Aaron West, his partner Leeanne Baker, and their two-year-old son Leighton had only moved into the rented house in Letham Street, Hathershaw, 11 days earlier.
Mr West, 20, said: “It’s pathetic and childish. I want a written apology. We came back from shopping to find the back door smashed in and on the kitchen work top. The police here didn’t tell us much, so I went to the station to ask why. But when I told the desk sergeant I didn’t know who they were looking for, they just weren’t interested.
“It makes me feel they’re treating me like some sort of scruff, basically something on the bottom of their shoe and they’re laughing at me. “I don’t find it a laughing matter when my two-year-old son is in bed with a wooden door that can easily be pulled off every night.”
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Acting on the basis of intelligence, officers entered the house as part of a search for a wanted man who had been recalled to prison. The wanted man was not there but was later found and arrested at a nearby address.
At least they could spell “task force.”
“Acting on the basis of intelligence”?????????
I thought it was a good idea to WAIT and see if the offender was HOME..
Make it quick..
Apologize and PAY for the door.
Why bother?
This is a big brother state. Just knock in doors till you find the person you want and let the scum fix the damage.
No reason to be surprised. Give all power to the government and you will get kicked around.
I expect the same thing to become the norm here.
You think this is bad? Then you would not believe what bail bondsmen and bounty hunters are allowed to do in most US states. If these private businessmen think that someone they want is in your house, then they can storm in with weapons and trash the place looking for him or her. No warrant and no liability if they are wrong.
Surely if he lived in Manchester he must have been guilty of something…..
What? They didn’t kill his dog? What a bunch of slackers.
Leaving the message on his fridge was adding insult to injury.
