ST. LOUIS Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said if the St. Louis Rams came up for sale, he might be interested in buying the team.

Rush Limbaugh

Limbaugh told KMOX radio in St. Louis that NFL ownership is a “billionaire’s club.” He said he’s not part of that club, but is in good financial shape.

Limbaugh said any move he makes would be a business decision, and not based on his ties to the region. Limbaugh is from Cape Girardeau, Mo.

“The worst thing that could happen is for a fan to buy the team,” he said. “When I say this to people, they say, ‘That’s crazy, it would be fun.’ It’s a billion-dollar business.”

The Rams owners have said the team is not for sale, but there has been speculation they could be swayed by the right offer. Longtime owner Georgia Frontiere died earlier this year. Her children are majority owners.

Thanks James Hill.

  1. If he bought the team, I wonder if its favorite play would be the “Run Right 57”. 😉

  2. the answer says:

Rush reminds me of an “angry drunk” Imus. Go find something else to do fatty

  3. Rabble Rouser says:

Rush should realize that just because the team’s name is the Rams, does not mean that they are into buggery!

  4. Noam Sane says:

Why is it that every picture I see of Limbaugh, he has the equivalent of a large brown penis in his mouth?

  5. QB says:

#31 Funny, no doubt about it. Bad for football, absolutely. Richard Nixon would have made a better owner.

  6. like-a-toaster says:

Anyone who says they’ll stop being a rams fan if Rush were to buy the team, you’re all idiots, take a lap. Are you seriously going to stop supporting your nfl team just because of a shift in ownership to someone who has had past issues with drugs/espn, and resolved them? Just grow up and watch the damn game.

  7. Jim says:

well, if rush wants to do it, what the hell let him do it. there are worse things in the world he could do. but i have to admit, maybe he should start with an arena league team first and then make his way up to the nfl. heck, bon jovi is looking like a decent owner after his philly arena league team won their 2nd title in a row. and the profit margins are better for arena league than for the nfl, last i knew.

  8. Mr. Fusion says:

Yes, Rush would not be healthy for the team. And it doesn’t matter how much he knows football, shit, over 100,000,000 Americans are well enough tuned to the game to second guess every play. But so what?

Major League sports ownership needs two things to survive. The first is enough money to own a fucking team. They are so over priced simply because they are so limited in supply. The second is being smart enough to hire people to run your team and keep the fuck away from the field / rink / court.

The dude’s politics has nothing to do with how well the team is run.

    >>I think they listen to him for HUMOR, more
    >>then TRUTH, FACT, or any other reasoning.

Well, he CERTAINLY is a LAUGHINGSTOCK. I’ll GRANT you THAT!!!!

That’s what everyone in LA said when Georgia took over the team.

    #21
I say the chances of the Rams moving back to LA are pretty much zero. St Louis is a much better sports town than LA. There are better odds that the Jaguars, the Vikings or the Raiders move back to LA.

    #31
You mean the Santa Clara Niners? ;->

  11. Dave W says:

As a native of Los Angeles, I say it would serve the Rams right!

As for Rush, he is indeed entertaining, in the same way that Jerry Lewis and Frank Fontaine are when they parody the mentally handicapped. And I actually agree with something like 40% of what Rush says, but he became irrelevant on January 21, 2001.

    >Why is it that every picture I see of Limbaugh, >he has the equivalent of a large brown penis in >his mouth?

    That’s not your imagination.

  13. Cursor_ says:

    Rush and The Rams…

That’s a who the fuck cares moment if there ever was one.

  14. The Monster's Lawyer says:

I heard he wants to move the Rams to Spatula City.

  15. MikeN says:

Will he kick the women sportswriters out of the locker room?

#35 – Why so much hate?

Mr. Hill, your question gives me pause for reflection. Most of all, I hate to see how America has become so destructively polarized over the past couple of decades, and it bothers me greatly to see hypocrites like Limbaugh shamelessly fanning those flames.

    If anybody deserves a $400 million contract, it’s John C. Dvorak… 🙂

  17. MikeN says:

Yeah no hate or fanning of partisan flames on this site. I’ll grant you Dvorak himself doesn’t do so much of that. By the way, have you seen the new site cuil.com? Try searching for ‘dvorak’ on that, it reinforces John’s last column about how much it sucks.

  18. Bryan Price says:

He’s just going to lead them to slaughter.

    Oh, sometimes I kill myself
