My suggestion for a name would be ‘Vend-A-Toke.’
Pot vending machines take root in L.A.
The city that popularized the fast food drive-thru has a new innovation: 24-hour medical marijuana vending machines.
Patients suffering from chronic pain, loss of appetite and other ailments that marijuana is said to alleviate can get their pot with a dose of convenience at the Herbal Nutrition Center, where a large machine will dole out the drug around the clock.
“Convenient access, lower prices, safety, anonymity,” inventor and owner Vincent Mehdizadeh said, extolling the benefits of the machine.
But federal drug agents say the invention may need unplugging.
Interestingly, drug dispensing machines have been around for a while.
Right up next to the window so my friends and I may loop a big chain around it and drag it out of the parking behind my 4X4!
Can I get one for my den or dining room?
Drive through liquor stores are just fine though!
DRIVE through!!!!
Legalize it, and tax it.
I don’t care if you are pro-legalazation, pro-medical MJ. This is a bad idea.
#4 care to elaborate?
If there’s one thing I hate it’s people making statements without evidence/reason!
Is the weed in buds, or pre-rolled?
Forget legalization, just FREE THE WEED!
Heck, it’s a freakin’ weed! It grows wild, if allowed, in most places in this country.
Before its prohibition, the weed was used to make rope, paper, and clothing. It could open up a whole new area in our economy…
FREE THE WEED!
If you want weed to remain a criminal offense, than along that logic, you have to reinstate the prohibition on alcohol!
What you buy from a vm in one state, gets you 20 years in another, oh the justice. ?
Just what Americans need – easier access to medication obviously to counter act stuff like this…

This guy really missed the boat. MJ on one side, ding-dongs and chips (or #9 TH’s delightful snack) on the other, and you could call it “Weed ‘n’ Feed.”
[Har! – ed.]
I wonder how much money is wasted in the pursuit of tracking down and disposing of Marijuana instead of spending it on things we really could use. (Things like better healthcare, improving our standard of living, etc.) You know it’s a hefty sum.
By the way, I wonder how many of those vending machines I could fit in MY den!
I suggest “Toke-A-Mat.”
Toke-N-Blo
Hef-N-Puff
Weed-N-Me
Safety-Smoke

As a pro-legal guy, you are right. Very bad idea.

It’s a vending machine that uses biometrics. There is a very good chance that the biometrics can fail, and then how is the client supposed to get their pot?
🙂
Seriously, it’s a good business idea and it seems that steps have been taken to ensure only those with scrips can use them, but its a vending machine… it seems to offer too many avenues for circumventing the security.

I don’t know… but 70% of the drug war is aimed at marijuana and 99.9987% of the drug related social problems we face are related to every drug except marijuana.
Why is this a bad idea? The only reason would be the current legal status of marijuana, and THAT is the problem that needs to be addressed, not this machine. The machine is fine, its a great idea.
I love how when anyone talks about this they make it sound like the machines are just sitting on street corners with absolutely no verification of who uses it or security

Really?
Is there another thread about this? Because that isn’t how this one reads.
#4 I don’t think that any mind altering substance should be sold to minors and there is no way a vending machine is going to be able to card you in a way kids aren’t going to be able to get around. There is a reason you don’t see cigarette vending machines any more.
As far as the whole legalization question goes this medical MJ crap is for the birds. They need to tax it and sell it in the liquor stores. I’m sure the BATF&E would love to add another initial. It would give them a great acronym BATFEM. Then we could call them the jackbooted thugs from BatFem.

WHAT!?!?!
Dude… Seriously… Read the article. These machines are located inside the offices of the medical marijuana co-ops, and they use biometrics, including a fingerprint reader, to ensure that unauthorized people can’t get at the stuff.
#16 – What I said in #17… Sorry… I take it back.
this is such a great concept to be put together.why isnt this guy have the patent in the patent office….without that paper he wont go too far but w/ the guy that owns it they can make nore noney than could imagine. he knows who to contact. good luck
