Police in Dallas have uncovered cocaine with a street value of $400,000 – in a police car.

An undercover officer in Dallas discovered nearly 50lb of the drug as he was cleaning the car his squad had been using for two months. The cocaine was hidden in hydraulically controlled secret compartments.

The vehicle was seized at a crime scene earlier this year. It was put into police service after a search by the narcotics squad found nothing unusual…

I suppose if he wasn’t a tidy copper, the car eventually would have ended up being sold.

Thanks, K B

thats why if you’re dealing with this amount of dope, you’d have a failsafe way of relocating it after it was stolen GPS / cellphone to call/msg you periodically once a week to a safe house/number hey any dope dealers want my contraption? i want “a piece of the action” -CPT kirk will hack for sex/drugs/revolution

    “Nearly 50lbs.”

That is just what he turned in. He was under the back seat looking for change.

  4. siu says:

Really you got to wonder how much they kept?
“hidden in hydraulically controlled secret compartments”WTF

  5. jcdean says:

I want to see how this was done! I would like such a well hidden compartment so I can leave my laptop and camera gear in my vehicle.

  6. KD Martin says:

This was also reported in the Dallas Morning News. Strangely, the TV stations didn’t give it much (if any) coverage. Hmmm.

  7. eyeofthetiger says:

Does this mean the DEA can seize the car from the PD?

  8. supraman215 says:

LOL that’s so funny. They are using the classic line that criminals always use on them “It’s not mine dood I had no idea it was even there.”

And how often do they believe the criminals, that’s how often we should believe these cops.

On a related note, here is any interesting map showing the availability of marijuana in the U.S.

  10. John Paradox says:

I remember it but can’t find the story:
a non-profit in Arizona (Southern, semi-rural, e.g. Benson, Sierra Vista) had gotten some vans that had been ‘seized’. They found some drugs (don’t recall type or amount) and it was reported in one of the local newspapers (actually, picked up later by several other papers)

    J/P=?

  11. deowll says:

Did anything happen to the narcotics squad that found nothing? Just asking.

  12. Rick Cain says:

    Yeah….right. Arrest that cop immediately.

Any drug dog that doesn’t have the flu would have sniffed out 50 pounds of cocaine immediately.
