Joe Biden seems like free-wheeler and is supposedly a gaffe-machine. In this case he asks a guy in a wheelchair to “stand up!” He is visibly taken aback when he realizes what happened. Everyone is anxiously awaiting his debate with Sarah Palin. I’m predicting right now that this one debate will become the number one watched debate in US election history.

  1. Lou Minatti says:

Hey John C. Dvorak. Yes, you. Your grasp of tech is superb, your grasp of political realities is subpar. You should stick with commenting about weird Microsoft ads.

Less than 2 weeks ago you were saying Palin would be dropped from the R ticket. How much you wanna bet me that Barry “career-minded women are pigs” Soetoro throws Joey Hairplug under the bus (like so many others) and begs Hillary Clinton to come back as VP?

  2. jeff says:

Obama/Biden ticket is a joke… it’s fun watching the wheels coming off.

  3. deowll says:

Not sure how many votes it will change but I think Palin is better at debating in front of the public.

If either side makes a slip…It can be all over in a flash.

  4. Ah_Yea says:

#31 Lou. Not so strange an idea as some would like to think, but it would not appear as Obama throwing Biden under the bus, but as Biden stepping down “for the good of the party”.

This is what Biden said in the last few days:

“ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe reports: Sen. Barack Obama’s, D-Ill., vice presidential nominee, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Wednesday said that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., might have been a better pick for the position than him.

“Make no mistake about this,” Biden responded. “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America, and quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me. But she’s first rate, I mean that sincerely, she’s first rate, so let’s get that straight.”

  5. Ah_Yea says:

I know this one is off-topic but it answers the question about whether anyone has said: “if you don’t vote for Obama, you’re a racist”

  6. bobbo says:

#34–Ah Yea==thats rather silly. You are an intelligent guy yet you post just like the average dumbshit red voter in America these days. No Memory at all. No focus on real issues. Led astray by pretty lights. Actually disgusting as reflective of how the Repugs could take away another 4 years of time to address the issues America is facing. ((Not saying unproven Obama WILL do that, but more likely that McCain won’t==and he really has been running a gutter campaign thru surrogates.))

Many people have “the ability” to be president and much of what would go for experience==like Hillary. Can’t we all just keep our heads out or our asses long enough to recall why Hillary wasn’t chosen? In a word==Bill. Get freakin real.

If you like the last 8 years, elect McCain and Palin will be even worse should she succeed in office. Hasn’t America suffered enough?

  7. contempt says:

    #35 ah_yea

The other side of the coin is “if you do vote for Obama, you’re a dumb-ass”

Although there are a lot of dumb-asses who visit this site who deserve the oppressive lifestyle Obama would force upon them, there are many other clear thinking people here that do not.

If being called a racist is what it takes to defeat Obama, then fire away.

  8. Ah_Yea says:

Bobbo, the earlier in the morning it gets, the more off your meds you get.

I know you are an unquestioning Obama fan, and any assault on you object of desire elicits an over the top venomous response, but face the facts here.

There an old Indian saying: “It doesn’t matter if you drown in one inch of water or a mile, you’re just as dead”.

Obama’s drowning, and since the GOP convention he consistently appears to be flailing like a man stranded in the middle of the ocean without a lifejacket.

Why is Obama attacking Palin? Isn’t that the job of the VP? Doesn’t he realize that he is placing Palin in the limelight by focusing on her?

Of course he does, but he is desperate and it shows.

Palin stole the DNC’s thunder. Palin probably stole many of the Hillary voters. Without the Hillary voters, and women in general, Obama cannot win. Not enough votes in such a tight race, and it’s got Obama scared.

Just because you don’t want to see the obvious, bobbo, that doesn’t mean it’s not true. Obama is slipping. He has been outflanked.

So what is Obama to do? He needs the women vote.

Take another look at Hillary, maybe?

So first, figure out how to deal with Bill, and go from there.

    #37 contempt.

I do not agree with the editor of Slate on this.

I believe the person who is NOT racist can and will vote for who they believe to be the best candidate regardless of race.

I believe a person who is not racist will judge each and every person based on their qualifications and merits, their intelligence and personality. Not on their skin color or gender, or any such thing.

I have strived to conduct my life in this way and have been honestly and greatly rewarded with an excellent group of friends which crosses these “lines”.

By the same token, I am insulted at the insinuation that if I don’t vote for a particular person, it’s because I’m racists.

  10. bobbo says:

#38–Ah Yea==there is no reason at all for you to remember any of my posts but 90% of them contain words of underwhelming support for Obama, and less for McCain. Just see my instigating post at #36 where I say: “Not saying unproven Obama WILL do that, but more likely that McCain won’t…” Your characterizing my choosing the unproven over the more likely as an “unquestioning Obama fan” means either you are lying, on autopilot, skip read the posts you reply to, or are a paid Repuglican shill. Which is it?

Thanks for the links. Probably some poll has shown Obama that a lot of women are as ill informed as you and he’s trying to get the information out there. Nothing in the law prevents a woman from choosing to have deformed children. Some women may not realize that the far right wingnut Repuglican base wants to make the same decision for other pregnant rape and incest survivors.

Heh, Heh. No med can make this nightmare go away.

  11. contempt says:

    #39 ah_yea

You are right to be insulted, as all of us should be, if called a “racist” or “sexist” if we don’t vote for a certain candidate.

Fortunately, Obama/Biden is dropping like a stone as their candidacy of nothingness is coming to light.

  12. Hugh Ripper says:

The Republicans really are just lying in wait to label as ‘sexist’ any attack on Palin. So much so that they’ll grab any old crap and dress it up as such. (OMG did I just ridicule Palin’s dress sense? How sexist of me!)

Its pretty clear from the original clip that Obama was talking about McCain.

