I see a Nintendo DS, an Apple iPhone and I’m not sure what the third one is. I don’t think they’ll be cutting an album any time soon.

    Tedium in D-Minor.

  2. chrisbutts says:

Eh… this one is way more impressive:

  3. GregA says:

Ok, this was covered back in the 80’s with the keytar. Keytar players are not rock stars. If you want to play an instrument and be considred sexy, hot, or desireable, it has to be either the guitar or drums. No exceptions.

  4. GigG says:

    Two iPhones/iTouch and a DS.

  5. bobbo says:

#3–Greg–Doesn’t Mick Jagger play the tamborine if anything?

  6. GregA says:

    #3,

He is an exception because of those lips. Not everybody can have lips like that. On the other hand, the only thing that makes Keith Richards desireable and sexy is that he is a guitar player. Meatloaf, not so much. Jerry Garcia, check. Moby, not so much, insite of wayyyyy to much trying.

  7. ECA says:

    3 instruments…
And a Laptop can do 64 midi devices??

    Whats so special?

  8. ECA says:

you also forgot the AMP and speakers…

  9. Miguel says:

Have you imagined what Kraftwerk or the Tangerine Dream would have done with these ‘toys’ 30 years ago?

  10. moe29 says:

Mick plays the guitar, piano, harmonica, bass, etc. The guy is talented…

    Moby plays multiple instruments too.

Igor Cavalera ex Sepultura doing DJ crap that ended up being a Nokia commercial!!?? How the might have fallen…so sad.

  12. Klippoth says:

Actually, the bezel is too wide on the one to be an iPhone (at least I think so). It looks more like some HTC device, maybe the Tilt, but running the faux iPhone interface. At least, that what I’m thinking it is…

  13. Mr Anonymous says:

Reminds me of Tubular Bells for some reason

  14. AppleFan says:

#12 – Go back and look at 0:05 in the video. iTouch…

#12: it’s called a protective skin. Many i____ owners buy them to protect their gear.

Guys, get a friggin keyboard for 1/3 the price!

They did have these toys back then.

They built them from plans, kits and experimentation.

Outside of the Monkees and Beach Boys, NO ONE bought synths and sequencers until the mid 70’s.

And even then the cash strapped newcomers like Dolby, Cabaret Voltaire, Jones & Throbbing Gristle still built many a board and system or programmed it themselves.

Hell the slap noise in Sweet Dreams are Made of This was a thin strip of metal against a door. T

Overall it wasn’t as impressive as it could be if you had say Florian, Thomas and Howard doing it.

    Now THAT would be amazing.

#13 – yes, it has that ‘experimental’ quality to it 🙂 I thought the same.

This might be a bit off topic but the nice thing about buying new electronics is they have a warranty. You are buying something that has moving parts or electricity going to it so it has the potential of breaking, there is nothing you can do but replace it, that does not mean the company that made the product sucks, it means the individual item sucked!
