Created by German designer Tilmann Schlootz, the Snook Concept is an original and agile personal mobility vehicle that rides on a sphere. The project has won the Michelin Challenge Design Award 2008 at the Detroit Autoshow 2008.

The Audi Snook rides on a sphere. This visionary concept implements the principle of agility through instability from aerospace technology.

The multidirectional engine consists of a sphere-wheel and enables the driver to intuitively navigate and steer the autostabilized cabin in every direction, including on the side and backwards, as well as to turn on a point.

Audi Snook Concept – Beside a completely new driving experience, this creates a variety of new maneuvers, that offer driving fun as well as satisfying the needs of future urban mobility.

    How do you park it?

  2. Paddy-O says:

“…that offer driving fun as well as satisfying the needs of future urban mobility.”

Wrong. There is no bullet-proof glass, no multi directional tasers, no barriers to keep the mobs of beggars at bay.

Definitely, NOT designed to meet the needs of future urban mobility…

  3. gquaglia says:

that offer driving fun as well as satisfying the needs of future urban mobility.

Fun until a large truck runs you over, or everyone laughing at you for driving a dork mobile. But hey its cutting edge.

  4. gerbosan says:

Looks like a wheel chair, its the future of the wheel chair.
Or may be the author watched too much The Jetsons

  5. Ah_Yea says:

For all those people who thought riding a unicycle was fun!

Nice design concept, but don’t wait for one to come to a showroom near you. This thing obviously won’t work in real life.

  6. WmDE says:

I thought Dr. Seuss was dead.

  7. Jägermeister says:

    #5 – Ah_Yea – This thing obviously won’t work in real life.

It will, but the speed will be too slow to be useful for most people. As #4 (gerbosan) mentioned… this might have a future as yet another personal scooter.

You might not want to be in it when it runs out of power…

  8. Essex Audi says:

now ime just gooing the have to put that story on our blog when i get back to work next week

  9. MikeN says:

    Segway 2.0

  10. chuck says:

I enjoy riding a Sniz – is that similar?

  11. Fair Trade says:

Would I drive a Snook – Hell yes; they look as though they’ll be huge fun to drive!

  12. MikieV says:

What is the first movie we will see these in?

It would be a sure bet in the James Bond franchise, pre-Daniel Craig.

    Or, a Jackie Chan movie.

  13. Beonarri says:

This is just one step closer to having Morphballs.

  14. hhopper says:

They should have called it the Fnork. It has nothing in common with a snook.

  15. admfubar says:

    it is a hamster ball………..

it will be the newest event in a japanese game show, bowling for pedestrians………..

  16. the answer says:

Looks like the Monorail bubbles from Logan’s Run

  17. boru says:

Does it stop on a dime?

  18. Rick Cain says:

It looks like something that a disabled evil scientist living in a hollowed out mountain would ride around in while barking orders.
