Say anything against her and it is a hate crime!

Internet Warrior Rallies Women to Support Al Qaeda – NYTimes.com — More evidence to show how insane they are in the EU. This is like having Tokyo Rose during WWII living in and broadcasting from NYC. Since the local Muslims have failed to shut up this idiot, they must all be agreeing with her.

Malika El Aroud, seen in her living room in Brussels, has become one of the most prominent Internet jihadists in Europe.

In her living room, Ms. El Aroud, a 48-year-old Belgian, wears the ordinary look of middle age: a plain black T-shirt and pants and curly brown hair. The only adornment is a pair of powder-blue slippers monogrammed in gold with the letters SEXY.

But it is on the Internet where Ms. El Aroud has distinguished herself. Writing in French under the name “Oum Obeyda,” she has transformed herself into one of the most prominent Internet jihadists in Europe.

She calls herself a female holy warrior for Al Qaeda. She insists that she does not disseminate instructions on bomb-making and has no intention of taking up arms herself. Rather, she browbeats Muslim men to go and fight and rallies women to join the cause.

  4. N74JW says:

She’s an idiot! Is that a hate crime, or just an observation?

  5. Ah_Yea says:

I wonder if it’s appropriate to say “appeasement”.

  6. JPV says:

Gee… I guess you’ve never heard Michael Savage on the radio here in the US…

“Since the local Muslims have failed to shut up this idiot, they must all be agreeing with her”

John, since you have failed to shut up ME, you must agree with ME.

    True or False.

Go ahead, let’s hear your answer about shutting up Americans and your implicit agreement with the opinions of another that supposedly follows.

  8. I think we should all start wearing table cloths, at least on casual Friday.
    Toga, toga, toga!

  9. Geoffrey says:

All men are born with the inalienable right of liberty, prominent among such liberties being the liberty to speak one’s opinion, including you.

(Go ahead, share your opinion of me now. I know you wanna. It’s cool with me. Sticks and stones, bro.)

Respect and protection of the rights of all men to speak their opinion does not imply agreement with their opinion. What don’t you understand?

If this idea is foreign to you, then you really don’t know what it means to be American.

Don’t treat the US Constitution like a piece of toilet paper.

    Read it

    Learn it

    Live it

#7. You beat me to it. : )
“… all must be agreeing with her”?
Can you even imagine how many people on the net talking about this n that? I heard there is one called “cranky gecko” or something like that.
And you don’t believe I have to know about every single muslim’s activity?! There are taxpayer supported agencies for that!
Just tell me how much do you get paid because of all these hits to your blog?

  11. McCullough says:

#10. You seem to enjoy the freedom of speech in other countries, how does that work for you in your country? Or are you presently enjoying the freedoms you cannot get in your native country, so I’m confused by your statement. A Muslim woman speaking out against Islam would be treated, how?

  12. Jägermeister says:

It’s good that she’s doing this online… it makes it easier for the police to track these nutters.

  13. muslim says:

“You seem to enjoy the freedom of speech… ”

What freedom of speech are you even talking about?
And why its the pattern all the time to start with “you seem to enjoy the freedom,” or “you seem to enjoy our democracy..” or “you seem to enjoy our white bread..” etc. when you think its a foreigner?
Firstly, you did not give me anything, let alone freedom. You seem to enjoy the native americans’ land and african slaves’ free labor and mexicans’ cheap labor, afghani poppy, iraki oil and others. I’m sure if my or someone else’s freedom depended on you, they would be in trouble.
Secondly, like I said, its stupid to make comments like “all muslims must agree” type generalization. Its a bait to get people’s attention and I want to let him know. I don’t know that lady, I am busy working to provide for my american family, I am not sitting on government aid or food stamps or even wik (vic?) so don’t generalize the muslims or anybody.
If you are really want to know how we enjoy our lives, visit a mosque or befriend a muslim family so you can write something firsthand.
What is John Dvorak anyway, a christian? Don’t tell me he does not have a belief, because every single one got one!

  14. McCullough says:

#13. How would this woman fare in speaking out in her native country? Please, enlighten me. Pretend I am just another ignorant American.

  15. muslim says:

The article says she is from Belgium. So, I don’t know. I just found about her on this blog.
    I don’t think you are ignorant,McCullough.

  16. McCullough says:

But IF she were not Belgian, and wanted to speak out as a woman, say, against religious persecution, in an Islamic setting…how would that be received, again, I am just asking.

  17. Stinker says:

#7, #9 Geoffrey…for the love of God please put down the spray can you’re sniffing from and flip to the section of the constitution that talks about giving aide and comfort to the enemey. (you can read complex and long sentences…can’t you? you’re old enough)

Then come back here and get your own words served back to you on a silver platter.

Selective reading of the document you revere so much won’t get you anywhere.

