Obama isn’t calling Sarah Palin a pig. He’s calling McCain a pig. Sarah Palin is the LIPSTICK on the pig. Or at least that’s the way I see it. — Marc Perkel

I personally think it was a Freudian slip, followed by another gaffe, Obama’s alluding to stinky fish — another anti-female not so subtle insult. — John C. Dvorak

Hmmm – I thought the old fish was also aimed at McCain as an anti-old insult. But I see your point. — Marc Perkel

  1. BillM says:

    That’s a great picture. Palin’s lipstick and Obama’s ears.

  2. Paddy-O says:

This could turn out to be a Tar Baby for Obama.

  3. Pmitchell says:

I watched the clip and Obama did not call her pig but the audience took it that way and there for the republicans ran with and to tell the truth the Democrats deserve it after all the lies and propaganda put out by the DNC in the last week about Palin. Karma is a real bitch isn’t it

  4. Stinker says:

Well I’m so glad you finally got you chance to giggle with glee! 🙂

    Enjoy!

  5. Dallas says:

I disagree. Palin is a pig needing lots of lipstick to mask her earlier squeals the virtues of a religious state, her criminal past.

McCain is merely a turd that needs some polish. there has to be a picture somewhere of a shiny piece of turd.

By the way, as a long time Florida native, ‘Barracuda’s’ like shiny shit. The match was inevitable

  6. bobbo says:

Well Done Mark. I hadn’t recognized that until this post. And of course your are right, in so many ways.

  7. Thinker says:

Perhaps you might concentrate on something more news worthy? Like Bidens comment on special needs kids???

  8. ArianeB says:

#3 Not all lies, and none of it put out by the DNC. The DNC has been TOO KIND to Palin.

The negativity you hear is coming from stories out of Alaska, which is the only place you can find reliable info about her since she refuses to talk to the press.

What is so stupid is all of this is a distraction from the issues we should be taking about.

  9. Bob says:

Liberals should be happy about this, they have learned an important lesson about the Messiah early, where if this happen later in the election it could have really hurt him.

The Lesson: Make sure he has a teleprompter in front of him at all times.

  10. madtruckman says:

Oh well, since mccain is the pig, then i guess that makes the comment ok then. im glad we got that all cleared up… It’s funny how all you liberals are giving obama a free pass on this one. Had this been mccain making the comment on hillary (if she was the VP pick), you guys would be screaming to ‘pig heaven’. Calling anyone on a national stage of politics anything related to a pig is pretty sophomore-ish. And #8, yeah, the DNC has been too kind to palin, but thats only because they have an olbermann, matthews, maddow, CNN, Wash. Post, NY Times, MSNBC, George Soros, et.al. to do their dirty work for them. Makes the DNC come out smelling like a rose, or should i say, a clean pig.

  11. Pmitchell says:

read this then try to make an informed comment

    http://www.newsweek.com/id/157986

debunks all the lies put out about her last week and don’t try to tell me the dnc was not behind this kos, moveon and huffington are “plausible deniabilty” group for the dnc and they all got their talking points from the DNC hit room

  12. brendal says:

Does watching this make me a pedophile? Because you’re all acting like children in that British playground!

  13. Dallas says:

The GOP is clearly savoring for the press to jump on a gender bias issue.

This is key. Moving the public ‘conversation’ away from her qualifications to that of a gender bias issue is absolutely GOLDEN.

ANYTHING to drag this down that path is critical. Look out for the he said, she said rumors to spark it.

  14. eyeofthetiger says:

haha, the GOP cohorts cry victims almost as much as Democrats feel guilty being Americans.

  15. Ivor Biggun says:

Hey Dvorak, where are the stories about Obama being a DNC puppet who only says what is handed to him? Palin and McCain clearly have their own minds, whether you agree with what they say or not, but Obama can’t stop from tripping over his own tongue when he’s off the teleprompter. His level of “smarts” comes from the fact that he did very well learning communist ideology at Harvard and spews it back out very well.

[if you’ve actually read this blog we have all this and more covered to death. But we have all perspectives, not just one tub thumper like on other blogs. — JCD]

  16. ramuno says:

Are you all idiots…or are you just having fun with me?

Obama’s comment was about Rebublican ideas for change which are not any different than the old problems. They are the same pig… but with lipstick.

I guess this country is doomed to talk about this stupid stuff instead of the real issues.

  17. Joe says:

Who brought up the lipstick on the pig thing? In retrospect (24 hrs worth) was it a smart thing to say? Was it even smarter to complain about being called out for it?

All I’m saying is, doesn’t this call Obiden’s judgement into question? I mean, if you’re planning on doing all that “talking” to dictators and thugs around the world, shouldn’t you be a bit more clever?

    The answer is yes.

  18. Matt Garrett says:

Classless politics from a classless party. You won’t hear McCain use that kind of childish rhetoric.

  19. Dallas says:

#18. Agree. That’s the job of the GOP party!

If there one thing you will learn in Swift Boat school is you don’t let the top to get ‘dirty’.

