Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. – and Bill

With tears in his eyes, President Clinton told a roomful of clerics this morning that he had sinned, speaking just hours before the world was presented a painstaking account by prosecutors of when, where and how.

Addressing an annual prayer breakfast at the White House, Mr. Clinton drew on the New Testament, the Yom Kippur liturgy and Ernest Hemingway as he made his most abject confession yet of personal failure, while declaring that he would defend and redeem his Presidency.

‘’I don’t think there is a fancy way to say that I have sinned,’’ he admitted softly, saying that after resisting expressions of contrition he had reached ‘’the rock-bottom truth of where I am.’’

Forgiveness is so important to Bill. And Hillary.

The invitation was dated Sept 11, 1998.
So, obviously, Clinton knew about the 9-11 attacks in advance!!!

  2. bobbo says:

American Politics–most stylistic Kabuki Theater ever.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabuki

Wiki doesn’t really catch how formalized the “art” form is but Kabuki is to theater as Kaubuki Music is to music.

But Seriously–I can understand how Bill Clinton gets continuing pay-offs but how does Hillary get any media credibility at all======as in “her experience?.

    Kabuki Theater.

  3. Ah_Yea says:

You’ve got to hand it to Bill. He is a master of media manipulation. He can turn a lie into a confession. He can shed a tear of remorse on cue. And he can do it convincingly.

Hillary should have been taking better notes.

  4. Ah_Yea says:

Kabuki Theater, I got the reference. LOL! that’s good!

  5. MikeN says:

And if you ask him about it now, he’ll get angry and yell at you.

  6. Esteban says:

    Score one for Obama!

  7. JimD says:

At today’s “Prayer Breakfasts”, Dumbya presides over the Televangelists who come to divy up the budget of the “Office of “Faith-Based Initiaves”, ie: STEALING BY RELIGIOUS WHACKOS !!! All funded by the TAXPAYERS OF THE US !!! God save America from these CROOKS !!!

  8. GigG says:

#6… I don’t think so. Any church leader that has (a) a large following and (b) is politicily active get invited to those things. This isn’t an out for Obama on his horrible choice of churches.

What I don’t understand is why he thinks it is even neccecary to go to church much less one that is lead by someone that he doesn’t agree with politicly?

I mean come on, he doesn’t need to hang on to religion or guns. It’s not like he is poor and from a samll town.

  9. gregallen says:

I swear — this Jeremiah Write bogus scandal has made me a bigger supporter of Obama than ever.

It was the same for that bogus, insanely-bad-for-America impeachment of Clinton… it made me support him more than ever.

It’s no wonder Clinton ended his term more popular than Reagan.

… and I think the more bogus crap they throw at Obama, the more his popularity will swell.

  10. bobbo says:

    #8–Gig==nice dig at the end.

“But”–all religious leaders are crazy, just talk to any of them long enough and you’ll get their version White Man’s HIV==why don’t all politicians be done with them?

  11. chuck says:

All Obama should say is “I don’t agree with Rev. Jeremiah White – and I won’t go to that church anymore.”

  12. bobbo says:

#11–Chuck==why should Obama do that?–ie, for what reason, on what basis, to advance what value position?

  13. admfubar says:

well at this rate electing an athiest is starting to look really good…

  14. Sinn Fein says:

This all boils down rather nicely to these choices:

    1. Put your faith in your favorite politicians and their impeccable integrity to always do the right thing for the people regardless of personal gain or, not. I kill me with that one!

    2. Put your faith in your not-so-infallible self…good luck with that.

    3. The Smartest & Best Choice possible: Put Your Faith in God.

  15. bobbo says:

    #14–Sinn==nice troll.

How about all authority figures seek power, power corrupts, nothing is infallible, there are pro’s and con’s to every option==when only one side is discussed (like your post) you are being exposed to propaganda, blah, blah, blah, ending with: there is no god.

  16. Mister Mustard says:

    #15 =–==- bobbo -=-===–

    Nice troll!

  17. Cursor_ says:

Yeah and the athiests have such a good track record over the religious ones.

    Tse Tung
    Pot
    Stalin
    Ceauşescu
    Xiaoping
    Castro
    Chavez
    Minh
    Milošević
    Jong-il

Oh yeah, we’d all love to live under their regimes.

Once again I will say it. Religion, or the lack thereof, has nothing to do with leadership. It is the HUMAN BEING that is the weak link in the chain, not some construct of human thought.

    Cursor_

  18. bobbo says:

#16–Mustard==thats very hurtful of you. Surely you can tell the difference between being a troll, and catching one out?

I know you can do that.

#17–Cursor, that’s a nice list, but what does it mean? Human beings—what chain are they a mere link in? I can guess but what human beings tend to do is “believe” in things, religious or lack thereof, that identifies them or places them in a group and says: “attack that other group.”

