A year and a half ago I posted an item on Bobby’s assassination. Here’s another one. Interesting stuff.

New evidence challenges official picture of Kennedy shooting

Now Van Praag has added new weight to the ‘two shooters’ theory. He reanalysed the only audio recording of the shooting, which was made by an independent journalist, Stanislaw Pruszynski. “At the time Pruszynski was not even aware that his recorder was still on,” said Van Praag.

The recording quality is poor, but it is possible to make out 13 shots over the course of just over 5 seconds, before what Van Praag describes as “blood-curdling screams” obscure the sound. That is more than the eight rounds that Sirhan’s cheap Iver Johnson Cadet 55 revolver carried.

Also, there are two pairs of double shots that occurred so close together it is inconceivable that Sirhan could have fired them all. The third and fourth shots and the seventh and eighth were separated by 122 and 149 milliseconds respectively. In tests, a trained firearms expert firing under ideal conditions could only manage 366 milliseconds between shots using the same weapon. And he was not being pinned to a table at the time.

  1. Daniel says:

I saw this on one of the conspiracy shows on TV recently. It is very compelling evidence. Heck, its better evidence than what they are going after Hans Reiser with.

  2. MikeN says:

I don’t suppose they could have heard echoes?
Why in the world would they need two shooters?

  3. WmDE says:

In magnetic tape recording there is an effect called “print through” that could account for more shots being played back than were recorded. This occurs during storage of the tape and is the result of the magnetic signal on one layer of tape leaking to the next layer in the reel.

Lastly, five of the shots – 3, 5, 8, 10 and 12 in the sequence – were found to have odd acoustic characteristics

This says “print through” to me. If they haven’t taken steps to eliminate the possibility, they are not experts.

  4. Dingman says:

    I agree, probably echos

  5. Andy says:

Agree with the previous comments that there are probably problems with the recording.

I’m wondering why the “trained firearms expert” was such a damn slow shooter, though. Jerry Miculek once emptied an eight-shot revolver into a target in 1 second. Although not a firearms expert, I can reliably fire a follow-up shot from a revolver in less than .2 second, which is a lot better than the “expert”‘s .336 second…

  6. James says:

    3, 4, & 5:

Why would you think an “acoustic forensic expert ” would not be aware of “print through”?

  7. MikeN says:

Like they said, probably not much of an expert. It takes an underqualified expert to get a conspiracy theory going.

  8. WmDE says:

#6 Judging from his website he’s been around long enough to know about print through. He also sells a CD of the tape in question for $12.

  9. James Hill says:

Maybe he should have asked the mob for permission, first.

  10. bobbo says:

HAH! There could have been 3000 shooters, but only one gun killed Kennedy, leading me to think there was only one killer.

On the same note, supposed to be an expose tonight on the tube about how the moon landing was faked. Good substantive stuff for the conspiracy crowd with Bush Exploding WTC to follow soon I hope.

BTW–( spoiler alert!!) film is too insensitive to capture stars in the sky.

  11. HMeyers says:

This guy has been dead for 2 or 3 generations.

    Let him rest in peace.

    It’s 2008, people!

  12. hhopper says:

He sure sucks at web sites though. His site is super lame. If that’s any indication of his expertise…

  13. Peter iNova says:

Kitchen full of pots, pans, journalists, body guards, shoes, murderer, sheet metal surfaces, cameras, excitement and a targeted politician.

Once the shooting started, everybody froze, whispering, “Don’t make a sound. In the future, we’re going to need this audio to count the shots. Shh!”

So of course there are thirteen shots.

There’s not a chance in the world a stainless steel metal surface, wooden surface, stove surface, table surface or sink component could have been impacted by a fist, foot, butt, camera, pot, pan, kitchen implement, head, arm, elbow or falling body.

    Not a chance.

Still, a man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest… Lie li lie…

  14. Ah_Yea says:

If he wasn’t out there making money off of all this, his credibility would be at least a little bit higher.

  15. Rick Cain says:

You obviously always have a backup shooter in any organized assassination, just in case…
The kennedys made a lot of enemies, with the war on the mob to the war on the military industrial complex to actions that angered the CIA and to the big money interests who feared the dissolution of the Federal Reserve.

Blaming Cuba or “terrorists” is an easy way to blame a convenient enemy for it.
