In 1978, when Microsoft was three years old and based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, there were only a dozen people working for the company – compared with the current number of almost 90 000 employees worldwide.
Thirty years on from the taking of the original photograph, the Microsoft staff who worked at Albuquerque were reunited to recreate the photograph.
Wonder what their net worth is, nowadays?
I feel odd about the man in the back right of the second photo. Hiding in the shadows. What’s that about?
Could someone provide names and who is missing in the current picture? I recognize only one person in each picture. Thanks.
Click on the article and it has the answers. The missing guy is Bob Wallis, who died in 2002.

I think that’s “Woz”!
All but 3 got fat.
So Bill was the most normal one of the bunch?

Woz really gets around.
Founding Apple and MS is a pretty great accomplishment.
What didn’t that guy found?
A lousy photo in terms of lighting – was Gates too cheap to hire a professional? But, fun to see it nonetheless. In recent years Gates seems to be becoming a bit more human and I hope that continues.
#8:
Woz NEVER worked at MS — ever.
#8 Must be on meth …
If you told me that was a group photo of the biggest serial killers of the 70s, I’d believe you.
Gimme the two nerdy papa bears from the upper right corner.

Oh maaaan… can’t you just smell those 1978 geeks from here. (sniffing own armpit)
Who is the missing guy?
Did he die, refuse to be photoed or is Bill Gates trying to retcon him out of history 😉 ?
Microsoft’s 30 year old virgin club.
Without MSFT there would have been some lonely DNA.
Glad to seem to have been able to afford decent clothing and a haircut before they took the second picture.
Damn dirty hippies.
I think Bill G. was smart to eschew any facial hair. It just wouldn’t look right.
As for Woz, he’s hanging out with Kathy Griffin. I can’t believe she’s not banging him…I mean its WOZ, come on lady get with the program, he’s an historical icon, you’re just a comedienne.
I can’t work out whether that’s John Travolta or Tom Jones in the middle there with the red pullover.
