Having looked at the trailers from the new Speedracer movie from the Wachowski brothers, the movie seems to be visually appealing. However, will a movie like this be appealing to adult audiences? Will nostalgia be enough to bring people to theatres?
Some of the acting in the trailer is quite dreadful.

  1. John says:

Looks like the actors spent a lot of time in front of a green screen. Could we get an action movie that actually has REAL stunts in it, please?

  2. Magnus Patris says:

    No.

  3. Personality says:

Nope. Looks like a steaming pile.

  4. Hoamie says:

they should have quit after the 1st Matrix

  5. Higghawker says:

I myself can’t wait to see this flick! I like how they have kept the feel of the cartoon, and the score I’m sure will be great. I grew up with Speed Racer, this is exciting.

  6. morram says:

Will it have the trunk monkey?

  7. tcc3 says:

Hoamie, I would agree with you were it not for V For Vendetta. It almost made up for all the bad will generated by Matrix II and III. One of the finest movies this decade.

  8. the answer says:

At least the animation isn’t all disjointed?

Yeah.. this one def. looks like all filler, no meat. Stealing someone else ideas, I mean reinterpreting them into their own vision. Hell yeah i’m gonna cheer for the Acrobatic Car Team (they were my boys). But this looks like they were playing a game *Cough* Wipeout *Cough* and said, Hey lets make a movie out of it with a buzz name no one soaked up yet. No one will figure out where we stole all the visual ideas from like our other movies *Cough* Ghost in the shell *Cough*

But then again what movies sell nowadays? Ones where you turn your brain off and stare at the pretty lights. Why? Because parents can take their kids there and they shut up for the two hours, and you can sit in a quiet room away from your bills and the phone( or at least try to thanks to the ass in the 4th row who didn’t turn off the phone) Not to say that isn’t a bad thing once in a while. Sometimes it’s good to put the brain on low power. Also it would be interesting to see if this movie becomes the new “benchmark” for hi def tv’s and players like Goldeneye did before.

  9. Named says:

If they hand out acid or shrooms at the door it will be even better…

I guess you can bring your own…

  10. MacBandit says:

It’s the not the Wachowski Brothers, at least not anymore. It’s the Wachowski siblings or the Wachowski brother and sister.

  11. Gasparrini says:

Well, the story about the sex change operation is bull, according to this:

  12. McCullough says:

Speed Racer? Was that a cartoon, I dont get it. I’m old.

  13. OhForTheLoveOf says:

We sure love having opinions 🙂

This movie looks like a fine popcorn crunching flick. The acting is all out of context in a trailer, so we don’t know if its bad or not.

But who knows until its out and you’ve seen it… This could be a masterpiece or forgettable fluff or indigestible sludge. Given all the factors involved, I’ll predict a better film than the consensus here thinks so far…

  14. Thomas says:

I used to be a big fan of Speed Racer…when I was 5. This looks awful. Not laughably awful, just painfully awful.

  15. amodedoma says:

One more fan of the original. Still, I’ll wait to download this one. Remaking – cartoons, comics, sitcoms, classic films, is it me or is there a total lack of interest in getting good original screenplays? I mean I’m sure if they’d stop worrying about turning a huge profit and started taking some risks and making some art they could get us back into the theatres. Yeah sure, it’s the pirates that are killing the industry, not those lousy money grubbing studio execs.

  16. Cursor_ says:

    Utter crap.

Speed would never have said anything about hurting others on purpose.
