State Senate OK’s guns-at-work bill

In the three-year duel over whether citizens should be allowed to conceal their firearms in locked vehicles at work, state lawmakers have decided Florida business owners will have to bite the bullet.

Don’t even think about asking my secretary if I’m in.

Siding with the influential gun lobby, the state Senate on Wednesday gave final approval to a compromise measure allowing employees to stash firearms in their parked cars, despite the objections or policies of their employers — as long as they have concealed-weapons permits.

Already passed by the House, the bill now heads to the governor, who has said he will sign it into law.

There is no way for employers to determine who has a permit and who does not, however, since the information is exempted from public records laws, and the bill bans them from asking about it.

That’s one way to stop employers from doing stupid things like Pizza Hut firing the driver who shot at a guy who was robbing him.

#32 – Precisely why I have not gone into a Pizza Hut since then.

#24–OFTLO==thanks. I’ll have to think about your analysis for a while.

But I will also correct the record==I’ve never seen a gun used, even by cops. I just get uncomfortable looking at some of them who happen to “have” guns.

Likewise about mandatory gun ownership. I was awakened at 200AM by a sound in the hallway. I got up out of curiosity and found a man as big as me 10 feet away just inside my entrance door. I said in a gruff voice, “Get out of Here.” and he turned and walked out of the door. I locked it and called the cops.

So, what would have happened if I had had a gun? Same thing, if he had done the same thing. One step towards me, and pow.

A week later a news item appeared that an adult retard had been caught walking into neighborhood homes just to look around. Don’t know if that was him. Don’t think it would make any cosmic difference if he had gotten blown away but I can imagine a lifetime of therapy for me if it had ever happened.

Can’t we all just get along?

I see no evidence that we can 😉
