I just got back from Macworld, and overall I wasn’t terribly impressed. Everything Jobs rolled out in his keynote missed the mark, conference goers didn’t score as much swag as in the past, and about a third of the exhibitors were selling iPod cases.

Personally, I’m wondering when the spec update to the MacBook Pro is coming.

  2. TIHZ_HO says:

Sprint in trouble is no surprise – ask anyone who has Sprint and actually has to go somewhere.

Seems to me that the US mobile phone service is all about bells and whistles instead of being what it should be, a telephone network.

Anyone who has been to say China for a while would know exactly what I mean. Even Indonesia has a better mobile phone network than the US! Indonesia better than the US?!? Damn!

China – 200m internet users – ADSL, the US how many use still use dial-up?

C’mon, wake up guys and smell the coffee. 😉 Wait, that coffee is that French vanilla flavoured pap so you can’t taste how bad it is…

    Cheers

John, I hate to disagree with you – after all computers have been your game for a very long time. Nevertheless here is the “BUT”…Windows Vista is version 6 counting along one line from Windows 3.0.

    Version 3

    Windows 3.0, 3.1, 3.11

    Version 4

    Windows 95 4.00.950 (Original release)
    Windows 95 4.00.950 A OEM (SR 1)
    Windows 95 4.00.950 B ORS2 (Fat32)
    Windows 95 4.00.950 C OSR2 (FAT32,USB & AGP
    Windows 98 4.10.1691 (Beta)
    Windows 98 4.10.1998 (Original release)
    Windows 98 4.10.2222A (SE)
    Windows ME 4.90.3000 (Original release)

    Version 5

Windows XP 5.1.2600 (home & professional)
    Windows XP 5.2 (2003 Sp2, 64)

    Version 6

    Windows Vista 6.00.xxxx

So any major Windows release after Vista will be version 7

I can understand all the various re-releases and upgrades it would be around 20+ as you said.

    Cheers

  4. James Armstrong says:

Well, its a good thing that you never get excoriated here at least.

  5. Peter Rodwell says:

We have to wait until 2009 for Win 7? Just how long does it take to go through the source code and documentation, replacing “Vista” with “Seven”?

  6. TIHZ_HO says:

#5 Peter Rodwell – Right thats a simple find and replace!

From what I have read the release date of Windows 7 code name Vienna is LATE 2009 ~ 2010. Maybe 2009 for the Beta release. 😉

Windows Vista is version 6 counting along one line from Windows 3.0

Where are NT 3.51 and 4.0, and Windows 2000!?

‘Bundling’ like your 95=98=ME doesn’t work, either

    J/P=?

  8. Improbus says:

By 2009 I will have no Microsoft products in my home. Yay!

  9. moss says:

The only EVDO card user in our family has a Dell with no PC card slot – either of the versions available. When he signed up with his provider, they had a PC to USB dongle on hand for a few bucks.

    No excoriation here, John.
