What? That he had a pastor who turned out to be a little kooky for mainstream America, just like McCaain and Hillary?

If that’s the worst skeleton he’s got in his closet, he’s the sqeakiest-clean politician in Washington.

  2. HMeyers says:

Everyone in the world knows Obama is nothing like Reverend Wright.

Reverend Wright is just the excuse white hillbillies use for hating Obama, when it’s really because they are uncomfortable with him being black.

If it weren’t that, these hillbillies would have come up with some other reason.

The reason it doesn’t matter is those people either are Republicans or “Yellow Dog” Democrats who aren’t swing voters anyway.

Definitely free market. Single payer would be a disaster, and is not my idea of freedom.

“Free” market health care has failed, is failing now, and will always fail.

As to your idea of freedom, if you want to pay for a dream team of doctors chosen by you, you will always have that option. That’s always been the case in countries with “socialized medicine”. The difference is that their citizens have a right to medical care. Here, you only have that right if you’re a twenty-something kid with no health problems. Anyone who actually NEEDS medical care is pretty much fucked, unless their employer foots the bill.

    #26, Hopper,

Well, like him or not, he’s going to be our next president… John C. Dvorak said so.

Uummm, I seem to remember JC writing in a column back in ’01 or ’02 about how Bush would be a one term President. As correct as his rant was, his prediction was a little off.

  6. The Monster's Lawyer says:

#35 – You can’t blame John for his evaluation at the time. He didn’t realize how many times MikeN could vote.

  7. RBG says:

Hey listen, the day after one of them is deemed the official Dem candidate, they’ll go all kissy-face. For which they will win an honorary Oscar(TM AMPAS).

I have to believe that no matter what happens between them, Dems will still vote Dem & Repubs will vote Republican – seemingly a 50-50 split. So isn’t it something that the billions of total $ + time + energy needed by this election will be to woo the 1% of the voters who will make the difference? Wonder what kind of good you could have done with those kinds of resources?

@37 – But what of us independents? I am a moderate liberal when it comes to social issues and staunch conservative when it comes to the budget. I sure the to hell don’t want senator hot head as our president, let alone the change guy, when he ran away from the senate because no one would listen to him. Hillary, evil in her own way seems to be the only choice for us Regan democrats so to say. I just pray that a good indepent canidate comes out of left field by election season.

And anyone who states Nader for president needs to be shot! He killed this nations chance for Gore to be president.

  9. MikeN says:

#34, so basically under socialized medicine there is a certain minimum level of care paid for by the government, and everything above that, you only get the health care that you can afford and the poor be damned.

  10. Clubbietim says:

Barrack’s got everything a catchy phrase, money, and a nice jump shot. However, he’s lacking one moderately important the – a record!

He’ll bring a Jimmy Carter appeal to the White House and put the GOP back into power for the next 20 out of the 28 years…

With Hillary you know what you’re going to get. With Barrack the only thing you’ll get is a one term president…Nevertheless, my money is own the guy with the jump shot!
