With all those Firefox bits shooting around the Interwebitubes on Tuesday, sounds like I should do something else then. After downloading the new version, of course.

Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours – it’s that easy. We’re not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

The official date for the launch of Firefox 3 is June 17, 2008. Join our community and this effort by pledging today.

Download Day

Just installed F3RC3, and it is faster loading a site such as this blog.

They improved the bookmarking tool, that’s nice.

  2. Bob West says:

I have it as well as IE7 and Opera. I like them all for different reasons.

  3. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

I may not be able to help bring Osama bin Laden to justice, but if I can help Firefox be recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records, then I will not have lived in vain.

I will do it for the children.

  4. h3rald says:

Opera 9.5 and Firefox 3 are both very good browsers and better than their predecessors, as I recently outlined on my blog.

  5. James Hill says:

Can any Mac users let us know if Firefox is better than Safari and Camino yet?

  6. QB says:

Firefox 3 on the Mac is pretty nice. I use FF 3 on both Windows and Mac daily and in the past the Mac version was nowhere near as nice. Now FF feels like a Mac application (appearance, dialogs, etc) and runs as quickly as the Windows version (page loads, startup, etc).

It has more features than Safari and renders at about the same speed. Haven’t used Opera in a long time since it’s been so long between upgrades but I may try it again with 9.5 release.

I never use IE since I find the whole interface kind of kludgy and the security settings confusing.

What might be your reason for liking IE7?

  8. Jess Hurchist says:

I don’t like IE7enough to use it in preference to Firefox but at work it does ‘feel’ good. Response feels engineered not put together. I only wish all MS products felt as good.
I have found that my work native SAP user interface which works with IE6 doesn’t work with IE7 but whether it’s work or IE I wouldn’t like to say. The SAP web interface works with IE6 & 7 and Firefox

  9. hhopper says:

My big question about FF3 is will the add-ons work with it? I seriously rely on various add-ons.

Opera is, without a doubt, the fastest browser. The problem is, it doesn’t have all the cool bells and whistles that FF has.

  10. Bob West says:

Among my likes of IE7, are favorites management, quick tabs, Hide the standard menu with the Alt key.

Some do, some don’t. A tragedy for me is that the “Countdown Until Dumbya’s Gone” counter that gives the number of days until he’s outta there, does NOT work.

  12. Floyd says:

I plan to wait on my FF3 download until after the release date. Why conflict with millions of downloads?

  13. green says:

The web told me to so I guess I have to partake….

  14. If they list us all out in the Christmas edition of the Guinness Book of Records then count me in… if not, nah.

That said, it would just encourage mother-dearest to purchase *another* copy. Perhaps I will wait until the day after too.

    Ian.

  15. Shane says:

lol. I will be camping in the woods on tuesday.. camping ftw.

  16. exhook says:

Too bad Google Firefox Sync is not available for FF3. No upgrade here!

  17. Mr. Fusion says:

the “Countdown Until Dumbya’s Gone” counter that gives the number of days until he’s outta there, does NOT work.

That is reason enough to stay with FF 2.0 8)

The one add-on I have come to depend on to the point I couldn’t do without – Accu Weather. Especially with all the violent storms and tornadoes in the recent couple of weeks.

  18. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

The site has finally gone live with the final release, in the U.S. anyway…

Help set a world record, and then congratulate yourself with a pint of Guinness 😉

Don’t forget to print your certificate, Gary TDI:

(It’s the little touches that keep the campaign as weird as possible.)

  20. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

Thanks, K B. I’ll have to frame it and show it off at next month’s meeting of the Society of Infidels.
