On an appearance on MSNBC with Mike Murphy on September 3rd, 2008, Noonan was caught questioning the choice of Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate after her mic was accidentally left on.[7] In the conversation she said that “it’s over,” and “the most qualified? No! I think they (the Republicans) went for this — excuse me– political bullshit about narratives –“. This came after an article published earlier that morning in the Wall Street Journal in which she called Palin a “a real and present danger to the American left, and to the Obama candidacy.
It’s over she says…..Har! You gotta love it. This was already posted on Wikipedia:

That was priceless.
The irrational, irresponsible choice of Palin is much talked about in GOP circles, I’m sure. The objective now is to polish the turd for American voter consumption.
The hope is that the majority of voters are ‘smarter than a fifth grader’.
All my Republican friends were just tripping over themselves trying to convince each other what a great choice McCain has made. Their comments were right off Conservative talk radio, some word for word, people are so easily duped.
It would be funny if this was slipped in right before the big speech.
It is interesting how the GOP is largely managing to keep all the dismay over Palin under wraps. if the uber-partisan Noonan is trashing her, what else is floating around when the mics are off?
Did God leave the Mic on? Me thinks so.
This looks like a set-up to me. Funny but an MSNBC ambush. Who was recording this. Who released it? Why was Todd asking leading questions off the air?
Ron Paul’s people…I’m just sayin’.
I told you that is what is going on behind the scenes! They are not confident at all with this pick and they don’t know where to go because of it. It is so obvious in their behavior. As transparent as the Republicans are, they are never this off their game.
There is more to come too. Wait until October if she is still around then. You simply won’t believe the shit storm that hits.
A virtual graveyard in the closet.
Noonan is not a super partisan.
Let’s see what the left wing media has to say about Palin? From a New York Times editorial:
Where is it written that only senators are qualified to become President?… Or where is it written that mere representatives aren’t qualified, like Geraldine Ferraro of Queens?… Where is it written that governors and mayors, like Dianne Feinstein of San Francisco, are too local, too provincial?… Presidential candidates have always chosen their running mates for reasons of practical demography, not idealized democracy…. What a splendid system, we say to ourselves, that takes little-known men, tests them in high office and permits them to grow into statesmen…. Why shouldn’t a little-known woman have the same opportunity to grow?… [T]he indispensable credential for a Woman Who [sic] is the same as for a Man Who [sic] – one who helps the ticket.
#10 Give it up MikeN or save it for another topic.
THIS topic is about a Republican insider saying Palin is a piece of shit. Despite her beauty queen background, the GOP will still needs pounds of lipstick to make this pig look good.
It’s often said that a presidents first duty is to pick a VP.
Palin was the wisest choice McCain could come up with?
Who is Palin’s running mate again?

The NYTimes isn’t left wing.
Democracy Now is left wing. The NYTimes is centrists, at most.
Corporations own 90% of the media, at least, and you guys still whine about it.
Foot… meet shotgun…
#16. the bitter anti-Obama Hillaryite is largely a myth. they find a few po’ed people at the convention and give them a lot of face time.
some women were chapped because a (in their opinion) less-qualified man beat out a (in their opinion) better-qualified woman for the Democratic spot.
Notwithstanding Palin’s great foreign policy experience in governing a state (nearly two years!) that is close to Siberia (and Canada! a twofer!)and her masterful command of the Alaska National Guard in defense of … uh … some seals or something. Palin is obviously not a better qualified female candidate for any national office. As Ms. Noonan points out.
the idea that any significant number of female Hillary voters are going to switch to McCain because of this obvious bit of pandering is a laugher.
James,
I never got the sense that Noonan had aspirations for elected office. Where did you get that idea?
Greg
Peggy Noonan is a real Reagan Republican. She is a “bitter conservative” who hates how “value republicans” have hijacked their party. George Will would be in this camp as well.

The liberals immediately assumed this was about stealing Hillary voters but it wasn’t.
It’s all about the Religious Right.
And, best I can tell, McCain brought that voting bloc into the fold.
He couldn’t have won without them and he pulled this off. I don’t like it, but I give him credit.
Doug, that’s a darned good point you made — Canada is up there too! How often we forget.
This “she lives near Russia” is such a stupid talking point that it has made the Republicans seem very foolish indeed.
But, of course, most Republicans have no idea how foolish they are.

#8 — I agree with you [#8 “If you have never heard of Ms. Palin, then you are an idiot.”]. I thought she was the odds-on fav and the logical choice three months ago and expressed this on a couple of podcasts. Since Hillary fan Marc Perkel posted this as a mystery shows you how out-of-touch the Dems actually are. She’s a dynamo and will steal all those pro-hillary fence sitters since they all assume McCain will die of old age in office.
To be effective the dems will have to become both age-ist AND sexist to beat this combination. The evidence is in the comments.
Her approval rating has been as high as 90-percent in Alaska. So I’m not sure what all the naysayers are thinking.”

It will be fun to watch the Dems panic over this [choice of Palin].” (emphasis added)
Still having fun? Still think Dems are panicking?
As I noted in my previous comment, which was deleted for whatever reason (I don’t care), Dems have always thought this was a terrible choice (i.e., an awesome choice for Obama).
Whether or not this was a setup is completely irrelevant. Nobody put works in their mouths. They think “it’s over.” They think Palin is a lousy choice.
Stop holding out that anyone other than the hardest of the hardcore thinks McCain did himself any good nominating Palin. You insult Democrats for being “out of touch,” but it was a lot of Democrats, who knew apparently more than you about Palin, who knew she was a train-wreck.
The Noonan-Murphy comments goes to show how far reaching the low opinion of Palin is. It’s not just the usual suspects who you feel you can easily dismiss.
James Hill’s shrine.

Libertarianism makes some sense for conservatives, since Libertarians also want to give all power to the corporations.
But only the dumbest liberals would become libertarians since most liberals think that unregulated corporations are the new fascists.
Were we talking about McCain up to Friday? No. Point made.
Listen, you all can keep this up from now until re-election but to paraphrase Dennis Miller, I like this pick and if it doesn’t result in McCain/Palin and Pres/VP, then I’m willing to go down swinging because this is righteous and real, the Dems today are absolutely bereft of same.
P.S., if you don’t get it done this time with the full weight of the msm and looey blogs behind it, it’s just over, pack it in.

That’s a pretty typical Dennis Miller quote: full of pomp but dumb when you think about it.
“Listen, you all can keep this up from now until re-election but to paraphrase Dennis Miller”
Re-election?….I hope that was Freudian
#24. A half-truth? You think some leftover Hillary supporters are so hooked on having a woman as VP that they would vote Republican? Or stay at home in swing states?
Not likely. Palin is so far to the right, she is almost off the charts. Former Pat Buchannan supporter? Alaska Independence Party? C’mon. Women have ideological beliefs, too, you know. They don’t just toss them under the bus when a woman candidate shows up. And the biggie is this – a VP is not a President. This has already been done.
Oh, and I AM angry and that is a good thing, because there’s lots to be angry about. and I have lots of company – about 80% of Americans believe this country is headed in the wrong direction.
the Bushies and their enablers have dug us into a hole and McSame is a firm believer in more digging.
