Palin Was a Director of Embattled Sen. Stevens’s 527 Group | The Trail | washingtonpost.com — This can’t be good. That said, this woman must be an insufferable ball of energy.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin began building clout in her state’s political circles in part by serving as a director of an independent political group organized by the now embattled Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens.

Palin’s name is listed on 2003 incorporation papers of the “Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.,” a 527 group that could raise unlimited funds from corporate donors. The group was designed to serve as a political boot camp for Republican women in the state. She served as one of three directors until June 2005, when her name was replaced on state filings.

Palin’s relationship with Alaska’s senior senator may be one of the more complicated aspects of her new position as Sen. John McCain’s running mate; Stevens was indicted in July 2008 on seven counts of corruption.

Palin, an anti-corruption crusader in Alaska, had called on Stevens to be open about the issues behind the investigation. But she also held a joint news conference with him in July, before he was indicted, to make clear she had not abandoned him politically.

And now apparently Bristol is pregnant! She’s not married and already suspected as the mother of Trig Paxon Van Palin, Sarah’s fifth child. This is all going downhill fast. It’s something to see!

Can you imagine what breakfast was like when Bristol told mom she was pregnant? Ha. I’m sure Mom was just ever so happy.

OK, so how is this for a theory. Bristol is not pregnant at all but she did have the baby Trig and that story is becoming unraveled. Sarah is going to have to leave the race and the party needs a fall guy. The fall guy caused the problem in the first place: Bristol. Palin will exit for the “sake of the family” No harm, no foul. This is too much of a weird coincidence otherwise.

Meanwhile the Dems have already showed they are sexist and ageist. The Republicans can bring in Mormon Romney for the bigotry tri-fecta and guilt-trip them to death. Genius. Palin was a red herring!

Actually, the repubs made a bigger issue of Obama being friends with a known terrorist… Oh which there was no defense given…
This thread is about her supporting Senator Ted Stevens. The Republicans have made a big deal about Obama’s relationship and house purchase with Rezco even though it was totally above board. When the house was purchased Rezco was not even under investigation. Yet somehow the Republicans want to claim Palin off limits.
If someone can show me where she has somehow prostituted herself with respect to Stevens, I am very interested to see that info, and will form an opinion accordingly. Just being a “director” of that group doesn’t tell me much. More info, please.

On the other hand, the Rezko thing with Obama stinks to high heaven. There is NO QUESTION (unless you are brain dead) that Rezko gave that plot of land next to Obama’s house to him. The only question is whether it was done as quid pro quo for something from Obama. Common sense says that yes, Rezko is not running an altruistic Obama support fund. Rezko is the kind of guy who only does favors when the favor will be returned.

Again, the Rezko affair tells me Obama is just a more-of-the-same stinky politician from Chicago. Maybe Palin is made of similar cloth. But we don’t know enough yet to make the deduction. Feel free to unearth as much POLITICAL AND FINANCIAL dirt as you would like and make it known.

No matter which way the “who is Trig’s real mom” question goes, Palin is either the most cavalier birth mother–to the extreme of child endangerment–in her handling of the Texas speech/return home/known premature birth episode, or she is perpetuating insurance fraud of the most serious kind.

If Bristol “spontaneously aborts” from all the pressure anytime up to term and the presumed current pregnancy goes away for any reason reported at all, then my money’s on the insurance fraud.

Thankfully, some enterprising souls grabbed the photos from flickr and facebook in time to keep the twenty-odd fixers that John McCain sent to Alaska from being as effective in papering over this scandal.

I really smells like McC is swerved by a pretty face once again. He’s reminiscent of the parody of bureaucrats being persuaded by the beautiful spy in a bad Man From Uncle episode.

You can have a career and a family–just not at the same time.

Hmmm… somehow no one says that about Hillary, Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, etc. etc.

Palin will make a fine first female president on a few years. This is going to be fun to watch. Spectator sports at it’s finest.

This is what I mean when I say the Republicans have no shame. Stevens, Young, Murkowski, and the younger Stevens are all corrupt with Alaska oil. All these Republicans took money and favors. Being a “Director” means you have oversight.

Obama paid market value for the house while Rezko paid market value for the plot of land. The seller had separated the house and the plot of land. Later when Obama bought the strip of land, they paid $104,000, which is over market value. Only a brain dead Republican can see anything illegal or immoral in this purchase.

While Rezco raised money for Obama and his political campaigns, he also raised money for Republicans, including then Governor Ryan and had a multi-million dollar fund raiser for Bush.