  13. bobbo says:

Contempt and Ah Yea–repuglican shills both. Figures you line up these issues the way you do.

No one has said Palin is a Pig and no one has said that “if you vote for Obama you are a racist.” ((Specifically, the linked reference above does not say that==some of the words are used in the article but it addressed a different real and accurate issue.))

But in hand grenades and Repuglican smear election techniques, anything is close enough. Its kneejerk unthinking red value voting on display. Its too bad you two, and your type, don’t apply this same close enough thinking to the rest of your lives. You’d be eating plastic fruit and dying off pretty quickly.

HEY!!–give it a try. Next time you post try to be accurate, then go for relevant. Could be a while until we hear from you?

  14. Mr. Fusion says:

    #20, Lyin’ Mike,

… her billed expenses are less than half of the previous governor’s, …

Who was also a corrupt Republican governor.

plus she didn’t bill for lodging either.

Bill for lodging at her own home? Hey Zeus Mike, you are bold today.

  15. contempt says:

    #43 bobbo

Excuse me your clownness for not wishing to fall for the Obama spin.

You know very well what he meant. Defending him on this only shows your bias or magnitude of blindness.

  16. Mr. Fusion says:

    #39, Ah Yea,

By the same token, I am insulted at the insinuation that if I don’t vote for a particular person, it’s because I’m racists.

As you should be. BUT, I am more concerned about those like Cow-Paddy who aren’t ashamed they are racist and consider it a badge of honor. These people have made their opinions and election choice based upon skin color.

  17. bobbo says:

#45–contempt==if you watch that video and think Obama was talking about Palin, you are a walking meat puppet zombie for your Repuglican Masters.

    Think for yourself.

  18. Mr. Fusion says:

    Contempt.

Did you have anything constructive to add? So far all your comments rival Lyin’ Mike’s blather for stupidity.

  19. contempt says:

    #47 bobbo

I’ve seen the video and the one indisputable truth is that the audience had no problem distinguishing who he was referring too.

How do you and your Obama worshipers explain that?

  20. bobbo says:

#49–contempt–I’m not trying to pull your chain at all, just not pulling my own punches.

NO ONE knows what each individuals who laughed in that audience was thinking of. To post repeatedly that you do know is just not credible. Can you understand and accept your own limitations as a mere human being?

For my own self, I smile every time I hear that expression. I’ve heard it too often to laugh at it. I laughted real hard the first time I heard “Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.”

So–tell me contempt, how do you know what the audience was thinking and reacting to? Who were they? How many speeches had they been to? Did they even hear the Palin speech? === Are you close to getting this?

Even if everyone in the audience took the statement as applying to Palin, you can’t attribute that to what Obama was thinking or trying to communicate.

This is fairly objective stuff. Like I said, think for yourself.

  21. contempt says:

    #48 Mr Fusion

Perhaps it’s not so much Mike is lying, it’s just that you have a hard time recognizing truth.

  22. contempt says:

    #50 bobbo

It appears we have found common ground. What Obama says is not necessarily what he means.

  23. bobbo says:

#51–contempt==so your position is that a public official who steals only half as much as his/her predecessor is doing a good job? I’d say they are inexperienced and just warming up.

God, do you have to support all things corrupt?

    Think for yourself.

  24. bobbo says:

Speaking of comedy, one of the cable news channels is at the 9-11 Memorial and a white guy is reading the list of names of people who died that day. Seems unnecessary to me but there is a Spanish speeking person repeating the names after the white guy says them.

It becomes surreal when the names are Spanish to begin with. Got to extend those vowel sound and add a guttural click to be politically correct.

Are we any safer today? Really?

  25. contempt says:

    #53 bobbo

I don’t recognize the statement as anything I have ever said so let us conclude that it’s more your view than mine.

  26. Ah_Yea says:

Ok, Bobbo. Now tell me just how Obama is winning the women’s vote with comments like this?

“Keep in mind, technically, had I meant it this way, [Palin] would be the lipstick. The failed policies of John McCain would be the pig…”

He said this on the David Letterman Show last night!

He said this to over 7 million viewers, about half of which I bet were women!

Who is Obama working for, McCain??! Hannity and Limbaugh could only pray for stuff like this.

I guarantee you that most women will view his statement as immensely sexist and degrading.

Obama needs to get away from the ad-lib comments and back to the prepared speeches.

  27. contempt says:

    #54 bobbo

Instead of safer, a better term is “been allowed to go back to sleep.”

  28. Ah_Yea says:

Now Bobbo, don’t sit there and try to elucidate on what Obama meant, just focus on what he said and how any woman in general would hear it.

It would go something like this: “Obama thinks women can’t do the job, that they are just window dressing, a skirt to attract the men’s vote. Obama didn’t pick Hillary because she would be ‘Lipstick’ to his candidacy.”

Again, bobbo, don’t overthink it. Most people won’t look to what he meant to say, they’ll just remember what he did say come voting day. A gut reaction.

  29. bobbo says:

#56–Ah Yea==I agree such logical analysis does not appeal to women or yourself or repuglicans or the religious right.

I hope I’m not viewed as fanatically pro-Obama when I say his campaign appears to be losing its appeal to those who respond to traditional polling efforts.

USA is midway in its 35 year downward spiral because Washington (both parties) have found that mindless appeals to emotions and images win a majority of the voting class.

Bush has been especially bad. McCain/Palin promise more of the same. Rather than a guaranteed failure, I’m only suggesting an unproven unknown like Obama offer hope for something not as bad.

We won’t have real leadership in this Country until Mad Max fills the tanker truck with sand.

  30. bobbo says:

    Lots of cross posting there.

You two remind me of Beavis and Butthead: “He said lipstick.”

    Way to go boys.
