PERKEL SEZ:
I’ll take you on John. I’m willing to bet 2 things:
1) Hillary takes the Dem nomination.
2) Hillary wins a landslide victory.
And ….
My more longshot predictions:
1) McCain wins the Republican nomination. (Because like Bob Dole – it’s his turn.)
2) McCain picks Lieberman for VP.
Almost 1 million people whose votes don’t count went out to vote for Hillary. Yes, Florida voters might be naive locals, but they represent a cross section of the naive locals that make up the American voter.
DVORAK RESPONDS:
Saying McCain winning the nomination is a longshot prediction shows to me that you have not been following any threads of reality, which is ironic since you run the Church of Reality. And, as for Florida… it’s a state of retirees and strippers.
The bet is simple with the terms of the bet to be discussed privately on an Indian reservation. My position is that any Republican will win the Presidency in 2008. Now that you bring up the landslide concept I’ll make a second bet if you can define “landslide.” And since you parroted that ludicrous idea that Lieberman (already a loser as VP candidate) would for some perverse reason be the VP chosen by McCain, I’ll make a third bet and give you odds on that one.
PERKEL RESPONDS:
Actually the Lieberman part is the long shot. I agree than McCain will be the nominee because for Republicans, it’s his turn. Just like in 1996 it was Bob Dole’s turn. I’m also going to predict that one week from today (Feb 6th) that Obama drops out of the race.
The Republicans might win if Obama is the candidate. He has the shortest resume of all the candidates and even though liberals will give him an affirmative action vote, the Republicans won’t. If Hillary wins, which I’m predicting, then Hillary clobbers McCain. He’s admitted, as Romney point out, that he doesn’t know anything about the economy and he sees the Iraq war lasting 50-100 years.
does it matter who wins? we are already well on our way to being completely Fuked
1980, Democrats have higher turnout in the primaries, and again in 1988.
Neither Clinton nor Obama will win against McCain. Anybody that believes otherwise is a complete and utter moron…
http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/john_mccain_match_ups/election_2008_mccain_vs_clinton_and_obama
The latest Rasmussen Reports survey of Election 2008 shows Republican frontrunner Senator John McCain with single-digit leads over Democratic Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. McCain now leads Clinton 48% to 40%. He leads Barack Obama 47% to 41%.
In a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted mid-January, McCain was two points behind Clinton, five behind Obama. A couple days later McCain won the South Carolina primary.
McCain has led Clinton in four of the last five polling match-ups conducted by Rasmussen Reports. He has had the edge over Obama in three of the last four polls. (see history and trends). Following his victory in Florida, Rasmussen Markets data indicates that McCain is the overwhelming favorite for the Republican Presidential nomination.
Where’s Pat Paulson when you need him?
Pat Paulson makes as much sense as what we have today…

It really doesn’t matter if Hillary or Obamba get the presidential nomination as either of them will ensure a Republican gets back in the White House.

#66 TIHZ_HO, That was Perfect!!
Mr. Dvorak and all the tech talk guys out there in California were also the ones saying Blu-ray didn’t have a chance. Not the best prognosticators.
The Great Disconnect is steadily growing, more and more people are tuning out the media, the government, moving off the grid, not paying taxes and turning down, just a little bit, the damned TV. We still have a bunch of kick ass people in this country, but it’s hard to get past the power mad politicians and the “Give Me Everything, Right Fuckin’ Now” bunch, who voted them in.
#68 Uh, Speaking of Blu Ray…
I just came back from my local neighborhood DVD shop in Shanghai (Gubei)and what did I find…? Blu Ray and HD DVD discs!! ($2 a disc) Not many titles but WTF!! I was told by the shop attendant that the Blu Ray discs will not play in a DVD player but the HD DVD discs are multi-formated and will.
Leave it to China! 😆 Next week I’m going shopping for a Blu Ray player! Woo Hoo! ~(_8(°) I’ll keep all of you posted.
Sorry for the off topic post John.

Not off topic at all. Politicians like to take things from people without compensation too, usually through third parties.
So mperkel has decided he will support the candidate using a racist Southern strategy.
No matter who becomes President, I know who won’t win.
Us.
#2 – I also have predicted that Obama will be assassinated, but I think it will be a by a Clinton operative. If he’s still viable after Super Tuesday, watch for it.
#39 – I hadn’t thought of that one, but considering the Clintons it’s plausible.
This is why Hillary has been so familiar to me all this time, its not Bill at all, its this!!

Some comments believe Bush will not be a factor in the next election.
Let’s see, Bush vetoes the new Wiretap law because it didn’t give immunity to the Telcos. How many Republicans joined with the Democrats to over ride the veto?
The country wants to expand health care to poor people. Congress passes a revised law to that effect. Bush vetoed it. How many Republicans joined with the Democrats to over ride the veto?
The majority want America out of Iraq. Bush vetoes the Supplementary Spending bill because it contained a troop withdraw part. How many Republicans joined the Democrats to over ride the veto.
Bush will be a factor !!! Big time. All the Democrats need do is remind people how their well paying manufacturing jobs were out sourced to China, point out that gas was around $1.25/g and today hovers around $3.00 and up, and that in real dollars, their wages are worth much less today than in 2000.
Americans are not stupid. Well, the ones voting Democrat aren’t. They can recognize the fiasco we are in is not just because of Bush. His minions in Congress deserve a healthy dose of criticism too and this will tell come November. It is either distance themselves from Bush or go down in flames.
Of coarse, stalwart Republicans like Trent Lott, David Vitter, and Larry Craig will spoil any chance of the Republicans claiming to represent what is good in society.
#77 Mister Catshit – It is my understanding that Bush is meant to be a “lame Duck” president with a Democrats congress – if that is true then WTF??
Cheers
So now the governor is responsible for every death in his state? This is as bad as saying George Bush is responsible for all those AIDS deaths.
