You’re probably right. The characters looks like Kanji, especially when comparing pain from this tattoo with the two left words on their board game.
No, it is Chinese but I think it is from Taiwan. The Taiwanese have a great feel for black humor. Since they average 4 earthquakes, 4 typhoons and have over 1000 missiles from the mainland pointed at them you can understand why.
Beautiful island though. Highly recommend you visit.
