The liberal media is making fun of John McCain as if he were some kind of elitist because he can’t remember how many homes he owns. Well I say, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!” After all, how many of us really know how many homes we own? Can you just answer that off the top of your head? Donald Trump probably doesn’t know how many homes he owns either and is anyone calling him an elitist? Maybe there’s a reason McCain said he doesn’t remember how many homes he owns because he doesn’t want Osama bin Laden to find out. Yeah, that’s got to be it.

  1. Yeah, but Donald Trump is a douche bag with a laughingstock comb-over who makes and loses fortunes on a daily basis. And a reality show TV star/ blowhard. He’s not running for president.

Glad to see you’re quoting the Bible though (John 8:7).

That could be hazardous to your health here on dvorak dot org slash blog though; this is the militant Atheist capital of the internet.

  2. NJBob says:

I’m sure Senator McCain would love to have this house issue amplified in the media – especially since it looks like Senator Obama got his property as a gift from a criminal!

  3. McCullough says:

I do, I own one home (well sort of). But someday… I’ll own one home, maybe, I think, if the economy doesn’t tank….oh fuck it. I don’t own shit.

  4. Esteban says:

I know how many homes I own: zero.

  5. Improbus says:

The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose. An evil soul producing holy witness Is like a villain with a smiling cheek.
[1596 Shakespeare Merchant of Venice i. iii. 93]

  6. and yet Obama story keeps changing all the time “the master of change” and yet the left wing never seems to point that out – or Russia’s invasion and “occupation ” of Georgia complete with roadblocks .
Amy Goodmann of “Democracy Now” goes to the Baltics and reports on how “everyone in the Baltics ” has an opinion of Obama’s foreign trip to Europe

  7. #5 – Realty Tax Consultant

Was there a point to that message, or were you just practicing your “keyboarding” skills?

  8. As long as the houses haven’t been gotten by corruption, it is the American way to have them. More the merrier. Now to that other candidate who has only one house, one he got with clear evidence of corruption. He got swindled without his knowledge? Oh, even better president will he be…

  9. huskergrrl says:

I know exactly how many homes I own because I’m making payments on 2/3 of them.

  10. ArianeB says:

“and yet Obama story keeps changing all the time “the master of change””

Dude, this is the internet, we have all seen therealmccain.com and know McCain flip-flops more than a cook at Dennys.

No one’s buying your propaganda here.

  11. comhcinc says:

i own zero. i wonder if mr mccain could lend me and my family one. they don’t seem that important to him.

  12. Malcolm says:

I’m beginning to think that McSame is senile. Of course, after a moron like Bush, anyone would seem brilliant.

  13. how many homes we own? says:

    Yes there was a point
The selective perceptions of the left wing who think they are open minded whereas in actuality they are rather close minded to ideas other than their own, and as well often these left wing types carry an agenda of their own – which is not unlike being at an Amway meeting

  14. Bob says:

As long as he hasn’t gotten them without corruption, I frankly do not care if he owns hundreds of homes. Same with Obama. In fact the more I think about it, I would consider it a mark in the plus column for someone who does own a bunch of homes and maintains them in good condition.

Hell, if he’s maintained a successful rental business that would be another plus.

Why on earth would I care what someone else has? I don’t suffer from chronic wealth envy like many on here seem to.

A bit of advise to those people who seem to see the world through the goggles of wealth envy, what someone else has means means nothing to you on a personal level. It doesn’t mean that you are somehow less of a person because you do not own as much stuff. Don’t judge your personal happiness by what others may have, and you don’t. Life is not a race, where whoever dies with the most crap wins, life is a marathon, where the only person you are competing against is yourself. Make the most of it.

  15. Greg Allen says:

    >> Bob said,
    >> A bit of advise to those people who seem to see the world through the goggles of wealth envy, what someone else has means means nothing to you on a personal level.

Sure it does. The uber-wealthy upper class will ruin our democracy and make us poor.

  16. bobbo says:

    Lets see:

The economy is doing quite good.
    The economy is strong.
You need 5 Million to be rich.
I don’t know how many homes I have.
    Son and grandson of Admirals.
Married the wealthiest woman in Arizona.
Spent 30 Years in Washington DC.

    Bubble-boy.

