seriously thinks the only reason for a white person to not like him is because they are racist.

  13. BdgBill says:

This is a great illustration of how some black people are on the constant lookout for perceived racism.

I seriously doubt that anyone is guarding their valuables when a well dressed black man enters an elevator in what appears to be a high end office building.

I am a 6’4″ white male. In certain situations (and largely dependent on what I am wearing) I have noticed women and occasionaly men cross the street to avoid me or otherwise indicate they are uncomfortable.

A more accurate version of this movie would show a white couple at the movies with a group of young black males sitting behind them. The black males would be wearing clothing 6 or 7 times to large for them. They would be talking to the movie, to each other and playing with cell phones. Perhaps a pair of size 13 Timberlands can be placed on the seat back next to the womans face.

The movie concludes with the “racist” white couple either moving to another seat or leaving the theater entirely. One of the black males then stares into the camera and talks about how badly his self esteem has been damaged by this racist incident.

  14. iWhite says:

I get the same reaction, an I’m not a short black man. The only racist in this video is the short black man.

  15. Uncle Patso says:

This isn’t new is it? I seem to remember seeing it before. Or maybe that was an old Saturday Night Live sketch…

  16. green says:

Start the civil war already, we’re getting tired of waiting.

  17. Improbus says:

    Funnay.

  18. lbjack says:

If I were a black man, or any man, who got into an elevator alone with a female who didn’t get off or get sqeemish, because I was NOT considered a threat, I should feel quite deflated.

  19. Mr. Fusion says:

Maybe I should be but I am not surprised at the number of racists posting here. They don’t see it that way and that is part of the problem.

When an individual is judged by what a few of similar characteristics have done then that is prejudging. When the prejudgment is based upon race, that makes them racist.

  20. Paddy-O says:

#19 “When an individual is judged by what a few of similar characteristics have done then that is prejudging. ”

And in some areas it is a survival trait…

  21. No Kidding says:

    ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Mr. Fusion says:

    #20, Cow-Paddy,

Which is why you are a racist.

  23. #20 – Paddy,

Yup. You are indeed a racist. Can you think for one second that anyone needs to fear a business man in a suit? (OK, well, maybe an ExxonMobil executive.)

Seriously, does the man in this (obviously staged) video look dangerous to you? Is it your survival instincts that make you afraid of him? Or, will you stand up and admit that you do have pangs of racism, at least from time to time, and this is clearly one of them?

  24. Paddy-O says:

#23 “Yup. You are indeed a racist.”

There is only one “race” of humans… So, I’m pro homo sapiens, yes, a racist.

  25. Lightbulb42 says:

Unless we can see the woman’s reaction in the elevator when a white man gets on, how do we know her reaction is racist. She may react exactly the same way. Obviously racism exists but perceived racism may make the problem seem much worse than it is.

  26. MIKE CANNALI says:

    Question:
What do you call a person who deliberately targets and frightens someone representing an innocent group that they harbor imagined grievances and resentment toward?

    Answer:
    A Terrorist

  27. Jim W. says:

“And knowing is half the battle”

    /sorry, couldn’t resist

  28. onomontapeia says:

Fusion, Post 19, you are right he is a racist and a terrorist. Grow up and quit watching Sesame Street. It’s a dangerous world. The people that made that video are quite prejudiced and are stereotyping a group of people. Some folks can’t learn from the past to make things better for all.

Misguided Scott, Ted Bundy, remember him? ANYBODY can be dangerous.

  29. Mr. Fusion says:

    #28, ono,

    ANYBODY can be dangerous.

So because one person did something everyone should be afraid that race?

So everyone should be afraid of groups of four or five men and women, they might be another group of Manson followers.

Everyone should be afraid of Koreans. Yup, one shot up Virginia Tech.

White students wearing black coats? Yup, you remember Columbine.

Southern red neck deputies? Hey, don’t forget how many blacks were lynched.

Oh, and Indians. Ya, the Battle of the Little Big Horn. And Mexicans, shit, the Alamo anyone?

You see, moran, you want to blame a whole group of people for the misdeed of just one or a small group. That is what makes a racist and you now qualify.

  30. Paddy-O says:

#29 “So because one person did something everyone should be afraid that race?” (and other meaningless comments)

A United States Department of Justice report homicide statistics between 1974 and 2004 52.1% of the offenders were Black, 45.9% were White, and 2% were Other Races.

So, a group that represents 11% of the population commits over 52% of the murders.

    Figure out the rest yourself…
