Afghan and international troops have launched a desperate hunt for more than 1,100 prisoners NATO said escaped a jail in Afghanistan when Taliban rebels blasted it open.

The Taliban said 400 of its own fighters escaped when the rebels attacked the facility in the southern city of Kandahar with suicide bombs before shooting the guards…

“Afghanistan national security forces and ISAF forces have cordoned off the area to re-establish security and recapture the escapees,” said General Carlos Branco, a spokesman for NATO’s International Security Assistance Force…

Six of the escapees were recaptured during operations by security forces in villages outside Kandahar.

Well, there’s an accomplishment. Only 1,094 to go.

Unbelievable! We run an ‘amateurs night’ over there??? Who the f…k is responsible for this shit? Send him home to be a meter-maid! Jeeezzzz

  2. Dallas says:

Well at least there’s something to do while we are there for another 100 years.

  3. Brandon says:

If these prisoners had been in Guantanamo Bay, they would not have escaped.

  4. Jägermeister says:

Time to book that Taliban Hunting Trip you’ve always talked about…

#3 – yes, and if the moon had risen in the East it would have been Thursday.

  6. RCopeh says:

    “Taliban jailbreak releases 1100 prisoners”

And there was me hoping that the Taliban had resorted to running unapproved application on their iPhones.

    Ho-hum.

Probably were flown to Pakistan and paid in gold bars.

  8. sirfelix says:

Maybe if the US military had stayed full force in Afghanistan instead of moving into Iraq this wouldn’t have happened. Or, it would have still have happened as a measure to “Stay the Course”.
Another move in the chess game called the New World Order.

  9. Brian says:

8-You’re absolutely right. If we had adequate forces in Afghanistan instead of in Iraq this wouldn’t have happened.

And color me jaded, but I have to think that this type of stuff is allowed to justify our continued occupation.

  10. Efficiency says:

I guess these third world types are learning western efficiency
When these same fighters or workers were given Stingray missiles – those in the west said it was of little value and concern since they were backward third world types who could never master the product or service
Guess again – it shows that if a party or group is motivated enough look at how they can channel their energies to an am amazing amount of effectiveness and efficiencies

  11. ECA says:

90% of our TROOPS are not in Afghanistan…
Looking in the LAND that STARTED this war..

They are in IRAQ, fighting for OIL..
    Forcing prices UP..

when did we STOP looking for Bin Laden..

  12. MikeN says:

The majority of US troops are not in Iraq.

    Oh Cana-duh.

  14. Mister Mustard says:

    >>The majority of US troops are not in Iraq.

    >>Where are they?

Lyin’ Mike, you’re lyin’ again. Don’t they have a 12-step program for that?

  16. Naom says:

Two thumbs up to the Taliban! Like ’em or not, it’s THEIR country and THEIR countrymen.
The US is a FOREIGN OCCUPYING power, there for geopolitical control and domination of that part of the world. The longer the US stays, the harder the Afghanis will fight to rid their country of the US raping Beast just as they fought the Soviet Beast and forced them out.
Just as in Iran, the longer the US stays an Afghanistan, the sooner the US will be bled to death, as was the late Soviet Union before them.

  17. Mister Ketchup says:

Our soldiers are supposed to be prison guards too? Wasn’t this the job of that rent-a-cop group on steroids? Their name escapes me at the moment…

  18. Maxwell Smart says:

… underestimated them by … this much!

  19. MikeN says:

#15, is your link supposed to prove something?
I think I need a 12 step program to understand your link. It seems to be number of troops or something, in which case in fact the majority of US troops are not in Iraq. However, it can’t be that, because I’m pretty sure Russia has more than 17000 soldiers in its army.

  20. jescott418 says:

Who’s watching the jail?? Must have Barney watching it. I guess it’s nothing 50,000 more troops won’t solve. Oh wait, we don’t have 50,000 more troops left.

  22. ECA says:

    Noam,
It isnt the Afghans that are fighting BACK..
    Its the taliban.
    =====================================

    United States 393,569 140,000 Iraq-OIF (CENTCOM)
    73,500 Germany (EUCOM)
    41,360 South Korea (PACOM)
    40,680 Japan (PACOM)
    38,160 Kuwait-OIF (CENTCOM)
    11,965 Italy (EUCOM)
    9,877 United Kingdom (EUCOM)
    8,500 Afghanistan-OEF (CENTCOM)
Seems to me, that 140,000 in IRAQ over 8500 in Afghan, is a MAJOR difference..
Im not talking SUPPORT personnel, or those on Vacation..
    Lets say it this way..
Out of ALL personnel…1/4 of ALL forces are in IRAQ(pumping OIL)…<2% are in Afghanistan