  17. Ah_Yea says:

Knowing how trusts work, and that the McCains have a prenup which keeps his hands out of her stash, it’s not too surprising that he is not too forthcoming about her wealth.
“Cindy McCain and the McCain children are the beneficiaries of a beer distributing fortune amassed by her parents and estimated to be worth $100 million or more. … the McCains maintain separate finances”

“Separate finances” is the key phrase here.

Nonetheless, if you want to hurl, this article lists much of the assets of the McCains.

(Personally, I actually give the old coot credit for finding, marrying, and keeping a wealthy looker like Cindy.)

Talking about excessive wealth, let’s not forget the Kerry’s!

“To date, Teresa Heinz has declined to disclose her personal tax returns, citing family trusts and privacy. She is estimated to be worth between $750 million and $1.2 billion.”
What?! Teresa and John are worth 10 times more with even greater secrecy! What blasphemy!

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, so they say.

  18. Are you kidding me says:

On the one hand I don’t care if McCain owns 1 or 20 homes. If he’s rich, good for him! The ONLY stupid part of this was that just a few weeks ago his staff made an effort to paint his opponent as an ‘elitist’ who is out of touch and not like the ‘common man’. Really? The McCain’s are worth 50 times the Obama family. They have 8 times as many homes, plus a private jet. I don’t need to hear someone wearing $500 Italian shoes calling someone ELSE an elitist and having the dito-heads just nod and agree. That’s crazy.

  19. Whatever says:

#16 – Please! The “difference” is Kerry didn’t make a “point” of accusing his opponent of being ‘rich’ and out of the main stream, while being ‘richer’ at the same time. How much less like normal Americans can you be than not knowing how many homes you own. Gee, I just don’t think McCain is living in the same world I do. Damn, George H.W. pretty much lost the election for not knowing what an electronic price scanner was in a grocery store. Hmmm.

  20. Dick Dawkins says:

Alright, I get it. It’s wrong to be rich in America (sure he married rich but wtf? A hotty who’s heir to a beer distributorship? Why not?). In USA we don’t want to stand so tall lest we make others jealous?

Sure McCain gaffed but he’s damned either way in our loser culture of class envy. Oh no…he doesn’t recall because he’s OLD and out of touch or perhaps he caught on to the line of questioning and thought best not to respond.

Because god forbid someone should OWN property or multiple properties. Ownership of anything is wrong, right? Let the gov’t take it all from the productive folks? Now that’s real Uhmerika!

  21. tomdennis says:

I am paying for one home. Someday I’ll own this home, maybe, I think, if the economy doesn’t keep going down. Mister can I borrow a dime?

  22. BOEPC says:

    #19 – Way to miss the point…

#17 – Way to get the point!

  23. Cursor_ says:

Wow one plutocrat call another plutocrat a rich bitch.

    Stop the press!

If this is the best either can come up with…

  24. Mr. Fusion says:

    #7, Dusan,

Now to that other candidate who has only one house, one he got with clear evidence of corruption. He got swindled without his knowledge?

The neo-cons continue to claim that “the other candidate” got his house illegally or in a corrupt way. How? He paid fair market value for it. When he bought a strip of land beside the house he paid over fair market value.

So where is this evidence of corruption? How was he swindled? What other bullshit are you asswipes going to throw at Obama?

  25. Mr. Fusion says:

And I own one home but the mortgage company has a deep stake in it. Let me rephrase that. My wife and I own our one home.

  26. Dallas says:

If the McCain campaign strategy is to label the other side Elitist, an approximate home count would have been a good idea – just in case.

  27. Fair Trade says:

It’s sad when old people get to the age when they can’t remember easy things – it’s not like the guy has 50 something – it’s 7!
It’ll be even sadder if enough of the US populace vote a man who is not in full control of his faculties into the Whitehouse…

  28. Daniel says:

Are the 7 or whatever places he owns for personal use or are they investment/rental properties? I could overlook the fact that he owns a bunch of rental properties and can’t remember off the top of his head how many he owned at any one time, but it does seem he has “age related issues” and not fully in control of his memory than being an elitist.

  29. billabong says:

#14….Bob I have a better way to put the same thought.Life is not a pissing contest its a party. The person who has the most fun for the longest time wins.Have fun and don’t watch much t.v. it is designed to make you feel poor.

  30. Sea Lawyer says:

Wealth doesn’t make you an “elitist,” your attitude does. Both sides are barking up the wrong tree when they attempt to tar each other with the wealth envy brush.
