The Pentagon is not prepared to respond to a catastrophic chemical, biological or nuclear attack within the United States, placing Americans at risk, an independent panel reported to Congress.

While the Defense Department conducts exhaustive planning for operations overseas, its planning for possible action inside the United States in response to attacks is inadequate, said the Commission on the National Guard and Reserves.

“We looked at their plans. They’re totally unacceptable,” said commission chairman Arnold Punaro, a retired Marine Corps major general.

“You couldn’t move a Girl Scout unit with the kind of planning they’re doing,” Punaro said of plans drafted by U.S. Northern Command, the part of the military responsible for homeland defense.

The klowns running our government are consistent. They don’t get much of anything else right, either.

Meanest looking Girl Scout I ever saw. Probably could kick the crap out of the Chickenhawk Brigade in Congress and the White House.

  2. Improbus says:

That is what Washington DC needs … Natural Selection with Extreme Prejudice and automatic weapons.

  3. GigG says:

Of course if they were ready there would be a post here with the headline “Pentagon Plans for Domestic Takeover Exposed!!!”

  4. Dallas says:

But we ARE ready for Russian thermonuclear attack. When I go to sleep, this is what I fear the most.

  5. Angus says:

Who would attack us? I thought we were the aggressers?

  6. James Hill says:

Non-story: The question is if Homeland Security is ready. The title Defense Department is only in place to placate those that don’t care for the more descriptive title “War Department”.

    Nice try, however, ya hack.

  7. keane-o says:

Phew. At least the only folks unconcerned are the nutballs who would favor the country being run by the Pentagon from the gitgo.

Though, it is a chuckle since they’re always babbling about terrorists under the bedstead.

  8. eyeofthetiger says:

    I’ve been masturbating since noon.

  9. James Hill says:

#7 – Idiotic post. I command you to stop posting here.

  10. Jamie says:

HEY! she was one of the top snipper in the RED Army during WWII.

iirc she got wounded after 100+ NAZI kills.

  11. ECA says:

    Pentagon ISNT for national defense.

THATS part of the national Guards Job..

  12. amodedoma says:

What kind of preparedness does it show when foreign nationals hijack a plane and crash it into their headquarters? Seems the pentagon is more interested in generating insecurity to justify their enormous budget, than getting the job done. If big government is bad, imagine big military – where much of the administration is kept secret, all in the name of national security.

  13. Don says:

It is not the Military’s job to provide internal security or respond to disasters inside the US. If they have resources that can help in an emergency they must be requested by FEMA and the state governments. FEMA, is controlled by homeland security. That wonderful agency that gets it’s jollies frisking down Grandma at the airport. I feel so safe.

It’s the military’s job to go to foreign lands, meet new and intersting people, and kill them.

    Don

  14. Todd Henkel says:

Let’s of criticism but not many suggestions… This is an intelligent forum, so let’s discuss. How do we make the country safer? And how do we make politicians of both parties see the light? Or is there a threat at all?

  15. Rick Cain says:

So exactly why do we have a pentagon anyway if they’re not ready for an attack?
We managed to have do fine without a pentagon from 1776-1941.
