Autumn trends are already appearing on the pages of glossy magazines, but for some fashionistas an important question remains unanswered. What will be autumn’s key hijab look?

Muslim women anxious to keep their style cutting-edge are turning to an ever-expanding number of blogs, Facebook groups and YouTube videos to discover the hottest way to tie their headscarves.

Jana Kossaibati, whose blog, Hijab Style, claims to be the UK’s first style guide for Muslim women, says women are getting more experimental. “Muslim girls are very conscious of the way they dress. When you wear a headscarf you stand out as a Muslim, so what kind of message are you also sending out if you look drab or messy?” Kossaibati started her site because there wasn’t another like it in the UK, “but since it began 10 months ago a lot of others have appeared,” she says.

Must admit, some of these styles are attractive to these old Anglo eyes.

I’ve always found it odd that the main difference between fundamentalist Muslim wmoen’s fashion and fundamentalist Chirstian fashion is the amount of face showing.

  2. Personality says:

“Must admit, some of these styles are attractive to these old Anglo eyes.”

Put a hot woman in almost anything and it will look good.

  3. eyeofthetiger says:

What is really humorous that dumbass blog doesn’t say is that in the Muslim world the women look more like wanna-be Italian gansters who constantly wear track suits.

  4. Its amazing how deluded we in the west can be
It makes Neville Chamberlain and the 1930’s peace in our time look like a piker

  5. Paddy-O says:

    Don’t they get hijab head?

  6. Perhaps I’m missing something here, but isn’t the purpose of this garment to avoid tempting Muslim men into sinning? Isn’t the whole point antithetical to the whole point of the fashion industry?

Will we start seeing fashionable sexy nun’s habits next? What about fashion wear for hip Hasidic crowd?

Silly (and hypocritical) in the extreme.

  8. Jana says:

Maybe certain commentors here should go and learn what hijab actually is, rather than what they ASSUME it to be… since when has covering oneself from head to toe in loose, opaque clothing become ‘sexy’?

  9. Jim says:

This will do to the Muslims what we did to the Hippies and Gangs. Main stream them. It’s hard to take them seriously at K-mart.

If you study laws of a people you will see the most attention and the harshest penalties in areas where there have been the most problems.

For Muslims this has been rape, apostasy, homosexuality, theft & adultery.

Laws are made after a problem becomes common and threatens the entire society, not before.

So, you are right in pointing out this inconsistency.

From article: “Muslim girls are very conscious of the way they dress. When you wear a headscarf you stand out as a Muslim, so what kind of message are you also sending out if you look drab or messy?”

Muslim girls are conscious because they fear being killed by their family members.

If they look drab or messy, that’s a good thing, because then they, women, won’t be accused of flirting or looking promiscuous. Allah forbid, if your daughter or wife is very attractive.

    #6, 10,

Yeah, I’ve always been under the impression that they are supposed to be modest looking. Being “fashionable” seems counter to the intended purpose.

You mean the submissive female stance?

    She’s also Anglo.

  15. MikeN says:

Well British Muslims tend to look somewhat approvingly on sharia law and killing for Islam. Now they are making it fashionable.

  17. mike cannali says:

It would be a crime to hide that babe in a burka

  18. deowll says:

I thought they were supposed to get a woolen gunney sack and cut eye holes?

A bad joke no doubt but showing the face in many places would get them caned.

That’s the problem with the youth of today. No proper respect for traditon.

Of course traditon often bleeps when it comes to women and Islam.

  19. Said says:

I think it’s sexy when the nipples poke out of the hijabs.
