Generally a smear tactic does not go in this direction. The key elements are that there are few pics of Sarah pregnant and her daughter was out of school for an extended period with mono.
Obviously all we need is the birth certificate, a doctor, someone to confirm or deny the story. This could backfire or result in a McCain error in judgment. If you wanted to be a conspiracy theorist you could argue that this story was actually planted by Republicans to be proven false to cast aspersions on the Dems for being heartless since this poor woman is raising a baby with Down’s syndrome and now they are claiming it is not hers. Bastards!
We’ll see how it unfolds. It will be fun to watch either way.
Now being upfront, we have no idea if this story is true but sources say it’s correct. But Media Takeout is reporting that McCain’s vice-presidential pick, Sarah Palin, is said to have pretended her fifth child, Trig Palin, was hers… when actually the baby belonged to her teenage daughter, Bristol Palin.
UPDATE: Further research discovers a slew of fake blogs linking to a phony video linked in China! Here is the current list of fake WP Blogs with posts obviously designed to create a Google bomb. The plot thickens. Something is indeed being orchestrated. Seems amateurish. And apparently those sites try and load a Trojan — BE CAUTIOUS.
Shouldn’t the story really be: Is VP Sarah Palin married to Commander Ricker from the Starship Enterprise? And does that violate the temporal prime directive?
The shocking twist: The fifth child belongs to both Bristol Palin, and John McCain.
Well, this is ugly. I hope it doesn’t get any traction.

this is the kind of conspiracy that nuts are drawn to. think about it, there has to have been doctors, nurses, the daughters friends, the moms friends & the husband all in on it with the hope that not one of them would have blabbed the thr truth to the media when the kid was born.
Funny how this blog has always been about random things (or at least the past few years), but whenever a story appears that somebody doesn’t like, they inevitably say “Stick to tech stuff, John!”

This story is believable, if only for the fact that similar things have plagued people with money and power in the past.

When will the daughter be old enough for sex with the rest of us?
I posted it because it’s a developing story that cannot be ignored, period. It’s a blog. This is what blogs do. AND note, I did not give the story credibility and looked at it from a meta perspective. So give me a break.
And, yes, the “stick to tech” argument is lame. This is not the New York Times. We have no influence over public opinion. All we do is try and keep people abreast of crazy stories and other weirdness they might be confronted with. This story just seemed odd enough to qualify and I am the only one who suggests it may be a Republican ploy.
And I can spot a story with legs. Trust me on this.
I am just wondering if this really matters.
It has absolutely nothing to do with what needs fixing in this country.

A friend of mine in Alaska says this rumor has been going on up there for months, but no one has yet to get any solid evidence.
Even if true, I don’t see how this would be a big deal. Sure it’s salacious, but it really doesn’t reflect poorly on Palin as a person… and I am not a fan of hers. All she would be guilty of doing is protecting her daughter.
Maybe John is right and it’s a plant.

I’m sure this babe has some nice legs, not cankles like Hillary. I saw Hillary in the pant suit and thought I spotted a camel toe but it was more like a moose knuckle.
Considering how many anti-Palin stories have been floated to the top of Digg in the last 2 days, I’d say the feces is just starting to be flung. The Demo smear machine has been switched on to full throttle and I doubt there will be any topic that will be taboo.

The Demo’s have a smear machine? I thought that sort of below-the-belt swift-boat-liars stuff was pretty much the exclusive domain of the Repugnipigs.
This story has been out there for four months. I don’t see how Obama’s camp can be blamed for it. I don’t think there is any way they could have thought four months ago that she would be the VP pick. That is why I think John’s plant story has some merit. The other possibility, she has made a lot of politicians in Alaska mad, including her own party.
