A cottage (cheese) industry has sprung up of people searching for images of people and things in food, and making a few bucks off of it. I plan to cash in big — BIG, you hear! — with my Pam Anderson in Spam when the time is right!

Illinois-Shaped Corn Flake for Sale

Sounds a little flaky, but someone has offered more than $20 on eBay for a piece of breakfast cereal that is touted as a lookalike to the state of Illinois.

Two sisters listed “The Great Illinois Corn Flake” on the online auction site, promising it has undergone no alterations.

Emily McIntire, a 15-year-old sophomore in high school from Chesapeake, Va., said she was grabbing fistfuls of cereal on her way to class when she found the flake.

“It was almost to my mouth, it didn’t look like Illinois at first because it was held the wrong way,” said McIntire, but then she noticed the resemblance and said, “Oh my goodness, it’s Illinois.”

Her 23-year-old sister, Melissa, said their parents suggested selling it for fun. They’re offering free shipping to Illinois.

Not for nothing, but I’m sure I can find a state/country that will fit any given cornflake.

  2. Mac Guy says:

Is the Pam Anderson Spam pre- or post-reduction?

  3. BlackCat40 says:

Honestly I’m just glad a US teenager not from Illinois knows what Illinois looks like.

  4. JimD says:

Who said kids don’t know Geography and Maps ?

  5. Dallas says:

    Never mind Illinois.

I see the virgin Mary facing left and slightly upward with her right hand whispering something.

This flake could be worth quite a bit if it has not already been someone’s breakfast.

Totally! I didn’t know we were talking about Illinois so i started looking for a jesus face.. or mary…. And its there! Facing left, hands held in prayer. I say its more jesusy, see the beard?

I bet it could bring more money as a jesus face.

  7. OhForTheLoveOf says:

Even more amazing, that cornflake on the right looks exactly like an Eisenhower dime.

  8. JimD says:

Nah ! That’s an FDR dime ! Ike was on the Dollar coin !

Perhaps it was a prize in the cornflakes !

  9. OhForTheLoveOf says:

    #9 – DAMNIT!

I can’t believe I made that blunder 🙁 I should have known better.

    #10,

It’s ok, you were distracted by the Cherrios…

  11. Mister Catshit says:

    #8, OFTLO,

They do have an expressway in Illinois named after Eisenhower. In Chicago. From the air it looks a bit like a piece of spaghetti blessed by the Pope.

  12. Short Sword says:

    OhForTheLoveOf, JimD, and becagle,

I needed a good laugh real bad.

    Thanks for providing it.

  13. bjer says:

with a dremel tool and the right sanding disk, we could probably get a 50-state set…

  14. Mister Catshit says:

    #14,

That would spawn a whole new industry of colored maps of the states with holes to fit the flakes in. Great idea.
