Finally! I haven’t had a good night’s sleep since 9/11 worrying that Osama will crash a plane into my house. It’s about time we capture the devil and put an end to all terrorism forever. It’s not important how many US soldiers are killed in doing this. We need to feel safe again and help you secure your place in history! If you can do this, George, I take back every bad thing I’ve ever said about you! I can hardly wait!

Get Osama Bin Laden before I leave office, orders George W Bush

President George W Bush has enlisted British special forces in a final attempt to capture Osama Bin Laden before he leaves the White House.

Defence and intelligence sources in Washington and London confirmed that a renewed hunt was on for the leader of the September 11 attacks. “If he [Bush] can say he has killed Saddam Hussein and captured Bin Laden, he can claim to have left the world a safer place,” said a US intelligence source.

Bush arrives in Britain today on the final leg of his eight-day farewell tour of Europe. He will have tea with the Queen and dinner with Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah before holding a private meeting with Brown at No 10 tomorrow and flying on to Northern Ireland.

The Special Boat Service (SBS) and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment have been taking part in the US-led operations to capture Bin Laden in the wild frontier region of northern Pakistan. It is the first time they have operated across the Afghan border on a regular basis.

He’s such an idiot. “Has he no shame?” I thought that at a recent briefing when he advised the press that America should use less oil, like the outing of Valerie Plame, all as if he had nothing to do with the issue.

Easy to guess in context, but I had not heard of a “reaper drone” before as mentioned in the linked article.

“President George W Bush has enlisted British special forces”

What??? Does this mean he has no faith or has given up on our troops?

    “in a final attempt”

Give it another shot eh? What’s he been doing all this time?!? Golfing?

  3. B. Dog says:

It’s nice that he shows an interest. Sometimes he doesn’t.

“President George W Bush has enlisted British special forces in a final attempt to capture Osama Bin Laden before he leaves the White House.”

Why didn’t he call James Bond earlier than now? Jackass.

  5. Steve says:

I go back and forth between,’He doesn’t really want Bin Laden out of the picture.’ and ‘They really can’t find this motherfucker.’ Most of the time I cynically believe there’s more money to be harvested by having the face of the boogie-man lurking in the shadows. Is it a coincidence that most municipal vehicles have a big red 911 attached to them ?

  6. bac says:

Osama bin Laden has to be good because he has avoided capture by the best the USA has sent after him. Bin Laden’s next challenge is the British. The British have a secret weapon and it is called CCTV. Look out Afghanistan, you are about to be invaded by cameras.

  7. RTaylor says:

Amateur commanders fail to re-access mission objectives. Bin Laden isn’t important now, other than revenge. Kill him and you make a martyr, which is what he wants. Can no one in the West think like a Muslim? That’s how to defeat an enemy.

  8. eyeofthetiger says:

It was a political decision to not capture in Tora Bora. Sardines and soggy fries.

  9. politics_ass_usual says:

    Brilliant!

Capture or kill Bin Laden before elections.
    1) boost image and campaign of republicans
    2) Mission Accomplished! (7 years later)
    3) Martyr him just before Democrats win house, senate and white house, leaving a fine mess.

Very responsible. Either catch or kill him at the beginning of your term, or continue the “containment” strategy to minimize him and yet keep fear as tool for domestic and foreign policy leverage. (A containment policy you didn’t use on Saddam, btw. Strange inconsistency.)

  10. Awake says:

Remember when the US hostages in Iran were released just as Reagan was taking over the presidency? I hope that if the British do have a chance to capture Osama, they hold off until Obama is sworn-in… I don’t want Bush to get credit for a damn thing. He (and his conservative disciples) have managed to screw up everything that is good about America, he does not deserve the “I captured Osama” historical footnote.
Considering how the Bush administration totally screwed up the Afghanistan occupation and reconstruction, at this point Bush does not deserve a ‘leaving on a high point’ moment, since his disastrous policies will haunt us for decades to come.

    He’s managing a 7-11 in Tampa.

  12. Li says:

The FBI has still not charged Bin Laden for any crimes connected to 9.11

  13. James Hill says:

I remember when you liberals thought he was competent enough to have caught him and was keeping him in hiding until the ’04 election. You guys are so cute…

  14. Micromike says:

This has been a farce from the beginning. To pretend all the resources of the United States can’t find the only 6’4″ Arab in the world who gets dialysis several times each week. There is an unbroken trail of medical supplies leading right to this guy’s body and we have been careful not to find it in all these years.

  15. Mister Mustard says:

    >>I remember when you liberals thought he
    >>was competent…

    Hey, color us hopeless optimists.

