Recognize this?

Heartbroken Daniel Briatore, 21, has vowed to remain camped outside the convent in a bid to win back the love of his life Patrizia Masoero, also 21, after she dumped him a month ago to take religious vows…

When Patrizia refused to see him he put up a banner on the convent walls reading:”I didn’t want to take you away, just talk to you, because I love you”.

The nuns immediately took the banner down but Daniel has said he will do “whatever it takes” to get her back, boosted by local villagers who are all said to be backing him.

Last night Italian media reports said the two had known each other since they were teenagers and had been together for several years until Patrizia told her family she was leaving Daniel to become a nun.

A nun who answered the telephone at the convent said: ”Our sister has chosen the path she wants, there is no point in him staying here.

What is left to say? Maybe she’ll come to her senses?

Thanks, K B

    Take the hint dumb dumb.

  2. Thomas Deliduka says:

Come to her senses? This is what she wants to do with her life. Are you saying the 10’s of thousands of nuns who devote their lives to God are wasting their time? Well, perhaps you are.

  3. MotaMan says:

What is the only kind of meat that a priest can have on good friday?

    Nun

  4. bobbo says:

The implication is that she wasn’t interested enough in him to let him know what she was thinking about him, their future together, etc.

Young love can be like that. Old love too. Some people are not very communicative. Good thing god does not require verbalization.

  5. Mr. Fusion says:

Geeze, I don’t know which is worse. The effen loser that can’t get over being dumped for some religious order or the stupid imbecile that wants to be “god’s bride”.

This is funny. May they never reproduce.

  6. OvenMaster says:

This young man needs to learn the lesson that it is impossible to change a woman’s mind once it’s made up.

  7. xwing says:

BTW, the pic is from the Graduate at the end. I recognized it! Heheheh!

She’s seeing someone else now. Get over it.

  10. Dallas says:

Sad but this stuff happens all the time. The human mind is fragile and complex to the extent it can trigger strange and often permanent behaviors.

Going the nun path is not bad and probably addresses a void in her life. Unfortunately for him, it is unlikely he will be able to get her back.

I advise him to wish her well and move on.

  11. eyeofthetiger says:

Sounds like this situation is all clammed up!

  12. bobbo says:

If my daughter became a nun, I would have to believe in god as it would be proof of some kind of miraculous unnatural intervention in the normal physics of life.

Normal, happy people don’t become nuns. Dedicating your life, marrying Jesus, is showing a “void” in your life, thinking, education, upbringing, values, etc.

Now, doing good works is a good thing, but you can’t isolate that from the stupidity of the belief system.

  13. George Bernard Shaw says:

Love consists in over estimating the difference between one woman and another.

  14. bobbo says:

#13–George==that is rather snide, maybe clever, but not very insightful. Women are different from one another.

No, I think love analysis requires looking even more deeply into yourself. “Usually” more to the point that just because you love her, does’t mean she should or will love you back, and vice/versa.

Its a shock, but an invitation to understanding, that the universe doesn’t care about you at all. Then you learn.

As you know, I am not a religious person, however that post was rather shallow. If a religious person made the same argument back at you would think they were superstitious and ignorant.

  16. She married a dead guy who was already married to thousands of women around the world. Why would he want her back?

    #7 – xwing,

Correct. That is from the end of The Graduate. Great movie!

  17. KD Martin says:

If my daughter became a nun, I would have to believe in god as it would be proof of some kind of miraculous unnatural intervention in the normal physics of life.

Bobbo, right on target. This could be evidence of alien invasion and mind control.

  18. The Monster's Lawyer says:

I’m not sure if this has anything to do with anything but….
My cousin became a nun. She left the sisterhood after she realized she was gay.

  19. bobbo says:

#15–QB==that makes no sense. How could a religious person make such an argument to me?==but if he did, why wouldn’t I agree and call him unusual for a religious person? They say a truly crazy person never questions his sanity, so such an admission would be quite rare, violating several rules of psychiatry.

Sure you read my post correctly? If so, explain your understanding or complaint so I can at least understand your position?

  21. Lynn says:

Heh heh, I was a sister for 15 years so I’m really getting a kick out of this. Bobbo, your argument (#12) implies that women have a ‘void’ in life that can only be filled by a man. Many women find living in an all-female community to be refreshing and freeing. I met lots of happy people in religious life. As for normal, well, since only a small minority of men and women choose Catholic religious life, I guess you can call it abnormal. As for the Italian guy, don’t worry about him. The convent gives you beau coups time to re-think your decision before you make permanent vows, so she may yet return to him.

  22. bobbo says:

#21–Lynn==congrats. Yes, my post could easily be read as you say, but I was only thinking of anyone that removes themselves from the rest of society. Nuns, monks, the uni-bomber.

But don’t remove my anti-religion bias from your understanding. The void would only be slightly smaller in someone fully integrated into society who believes in any religion.

I used to deliver mail to a convent. Always fun to ask them questions when they weren’t allowed to talk.

Happiness can often be for quite some time, simply and only a state of mind totally independent of situation.

So, several issues bouncing around. Nuns, cloistered, religion, void, sense, and non-sense.

  23. Manny Barilow says:

My wife announced for Jesus one day, and after about six months it eventually resulted in our going separate ways. I found out later that she even tried to join a convent, but was denied the application on grounds of ‘unstable personality’. I eventually wrote it all off as just a case of being ‘cuckolded’ by some guy named JC.

Thinking back on it, though, I find this saying a tiny bit of consolation: “Never eat at restaurants named ‘Mom’s’…never play cards with guys named ‘Doc’…and never go to bed with someone who has more problems than you.”

Luckily, we never had any kids (whew!).

Masturbation is just a way of fooling Mother Nature and getting away with it.

  24. Chuck says:

I actually thought the pic was from Saving Silverman, which has a plot not unlike this story. Maybe he should sing her some Neil Diamond.

  25. bobbo says:

#23–Manny==did that leave a scar? Kinda reminds me of Ted Turner and Jane Fonda. Traitor or not, I always liked Jane until she flipped out.

Its too bad people can’t be true to themselves, and then to others? I don’t know how much people “grow apart” or one or both people simply stop lying to themselves.===probably a mix of things.

  26. Manny Barilow says:

If you can tell ahead of time what your sweetie is going to be like to live with in the long run…well, good for you. The scars have healed and faded away.
