You KNOW that as soon as advertising agencies hear about this they’re going to try to develop the concept in a different direction. Imagine walking into the mall and suddenly hearing Paris Hilton in your head extolling the virtues of her perfume or into a car showroom and hearing a voice telling you how tough their ram is.

Pentagon report investigated lasers that put voices in your head

A recently unclassified report from the Pentagon from 1998 has revealed an investigation into using laser beams for a few intriguing potential methods of non-lethal torture. Some of the applications the report investigated include putting voices in people’s heads, using lasers to trigger uncontrolled neuron firing, and slowly heating the human body to a point of feverish confusion – all from hundreds of meters away.

A US citizen requested access to the document, entitled “Bioeffects of Selected Non-Lethal Weapons,” under the Freedom of Information Act a little over a year ago. There is no evidence that any of the technologies mentioned in the 10-year-old report have been developed since the time it was written.

The report explained several types of non-lethal laser applications, including microwave hearing, disrupted neural control, and microwave heating. For the first type, short pulses of RF energy (2450 MHz) can generate a pressure wave in solids and liquids. When exposed to pulsed RF energy, humans experience the immediate sensation of “microwave hearing” – sounds that may include buzzing, ticking, hissing, or knocking that originate within the head.

Maybe there’s something to those tin foil hats — they could prevent this madness.

  2. MrBloedumpSpladderschitt says:

All research involving technology is a good thing. I don’t see any madness.

#2, even an ultra-mega death bomb, which instantly wipes out the entire universe? What if something like that got into the hands of terrorists?

I swear that during the first 5 minutes of Hillary’s smack down speech last night that I was hearing voices in my head from Bill. But then the networks cut her off and went to Obama’s speech, and the voices disappeared. I am no conspiracy theorist, but I bet they are using this technology… 🙂

This kind of thing makes me sick.

I knew a guy in college who swore that he was guinea pig for “psyops” when in the military and they messed with his mind so bad that it led to a lifetime of mental illness.

Of course, I doubted his claims. But it intrigued me and since then I have seen numerous articles and even a whole book which make his claim seem totally plausible.

That explains it !!! Bush must be standing next to an operating microwave when he “talks to God”, but all he hears is a buzzing sound !!! Sort of like his former cocaine buzzes !!!

    John:

There’s a significant difference between RF (microwaves) and lasers….

Given that evidence of competence, I’d discount the whole thing….

It _is_ known that microwave energy will badly affect people – I believe the Soviets were doing that to one of our embassies. I doubt if a laser would do anything except blind the “target” should it hit their eyes. Maybe a nasty sunburn spot.

(At some point the power levels could be dangerous enough to do harm, or kill, but it’s more like a gunshot.)

    The Matrix anyone?

If, as the article says about speech transmission: “In one experiment, communication of the words from one to ten using ´speech modulated´ microwave energy was successfully demonstrated.” and “With another weapon, electromagnetic pulses could be used to disrupt the brain´s functioning, although this technology was still in the theoretical stages at the time.”

Imagine sitting in a classroom, shutting your eyes, and having the entire textbook downloaded before class was over.

I know this sounds crazy, but having voices microwaved into your head was crazy just 5 minutes ago.

There are different types of directional audio techniques that are on the market in the civilian world. Radio waves can be broadcasted at close range in a very small area (e.g. soda machine). Depending on how the rig is set up you can have two people stand with their ears facing the direction of the machine and the one out of broadcast zone does not hear transmission. This technology was on Screen Savers a couple years ago.

    Light Speed Briefs (Futurama) anyone?

  12. Ubiquitous Talking Head says:

    Obviously not LASERS.

Probably MASERS, which have been around even longer.

It sounds 100% plausible to me, as long as you’re not worried about causing health issues in your “subjects”.

  13. jdmurray says:

    Microwaves cause heat?

    RUN!!!!!!

  14. WmDE says:

2,450MHz is used for wifi, telephones, and microwave ovens. The obvious conclusion is that once wifi and the telephones reach a sufficient saturation level a signal will be sent over the wifi/phone network to the microwave ovens. The ovens will then turn on us and destroy our way of life. As most of these devices are made in China….

  15. Stu says:

Saw all these things actually demonstrated on the Modern Marvels Show (History Channel) over a year ago.