Not to worry, Jimbo, there isn’t a soul on earth NOW who thinks he’s competent enough to do anything other than trip on his own shoelaces.

It may have taken us 7+ years to fully realize the depth and breadth of his stupidity, but we get the picture now.

  16. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

While Bush is renewing the effort to capture bin Laden, who is in charge of the effort to bring Bush to justice?

  17. Awake says:

    James…

At least 30% of the population has NEVER thought Bush was competent for even one moment.

70% of the population has had HOPES that Bush was competent at some time during his presidency (mainly that he would respond to 9/11)… after all… we have to have some hope in our country and it’s government.

What is most amazing is that 26% of the population still have ANY belief in the competency of the loser that we have leading the country. More than anything, it makes you wonder about the mental competency of that 26%.

  18. eliot2000 says:

Wait… so up until now, was catching Bin Laden one of those to-do list items you keep meaning to get around to but never find the time?

remember when bush said….all he ever thinks about is bin laden……but then later ..he said i don’t even think about him…..it’s not a priority….this is just a smokescreen…much to do about nothing …let’s stay focused on electing obama and gaining more seats in the senate and house

  22. MikeN says:

bobbo, Bush wasn’t involved in outing Plame. That was the work of Richard Armitage, and Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald knew this fact within weeks.

  23. ZZ says:

http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/fugitives/laden.htm No 911 charges because it was not done by Al Qaeda/Usama bin Laden.

Rest in peace Usama bin Laden, until you are needed for US presidential elections.

  24. Jurjen says:

    Shouldn’t be hard.

  25. Canadian Redneck says:

“…final attempt to capture Osama Bin Laden before he leaves the White House.”

He’s been in the White House all this time? I never would have thought of looking for him there.

  26. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

#22 MikeN wrote, “Bush wasn’t involved in outing Plame. That was the work of Richard Armitage, and Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald knew this fact within weeks.”

You say that almost as if Armitage was the only leaker. Not true. There were several leaks and several leakers. Even Novak himself attributed his information about Plame to “two senior administration officials” (from his original column). And Matt Cooper of Time Magazine learned that Plame worked at the CIA from Karl Rove, with Libby providing vague confirmation that he had heard the same thing.

Multiple leaks and the lies to cover up those leaks is the reason that Fitzgerald’s investigation took so long. Right wingers like you prefer to focus on Richard Armitage because he was the most inadvertent of the leakers. Others were less innocent.

  27. Mr. Fusion says:

    #15, Mustard,

there isn’t a soul on earth NOW who thinks he’s competent enough to do anything other than trip on his own shoelaces.

That is why his mommy makes him wear velcro shoes.

    #21, jlove,

this is just a smokescreen…much to do about nothing …let’s stay focused on electing obama

You have a point, BUT, this is one of the men responsible for the blatant murder of 2800 people on 9/11. I say bring him to justice. I don’t want to see him killed first, I want to see him in a courtroom, preferably the World Court in the Hague, answering for his crimes.

    #22, Lyin’ Mike

Bush wasn’t involved in outing Plame.

You’re right. It was Cheney that led the effort. But keep telling yourself that Bush didn’t say there would be no room in the White House for anyone who outed Plame and you really wonder. Well, you don’t.

  28. MikeN says:

#26, Rove and Libby’s statements were along the lines of ‘I heard that too’ when asked by reporters(plus they heard the fact from reporters). Armitage started the whole process rolling.

  29. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

#28, You’re confused again. Libby tried to establish his alibi that Tim Russert was his source for the information about Plame’s employment that he then relayed to others, but the jury decided that he was lying.

The jury has already decided that you’re lying when you repeat Libby’s alibi.

  30. JimD says:

I don’t know if anyone remembers when Bush went to Saudi Arabia and returned with no statement from his press office why he made the trip ??? We also need to remember that Bush got his start-up money for the Bin Laden’s in his quest to become a “Texas Oilman”. Bush was so successful finding oil in Texas (NOT!) that he had to go into Politics and make his money STEALING REAL ESTATE FROM ORDINARY TEXANS FOR HIS SPORTS STADIUM, which sold for 10’s of millions !!! Anyway, he had to go to Saudi Arabia because he was SUMMONED BY HIS MASTERS AND TOLD TO ***LAY OFF OUR SONNY BOY, OSAMA*** !!! Then you might recall that Bush then said “Osama doesn’t matter” !!! So we have had the SAUDI AGENT IN THE OVAL OFFICE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA !!! Ordinarilly this would be called TREASON !!! Remember he also tried to sell off our ports to another Arab Corporation !!! Bush must have KISSED AN AWFUL LOT OF ARAB ASS IN SAUDI !!!
