Oh damn, I just had a nightmare about Yoko singing this…
brilliant!
Wrong! Elvis wrote “Stairway to Heaven”. It was changed a little to fit some crappy movie and renamed “Viva Las Vegas!”.
That’s awesome! I wonder if they do any other Led Zep covers? I couldn’t see any on BoobTube.
Who made that? That is awesome version.
Thats amazing!
Copyright infringement somebody alert the RIAA!!!!
Suppose it had actually been Led Zeppelin that wrote the main riff of the song instead of Spirit, two years earlier.
I had a little trouble finding just an MP3 of the song. This slideshow does have the complete music.

Important question:
Does anybody remember Ringo?
#9 – Sviergn,
Yes. But does anybody remember Pete Best?
#9 – Sviergn Jiernsen
“Important question:
Does anybody remember Ringo?”
Yes. His AA sponsor.
#10 Fender Doc:
What would be really cool is the old Beatles circa 1964 covering the later Beatles material:
– Come Together
– I Am the Walrus
– Revolution 9
PS – “Does anybody remember Ringo?” was a reference to live performances of Stairway (specifically on “The Song Remains the Same” soundtrack) – after singing “and the forests will echo with laughter” Plant would bemusedly ask “DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER LAUGHTER?”
It becomes painful (cf. funny) if you have to explain them…
Yoko sings?!? I thought that was her cat screeching after it got it’s tail caught in a meat grinder during the recording of the Double Fantasy album.
This comes from the Australian TV comedy show “the Money or the Gun” hosted by a funny bloke called Andrew Denton.
Each week he closed the show with a cover of stairway to heaven in a different genre by many of the popular artists at the time, about 25 all told.
I remember the rolf haris one in particular as being side cracking. (cheesy Oz kids entertainer.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy5KjaAS7nY
Towards the end of the show Robert Plant and Jimmy Page came on his show and did a rolf harris song.
Great video! Whoever the Beatnix are, I’d love to hear them do more of this sort of thing. They might make the pop dreck of the last 20 years more palatable……
(Nothing against Led Zep, whose version is definitive.)
Ringo, BTW, may be the luckiest man on the face of the earth. Imagine (you can if you try) a funny-looking, halfway decent drummer joining a bunch of geniuses, making a gazillion dollars, singing on Sgt. Pepper, and being happily married to a Bond girl! Who sez fairy tales don’t come true?????
Good point, BigE. Who would have ever thought the glass slipper fit Ringo’s foot?
evil, pure evil
This is a rip-off of an SCTV skit from the late 70’s or early 80’s; an album called “Stairways to Heaven”. 30 versions of “Stairway” performed by the likes of Pavaroti, Slim Whitman, Barry White and my favorite Rich Little! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USh-msend-o
Alas, the YouTube video is now no longer available.
#20: It’s still there for me.
it certainly a bad enough song to have been written by them
#8 – Wow, do you ever have a “line on them”..
I did not know they were responsible for such a lovely melody. A friend had a couple of their albums but, I paid little attention beyond Fresh Garbage and Line on You. Wonder if he still has them….hmmm..
Thanks !
Hmmm, Do we want to hold her hand as she buys her stairway to heaven? I’d say that’s something that would certainly change the road I’m on. ;}
cool vid
What if the Doors had done it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3iM63kqnwY
How about the Doors…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3iM63kqnwY
Do a search on Youtube for stairway to heaven aussie and you will see several of these. What a hoot!
This is from the Aussie TV show “The Money or the Gun” with a new cover version of “Stairway to Heaven” – 22 cover versions in all.
The Elvis on is great!
Cheers
Another great video. And lots of great links too. Loved all of them.

I don’t want to nitpick, but their “Paul McCartney” isn’t playing his bass guitar lefthanded.
I was lookin stuff up about this song. my husband thought it was the beatles who originally sang it BUT i come to a conclution that i can’t find any date of the song sung by the beatles BUT i did find a date for led zeppelin 1970-1971…1970 the recorded the song & 1971 it came out in stores. SO to answer everyones question. Led Zeppelin is the one who sang it first.