  18. Ah_Yea says:

We need go get REAL specific with Muslim.

So, what would happen if she were in Saudi Arabia or Iran and was trying to enlist Christian crusaders to fight against Islam?

    I also am curious.

Mind you, I don’t expect an answer from Muslim, because we already know…

  19. Wretched Gnu says:

“…while Belgium keeps thumb up Bunghole.”

Brilliant, John! What do you expect Belgium to do — send the woman off to Gitmo for saying stuff?

No? Didn’t think so. Enjoying your bunghole…?

  20. muslim says:

If a woman or man wants to speak on a particular topic he or she must have knowledge of that topic and must be backed by evidence. Once these criterias met, it does not matter if its said by a woman or men. You think women have no rights in islamic countries, I think. In islam men and women are equal, but that does not mean they are the same or interchangeable. They both have their differences, thus the requirements and responsibilities and duties. Thats where Islam looks strange to western eyes. try this link. http://www.jews-for-allah.org/women-Judaism-and-Islam/

  23. boru says:

Thank you Geoffrey for the humor of your posts. Do you remember “The Life of Brian” and the imperious demand of “Nail some sense into him!”

Muslim, your first couple of postings somewhat disturbed me but you started to sound in your further threads as my Muslim friends speak.

Religion is not a language we must pronounce, if you please. It is a kindness we must share.

  24. Greg Allen says:

I didn’t read the article but is this woman any worse than the weapons hoarding, Right Wing militias here in the US who spew their hate and violence?

Seems like pretty-much the same thing, to me.

Is the US “insane” for letting our own potentially-dangerous wackos have freedom of speech?

  25. Firas says:

Did any of you read the first part of the quotes? It says that she wears shirts and jeans, which means she isn’t even a devout Muslim and does not dress in black. Its just an online persona, a very derogatory one to Muslims at that. And by the way, the whole black from head to toe thing is NOT mandatory on all women, its just the Saudi wahabists who insist on it. Modest dress is important but most Muslim clerics do not say that women should dress in what some call “ninja style” or black bag or whatever.

Anywhoo, Ive seen many requests for a Muslim to stick around for an intelligent discussion from various members. As a self proclaimed moderate and educated Muslim, I would be glad to discuss any matter which anyone is interested in.

  26. gregallen says:

    >> Did any of you read the first part of the quotes? It says that she wears shirts and jeans, which means she isn’t even a devout Muslim and does not dress in black.

Many devout women wear BOTH jeans and the hijab or burkah. I’ve seen it a zillion times.

Typically, they wear the jeans in a setting with people they know and then put on the hijab when they go out in public.

  27. gregallen says:

Reading my post, I realize that I might sound disagreeable. Sorry. I actually agree with most what you say, Firas, and appreciate a Muslim voice here. (I’m a Christian who has many good Muslim friends and often find myself speaking up for you guys!)

I might point out that the Saudi Wahabists aren’t the only fundamentalist movement in Islam, by a long measure.

  28. Cursor_ says:

Despite the name and the nations of origin for its members, Al Qaeda does not in any way, shape or form represent muslims.

To call Al Qaeda anything related to Islam is like saying abortion clinic bombers and the KKK represent christianity.

Al Qaeda is a secular terrorist group that hides behind religion as a shield and excuse for their very human actions. There is no difference between them and the crusaders of the middle ages that killed in the name of the same god that muslims have.

Once again it is a ruse. A scapegoat and a farce by human beings to placate their own need for blood when they cannot comprehend other ways to problem solve.

They are fanatics. And she is supporting their patently incorrect methods by even non-religious ethical people.

In her country she has the right to support them by the law of the land. I do not suppport her use of such media to lend support to Al Qaeda, but I will not say she cannot or should not say what she wants within reason of law.

  29. Moneyrunner says:

Whenever a subject like this comes up, libertarians come out of the woodwork to defend the right to this woman and others like her to say whatever they want. The sacred right to freedom of speech without which the Republic would crumble, blah, blah , blah.

I wonder if those people have any sense of history and have heard of “Lord Haw-Haw” and Tokyo Rose. Lord Haw-Haw was actually an Englishman named William Joyce who broadcast an English language program “Germany Calling.” He was captured after WW2, tried for treason and hung. Can we have a few Libertarians comment on what a travesty of justice this was since his only crime was speaking up and he had a right to free speech?

Tokyo Rose was the name given to a number of women who broadcast Japanese propaganda to American troops during WW2. One of them, Iva Ikuko Toguri D’Aquino, was tried and convicted of treason, later pardoned by Gerald Ford. Can we have a spirited defense of these women’s right to free speech?

I also note the bizarre examples of moral equivalence between Islamofascists who kill people and Presbyterians who don’t. Between Jihadist who behead people and survivalist who don’t. If they are really equally scary to you, you have serious mental and emotional problems.
