Probably planned to post a video afterwards?

A woman was arrested this week after she allegedly tried to hire a hitman to murder her married lover’s wife by posting an ad on the popular website craigslist.

Anne Marie, 48, from Grand Rapids, Michigan offered www.craigslist.org users the chance to kill Carol, a 56-year-old woman in California, in a vaguely worded free ad under the category of “Freelance,” according to court documents.

“Marie informed (one of the people who responded) that she was looking for ‘silent assassins’ and she asked him to eradicate a targeted victim,” offered 5,000 dollars for the job and provided the address, name, age and occupation of the man’s wife.

“Asked what she meant by ‘eradicate,’ Anne Marie said ‘Duh. Well to have her killed,” the court documents said.

Did she comprehend just how public the Internet really is?

The only reason I’ve been married forever: my wife and I have both seen too many CSIs.

Is this too serious to be considered for a DipDork award or a King Kahuna Moron award?

By the way, I was relieved to see AFP put the cutline, “Crime scene tape” under the photograph of the crime scene tape.

Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known it was crime scene tape.

Craigslist could have gotten blamed had the plot worked out. A very little known case pretty much was the first case of a book being banned via legal action.

#3 – I am offering $5000 to anyone who kills Night Ranger.*

    *not a real offer**

**it’s sad that I have to specify that just because some dipdork might take it seriously

  7. bobbo says:

#6–I accept your not real offer with my not real acceptance. Now, we can both shake in fear Night Ranger does not meet a tragic end, eat Hagis, or get dropped by their label, if they still have a label, if the label is still in existence?

All I remember about Night Ranger is that they were loud. Not 11 loud, but maybe 9.5?

It’s not like she’d seem any more intelligent by posting in a newspaper’s classified pages (the RL equivalent of craigslist). She definitely sounds deserving of a DD or KKM award.

Then again, she apparently got a lot more attention than I did with my craigslist posting, and I’m just trying to sell a Nordic Track elliptical. Her lack of sense apparently is made up for with a knack for good marketing. I should have her re-write my posting.

  9. bobbo says:

    Jamie–here you go:

WANTED: Freelance silent assassin to eradicate a Nordic Track elliptical. Will pay $5000 on completion.

You see, big difference between selling and buying.

  10. Jamie says:

    Bobbo,

True, but I had thought she might be able to give my posting a nice “spin,” since she manages to hook people with “Freelance”, and doesn’t say anything about assassins until they respond to the ad. Managed to hook them with mystery or sumphin.

I’m quite capable of eradicating my elliptical in rather dramatic manner if I so desired, so buying wouldn’t quite work for me.

I am offering $5000 to anyone who can kill Night Ranger WITH a Nordic Track Elliptical.*

An addition $2500 bonus if the act is done during a live performance of Sister Christian.*

    .

    *still not a real offer**

**it’s still sad that I have to specify that just because some dipdork might take it seriously***

***Sadder still that I don’t actually have $7500 in spare change to pay out the contract were it in fact a real offer, which it is not

    Hmmm…(pondering) *

    * I’m not taking it seriously, but if I were (which I’m not) it’d present some interesting logistical challenges. **

** I’m NOT thinking about needing a large trebuchet, copious amounts of gasoline, tannerite, a case of slinkies, and depleted uranium…just so you know. ***

*** Nothing to see here, move along.

  13. OhForTheLoveOf says:

#12 – But if you were thinking about all that, you’d finally move that Nordic Track…

And with the right bargain shopping for a large trebuchet, copious amounts of gasoline, tannerite, a case of slinkies, and depleted uranium, you might even turn a small profit 😉
