bush.jpg With the troops being continuously sent back, aren’t there now soldiers in their 80’s out there fighting? And with a number of assorted efforts to help George become unemployed, perhaps we should help him get his dream job.

Bush “Envious” Of Soldiers Serving “Romantic” Mission In Afghanistan

President Bush let his inner adventurer out while discussing the state of the war in Afghanistan with military and civilian personnel. While those in Afghanistan detailed the logistical and diplomatic problems via teleconference, the President took a much more whimsical approach to their mission. Via Reuters:

“I must say, I’m a little envious,” Bush said. “If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed.”

“It must be exciting for you … in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You’re really making history, and thanks,” Bush said.

  1. K.N. says:

I say let curious George go. Maybe a dose of reality would do him some good. Then again, it might be far too late for him.

  2. Giles says:

Walk the ta…What am I saying. You cut and ran from your National Guard vacation.

  3. alex says:

Huh? The war is still going on? But Bush said it was “mission accomplished”! Doh, I guess he “fooled us twice” Or is that once?

  4. jlm says:

    fucking crazy.

  5. True Conservative says:

Anyone that considers a war mission ‘romantic’ has no right to be Commander in Chief. This statement of his alone should make every single thinking American turn their back on this putz.

  6. Hugh Bastard says:

Bush was at some stage in touch with reality?

  7. Dan of Grand Rapids says:

The phrase “lost touch with reality” assumes that at one point Bush was in touch with reality. That’s a stretch.

Damn, Huge Bastard beat me to the point . . .

  8. Karl Rove says:

No. We had to think of everything.

  9. ECA says:

“front lines of helping this young democracy succeed.”

    Umm,
Why dont we start this AT HOME??
Why do we have to GET EVERY OTHER NATION, running as a democracy, EXCEPT THE USA.

Who here, knows that BUSH’s Grand dad, tried to over throw the USA gov??

  10. Seth says:

Anyone using the word romance to describe war hasn’t been. Maybe that’s why he can so easily sends troops to a war of choice.

Iraq isn’t a friggin movie. Explosions don’t just take off arms and legs, they spray pieces of people into the air like confetti.

I wish there were an open forum and I could ask why didn’t he go to Vietnam when he was younger and not the president.

  11. Lewis Perdue says:

Geez folks, there’s an election going on.

    Election?

You know, throw the bastard out?

    George is going.

It’s time to offer an idea or two on how to make the future better.

    Visualize George gone………

Okay, visualize an idea NOT linked to George…….

    Somethine USEFUL.

  12. MikeN says:

Yeah, no one goes into the military for excitement. Everyone does it for the benefits of getting a college education paid for and padding the resume, and to enhance their political viability.

[No such word as noone. –ed.]

  13. billabong says:

In the hall of Presidents George will have a room all to himself. The shitter.

  14. McCullough says:

#12. I did it for both. I am grateful for the GI Bill, it changed my life, gave me a chance I wouldn’t have had ordinarily, but things were different then, the government honored their end of the bargain.

  15. whit says:

70 years ago “Peace in our time” and then 55 million lives were lost.

  16. http://www.dowlinginsurance.com/ says:

    Gilligan’s Island reruns
Where there is a party George will find it
    Even in Afghanistan
Guess the National Guard stint was one big party as well

  17. Mike Johnson says:

There’s a DJ in New York who has offered $10,000 to anybody who can prove Bush served in the National Guard and I believe nobody ever claimed the prize.

George probably still thinks Saddam had illegal weapons in Iraq.

Demented, coke sniffing drunk, that’s George for you. Pass that roach, please.

  18. MRN says:

“I reject your reality and create my own!”

  19. ECA says:

    11,
    want an idea??

EACH state selects someone to run…NOT the parties.
Then in 10 state groups, we select 5 of those to RUN for president.
    =============================
Next ALL money gathered For EACH, is Pooled, THEN given out to EACH EQUALLY.
    =============================
REAL debates…SIT down and DEBATE ALL DAY LONG. On ALL the subjects, Not just those PICKED to debate. AND an OPEN debate so Anyone can ASK a question.

    Wow!
Those are really good, sound and fair ideas.
I really like them BUT THEY WILL NEVER NEVER HAPPEN WITH THE PRESET WAY POLITICS ARE RUN!
Power leads to corruption which leads to resistance to change by the people who have that power.
That doesn’t mean we should give up on trying to change the system. It just means we need to think of more creative ways to make change happen……

  21. JimS says:

Spoken like a military wannabe with John Wayne syndrome, not someone whom has ever served. I’m told that there is nothing romantic about killing people for a living. I believe it.

  22. romantic soldier says:

When Shrubie talks of romance, remember that he is speaking of “8 inches, cut” in a marine uniform.

  23. ECA says:

Bush hasnt lost touch with reality…NOT his’ anyway.
He has lost touch with THE PEOPLE..He was never among them, so there want much to loose.
He loves the CORPS, and his family is among them.

  24. pjakobs says:

    # 19 ECA:

    neat idea, but….

do you think that the people of the United States would be so entirely different from the people of any other country? If there’s no pressure, most of us just couldn’t care less.

Why do you think election campaigns are usually fought in very simple words? No one wants to hear that it’s n outrageously difficult and complex task to run a country. Would you trust someone who makes those vague statements the diplomats are known for? Let me tell you one thing: the diplomats are honest, politicians aren’t. Still we tend to trust someone who says “here’s the solution, let’s roll!”.

It’s not even primarily a question of education. Humans are easily persuaded by seemingly simple solutions.
An openly discussed political debate would not get us an inch towards better politicians.

If there were no simple quotes, the people would vote for the candidate with better hair or whiter teeth.

Sorry, but I think that’s the state of the nation, or rather, the state of the world.

  25. Karl Rove says:

#10 says “I wish there were an open forum and I could ask why didn’t he go to Vietnam when he was younger and not the president.”

He didn’t go because there was a chance his own ass would be shot. George didn’t believe fighting for the rubber corporations was worth it in Vietnam.

Now, of course, he does believe that getting your ass shot for the oil companies is a worthwhile ambition for a young man or woman. Democracy in the middle east? Who is kidding who. Thats a reality leap that will never happen.

  26. Dallas says:

    He continues to impress.

When you thought he had touched bottom, you see he has started to dig.

  27. JimD says:

Bush lost all connections with reality when his Mom and Dad got him into Yale and then Harvard, and then paid his Profs so he could take (not earn) his degrees, all the while he was passed out in the Libraries of those institutions !!! He told himself, “There, that wasn’t so hard” !!!

  28. the answer says:

What exactly ARE the procedures for impeaching the President? or have we become more talk then action?

  29. Norm says:

Grant his wish and send him.

  30. Rabble Rouser says:

I would start a fund to pay for his air fare to send him to Iraq…. Permanently. We can even paint a target on him.
