#61–Thinker==I took your post seriously, so I watched the video again. Could the kid have been street wise and smarter? Sure. Was he disrespectful?==not in my book. The cop was on an authority trip of the worst kind==he should be charged with assault and battery.
The kid only tries to explain he had not heard the cops question–the kid may have had earphones on from what the cops says? Then yes he talks while the cop is talking about a very emotional subject for him–aka, he doesn’t have a father.
So, you tell me. You think the kid was really being disrespectful and mouthing off or just being honest and naively responsive to a nutbag?

I am 24, I have no kids, but I am tutoring students in high school. Former music-education major.
I don’t mouth off to the police, I show them the respect they show me. If they’re asshats, they don’t deserve anything more than what is legally required from me. And I have never been arrested or have received anything worse than a speeding ticket, in case you want to know.
If these kids had blissfully “respected” (read: kowtowed) to this cop, this asshat would still be on the streets “protecting” (read: enforcing his will upon) others.
I prefer to believe that the world would be a better place if respect wasn’t automatic. People would actually have to earn (read: be honorable, nice, etc.) the respect of others. Amazing!
There’s a difference between respect and courtesy. I’ll be courteous to the biggest asshole around but I don’t respect anyone who starts yelling about not calling him dude or man.
What is so disrespectful about calling someone dude or man? Am I supposed to be mad when my students call me dude or man?
Even if the kids were being total asses does that give the cop a good excuse to act like one back? Don’t the kids deserve some courtesy just as much as he does?

It isn’t the captcha that I hate. It is the spam filter. I am registered. Because I comment from different computers (at home, at work, etc.) my comments regularlly get sent to “moderation” which means that they never appear if I don’t have different names for each location.

Obviously you don’t know as much as you let on you do. He was democratically elected. He did his job as he was entitled to do. He was illegally removed from a council meeting. for women Like many viewers, I watched this ABC 20/20 report when it first aired
in December with jaws-open, eyes-bugging horror. It told the story of two women
workers for Halliburton/KBR who had been sent to Iraq. There, one, Jamie Lee
Jones, a young computer tech, was gang-raped on her fourth day by coworkers
after being drugged; the other, Tracy Barker, was sexually assaulted by a State
Department employee. Both immediately reported their assaults, only to have
KBR first lock them in isolation, then question their accusations. In the case
of Jones, it even "lost" the medical report that documented evidence
of gang rape.

This is proof we need protection from criminals and cops alike, I am 51 years old what I have seen is that many of our police officers were kids who were bullied when they were kids and when they grew up and got a badge they turned it around and become big bullies. Most likely when officer Riviera was a kid some skate boarder beat him up LOL Officer Rivera I know by now you are either unemployed or under investigation, either way I would like it very much if you would come visit me so I could whip your pussy ass.