So yes, what religion and lack thereof do is hide the fact that we are all more human than anything else. No inherent links.

  19. OhForTheLoveOf says:

#15 – How about all authority figures seek power…

If you want to keep posting day in and day out about how ALL politicians are this and ALL politicians are that, then you MUST stop making posts that feature your other famous catch phrase about how there are no absolutes.

Assuming that corruption is a universal trait of all in leadership, without exception, is a lazy cop out to relieve yourself, the voter, the electorate, of the responsibility of participating in your own government.

As I like to say, get involved or shut up. 🙂

  20. bobbo says:

#19–OFTLO==you know consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds. No, I don’t wish to torture a clean sentiment with if and buts. Let the quibblers have their say.

Seriously–its all context dependent. Watch out for the bobbo.

  21. Mister Mustard says:

    >>you know consistency is the hobgoblin of
    >>small minds.

Bobster, what Ralph Waldo actually wrote is “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds”. Keyword being “foolish”.

As to your previous comment about my “hurtful” remarks, your posts are getting murkier and murkier. Did you not get a good night’s sleep, or what?

  22. bobbo says:

#21–Hey Mustard==thank you. Waldo’s version much sharper than my own poor recollection==I’ll try to remember that.

Murky, lost thought, bad typing, private context==all are bad. Not made better by 6 years of poor sleeping. Ever since I got off my waterbed and onto a normal mattress–but current floor won’t support it.

I’ve read that about every 7 years our biology changes in some noticeable way. Mine was sleep. I just hope it changes again.

  23. OhForTheLoveOf says:

    #20 – Seriously–its all context dependent.

Well, as long you aren’t claiming anything to be dependent on rational thought….

  24. bobbo says:

#23–OFTLO. Yes context. and by your post, we can see a departure from rational thought. Why would you do that? Oops. Why would you do THAT??????????????????? ((Too many ?’s, but in context, I thought you needed it.))

If a sentence/idea is only part of an argument to get to the gravamen, it is dilatory to slow down with most/many instead of all whether express or assumed.

When the same core idea is the central point, then yes, more care should be taken to be precise.

You mostly see this I hope?

  25. AaronSTL says:

    # 17 Cursor_ said,

Name one person on that pretty list of yours that didn’t replace god with himself. An ideology doesn’t have to be called Christianity, Islam, etc. to be a religion my friend…but that’s really beside the point. Besides being atheists can you see anything else those fuckers had in common? How about they were all dogmatic and abandoned reason. Just consider the atheist opposition to religion to be a small part of the larger opposition to dogma and irrationality.

Also, you forgot to mention all the mostly atheistic societies today that are more peaceful, healthy, and happy than their religious counterparts.

  26. julieb says:

Good job AaronSTL, unfortunately the religionists are going to ignore those arguments that makes sense.

Giving someone the advice of, “Have faith in god”, is no better than an insult. It offers nothing. No one even agrees about what god is and religionists want to push it on everyone. Such arrogance to make the fantastic claim that their god exists and they know exactly what he wants everyone to do in bed.

Religionists support rape, genocide, infanticide, and slavery. They are un-American and hate democracy.

This Wright thing has not hurt Obama a bit. Neocons are pissed about it. Funny thing is that their cult leaders including Farwell and Robertson have said the very same things. Why doesn’t fox news mention that?

And remember kids, there is no god. Believe in you own potential. You do not need permission to be a good person.

  27. Mister Mustard says:

    >>Religionists support rape, genocide,
    >>infanticide, and slavery. They are
    >>un-American and hate democracy.

Aw man. Have you ever met someone who believes in God, JulieB? You are so bitter, jaded, cynical, and deranged, you should probably be institutionalized. Criminy.

  28. bobbo says:

#27–Quite Right Mister Mustard. I don’t think those religionists are un-American either.

  29. julieb says:

Thank you for the reply Mustard. It seems obvious to me that those who believe in the bible are bitter and deranged.

Have you ever REALLY read it? Here is conclusive proof of my claims that religionists support rape, genocide, infanticide, and slavery. For the record, I do not support these things.

    Judges 21:10-24

    Numbers 31:7-18

    Deuteronomy 22:28-29

    2 Samuel 12:11-14

    Exodus 21:7-11

I also submit as evidence the claims of religionists who seek to inject god into the public arena regardless of the majority’s wishes and in disregard of the constitution, that they are in fact un-American.

How can you say otherwise Mustard?

Again, thank you for the reply referring specifically to me.

  30. bobbo says:

    #29–Julieb==that was cool. All from

    http://www.evilbible.com/Rape.htm

    I take it?

but what about the “New Testament?” You know, God apparently changes his moral instruction to make faith a requirement for heaven? Why? It’s a mystery, but he said so.