  20. mthrnite says:

    McLame, O’Balmy, Bite’em & Failin’
    Demoschnooks & Republifarts.

    ISN’T THIS FUN?!?

Looks like everybody’s pulling tricks out of everybody else’s playbook, then screaming “HE HIT ME!” over and over. O’Riley and Olberman are the same freakin’ guy, and they’re both 6 years old. The candidates themselves ain’t much better. The people who ought to be in office don’t have a chance in hell because they’re not rich or pretty or in some PAC’s pocket enough. Pig shmig, what’s it got to do with the price of oil in Saudi Arabia, or tea in China for that matter.

It gets really old. Politics suck.
Sorry, just venting. It’s been a crappy day.

  21. moss says:

What an amazing assembly of ignorant Dems and Republikan hypocrites. So, none of you remember when McCain used exactly the same phrase about Hillary?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4RNM7eVBwM

  22. chris says:

OR… maybe he was just using a common idiom, that has been used before by other candidates, to indicate that the McCain “change” is not as real as he wants us to believe.

  23. >>another gaffe, Obama’s alluding to stinky fish
    >>— another anti-female not so subtle insult.

    Ewwww!!

Even though I wouldn’t vote for McCain/ Palin if there were the only candidates on the ballot, there is NFW that Palin can be compared with stinky fish. Surely even Obama knows that!! She might be compared with a fresh spring summer breeze, filled with flying razor-sharp ninja weapons, but stinky fish? Uh-uh!

  24. Angus says:

#22, yeah, but none of the other candidates ever ACTUALLY wore lipstick. It a stupid thing to say in public, on camera, plain and simple.

  25. Republican says:

What the hell? I listened to that speech on Fox even. Obama wasn’t talking about Palin…didn’t mention her or even “reference” her abstractly. It was only about John McCain’s policies being no different than George W. Bush. So all the Republican ‘outrage’ is a lie (it is) or they’re just SO stupid that when someone says McCain they assume they mean Palin.

  26. Republican says:

Besides…John McCain said this “lip stick on a pig” remark specifically about about Hillary Clinton’s health care policy years ago. So that comment was about a woman. Typical Republican lies…do something…and then accuse your OPPONENT of doing it instead. Sleezy. But it gives the Republicans another day of the news not talking about the issues, just bullshit. If anyone focus on what the Republicans have done in the last 8 years, they’re finished. So they have to distract with made up issues, scum bags.

  27. Paddy-O says:

#26 “Besides…John McCain said this “lip stick on a pig” remark specifically about about Hillary Clinton’s health care policy years ago. So that comment was about a woman.”

Actually, it was about a policy. The comment referred to dressing up a bad policy, (putting lipstick on a pig) the pig being the health care
    policy…

  28. #11 – Pmitchell,

I guess this wasn’t damning enough for you on the issue of book banning. To me, it reeks of someone who really does want to ban books.

It’s true that Palin did raise the issue with Mary Ellen Emmons, Wasilla’s librarian, on at least two occasions, three in some versions. Emmons flatly stated her opposition each time. But, as the /Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman/ (Wasilla’s local paper) reported at the time, Palin
asked general questions about what Emmons would say if Palin requested that a book be banned.

Also, this, out of respect for Pat Buchanan??!!?

When presidential candidates visit our community, I am always happy to meet them. I’ll even put on their button when handed one as a polite gesture of respect.

I’m sorry, but even when a presidential candidate visits, one must determine whether it is appropriate to show respect. In the case of someone who has thrived on racism for his entire professional career, I think the answer should be no.

With respect to creationism in schools, this is also extremely damning and a clear violation of the first amendment.

In an Oct. 25, 2006, debate, when asked about teaching alternatives to evolution, Palin replied:

Palin, Oct. 25, 2006: Teach both.

And, that’s from your own link, Pmitchell.

How about shooting wolves from planes? How about going from no debt to $22,000,000 in debt for a small town? How about building a $15,000,000 sports arena in a small town when the infrastructure is crumbling? How about if she put that arena on land not owned by the town so that it can’t be used and is still being fought over in court? How about if she really genuinely is under investigation for ethics violations that may lead to her impeachment two days prior to election day?

Is she still a good choice in your mind?

What about the fact that, even as governor of Alaska, she is still presiding over a smaller number of people than live on the island of Manhattan? Would you want someone with less experience than Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer as your vice president? Would you still say yes if you knew that it meant that she would be president in the event that the oldest person ever sworn into the presidency should die?

Damn. She’s despicable and unqualified, a winning combination.

And, she sure loves her earmarks.

  29. Or maybe not says:

Fake outrage by Republicans hiding from the truth. Obama never mentioned Palin, directly or indirectly….at all. Total Karl Rove lie. WATCH it yourself…we have the video…stop MAKING THINGS UP:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4RNM7eVBwM

  30. Or maybe not says:

    Here’s the full video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPd4yk0x-eg

Here’s how ‘clipped’ version the Republicans are showing.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC_YC5uNtoY

The video shows Republicans will edit/manipulate the truth to lie. SCUM BAGS
