Check out the madcap video of a peace officer who body slams an obviously distraught woman for no apparent reason. That wacky guy in blue knocked her unconscious, fractured her jaw, and bruised her entire face. Hilarious stuff. And the punchline? That wild and crazy guy arrested her and had her charged with obstruction. Wow, the producers of Family Guy should hire that guy, ’cause he is hilarious!

Here’s the full story from the Associated Press:

A police officer who body-slammed an unarmed woman and broke her jaw during a medical call to a suburban restaurant last year was arrested Friday and charged with civil rights violations.

Federal prosecutors said Yonkers officer Wayne Simoes used excessive force when he grabbed the woman by the waist, hoisted her in the air and slammed her, face first, into a tile floor.

The takedown, recorded March 3, 2007, by security cameras, knocked Irma Marquez unconscious and put her in the hospital for four days. At the time, authorities said the officer was trying to keep her from interfering with emergency medical technicians summoned to the restaurant to assist her niece, who had been hit in the head with a bottle

Despite the nature of Marquez’s injuries, which included a broken jaw and bruises over her entire face, law enforcement authorities initially sided with the officer.

Marquez was arrested and charged with obstruction of governmental administration, and an internal inquiry cleared Simoes of any wrongdoing. After the Justice Department informed the city that it was investigating, Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone held a news conference to praise the department, saying its officers “do their jobs the right way in full accordance with the law.”

A Westchester County jury, however, acquitted Marquez of the obstruction charge. Weeks later she sued the police department for $11.3 million.

Nowadays they’d’ve just tased her. No audio to the clip but it seems obvious to me the officer told her to get down on the floor and she refused. Police should be diplomatic and patient and they are in some countries, not in the US though. She was probrably drunk, who knows what kind of rude shit she did to provoke the cop, or maybe he had a bad day. The fact is if a cop tells you to do something, do it, and be as nice as you can, or end up like this girl. Not that this justifies what the cop did.

I’m not sure how anything in this clip except her getting slammed is “obvious”. Perhaps you’ve forgotten that we’ve the right to be innocent until proven guilty and in no way did this woman deserve to be slammed to ground like that. Even is she was drunk (she’s in a bar) she was doing little more than waving her arms. There were two “peace” officers, and they could have handled the situation in a much more civil and appropriate fashion.

IMO…cops were wrong, despite the woman’s behavior.

    lol fu**ing scumbag cop.
He can’t even do his job right , piece of shit!

Send these cops to north korea imo.

“an internal inquiry cleared Simoes of any wrongdoing”

Simoes, be careful what you ask for.

Because you just might get it.

Decency, security, and liberty alike demand that government officials shall be subjected to the same rules of conduct that are commands to the citizen… If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy.

This is the kind of cop that, at a murder scene, would draw a happy face in the chalk outline.

  6. lou says:

Just goes to show how full of crap the cops are.

  7. John Galt says:

I’m in favor of incidents like these.

Americans willfully chose a police state.

    They deserve what they get.

Suck it up: Enjoy your lust for authority, you boot-licking sheeple!

  8. Freyar says:

Even if the woman was obstructing she in no way deserved enough of an injury to be rendered unconscious for four full days, and a broken jaw in that case too.

This officer was completely out of line regardless and the maneuver was completely unnecessary. There were two officers there and she could have easily been restrained otherwise. I hope in the end the department wises up and sees this as a mistake. Police have a dangerous job, and crap lilke this only makes it worse.

  9. Patrick says:

“Weeks later she sued the police department for $11.3 million.”

Crappy atty. Should go for $113 million. THAT might put pressure on the city to clean up the Dept.

  10. Mr. Fusion says:

If there was an internal inquiry that cleared Simoes from any wrong doing, then the other cop beside her would have had to lie. Gee, do you think telling a fib during an official investigation might rise to “Obstruction of Justice”?

Until cops like this are criminally charged there will continue to be repeat cases like this.

So if a cop asks you to give him a blowjob…….

Police have no moral right to tell you to do anything. Yes, legally they can get away with murder, but how many laws can be said to be morally just?

#11 depends on how much he has on me. A BJ now or someones bootie boy later you make the call. Remember you have no rights while under restraint.

  13. T Trimper says:

Right now, the law gives longer sentences to people for attacking pigs as opposed to attacking civilians. If pigs want that sort of protection, civilians should be protected from abuse by pigs in the same way.

Imagine if I did to the pig what he did to the woman in the video. How long a sentence would I get? Double that length of time and sentence the pig to that term in prison. And let it be known to other inmates he was a pig.

Instead, the pigs got a slap on the wrist instead of the slap upside the head with an aluminium baseball bat as he deserves. Pigs are supposed to uphold the law, but instead hold themselves above it.

  14. Rick Cain says:

Blame the citizen for siding with police no matter what. Juries do it, public opinion does it, and the pro-cop mentality allows massive abuse because of no repercussions.

  15. Smartalix says:

Bad cops are the reason nobody trusts any cops.

Hey, I might. The fact is if somebody with a gun – cop, robber, or some old lady – tells you to do something it’s just smarter to do it. Cops are people, and sometimes dogs, but they’re just as likely to end up psychos as anyone else maybe moreso. I sympathize with the girl, there she is worried about her niece, not thinking about the pigs. They try to keep her out of the way of EMT’s and shit get’s oughta hand. It’s a dangerous world, hysterics can get you killed. If you think you got a right to something better, you’re foolin’ yourself.

  17. livvidd says:

We lived next to a cop when i was growing up, He was a real dick! All us kids Hated him. We burned half of his house down when they were on vacation. Darn those firemen!

  18. Steve says:

#1’s simplistic advice seemed to me to be the reason we’ve descended to this horrible police state we’re in. But then #16 said almost the same thing and made perfect sense. Ultimately an individual has to consider the alternatives and consequences and act in their best interest. There are times when standing up to a cop is the best thing to do. But a cop with a gun in a room full of cops with guns is usually going to have the upper hand.

  19. Shin says:

    #18

How about the Florida model? A cop with a gun in a room full of citizens with guns? Think he might have thought twice then? Where’s the usual gang of righties, standing up for the authority figures no matter what? Or for that matter, standing up for the 2nd amendment no matter what…^_^

  20. ECD says:

#13 hit the nail on the head IMO.
