This is for all the fools who keep commenting that the reductions in freedoms Bush & Co. have enacted don’t affect them. Maybe not yet, but given how invasive these changes are to what were once considered sacrosanct rights, it’s just a matter of time. How much you bet they’ll then be the ones whining the loudest?

BTW, notice which channel this is from? If Fox News thinks it’s a bad problem, we’re really in trouble.

  1. Angus says:

Do Clinton and Obama, along with an all Democrat congress, promise to return our rights when they get into office? I doubt it…

  2. jlm says:

hopefully this will be a wakeup for some of the braindead

although I’m eager to see how Fox spins it 100% against the Dems next time.

  3. Great White North says:

Glad that I’m not an American. Watch what you say Leo Laporte.

  4. bac says:

I doubt the democrats will change a thing. It took 13 years to repeal the 18th Amendment. Drinking alcohol is more visible than the reductions of freedom that have been passed in recent years, so it will take quite a while before people wise up.

It really shouldn’t be so easy to take away freedoms, but sadly it is.

  5. Mr. Fusion says:

“Yup, buy my book and I’ll tell you why the incoming Democratic President will be bad. Forget that my network and I, Judge Napolitano, supported the Patriot Act and said those who voted against it are delusional and terrorist supporters.

“Be afraid people, be very afraid. The Democrats are coming and they will change the cozy world I and my Neo-Con friends enjoy. For the next eight years, at least, look forward to my blathering at how bad the government is.”

  6. Dallas says:

I doubt democrats can fix things anytime soon.

The Bush regime has installed it’s cronies so far into our judicial system that we are screwed for at least two decades regardless.

The only way out of this is for President Hillary to declare a national emergency to restore our civil liberties and take draconian actions:
    (1) Restore all civil liberties prior to Bush
    (2) Execution by hanging of the Bush administration for treason.
    (3) Shut down GOP-TV Fox News for criminal negligence and treason.
    (4) Tax all churches for an amount that equals the national debt.
    (5) Declare the GOP as a terrorist organization.

  7. Smith says:

Of course the Democrats won’t give our freedoms back. Whose damn idea was it to create the Department of Homeland Security? Whose damn idea was it to federalize airport securtiy?

  8. FRAGaLOT says:

    @ #7
Surely you’re joking. That would put you at the same level as how you’re making the Bush Administration to be. Declaring the GOP as a terrorist organization? I’m not sure if I should crack up laughing, or be appalled. If I become president I’ll declare Dallas is a douche bag. :p

The really sad thing is this won’t happen. The big problem with laws is they almost never rarely get removed. Even state propositions that are written to be “temporary” that often raise money to fund some project never go away even after the project is completed.

Once a law creates a new bureaucracy (as did the patriot act) creating jobs for people; said people don’t want to work towards a goal where they won’t have a job anymore.

In California, how many laws have been passed that raised taxes to fix roads and buildings from quake damage? It never ends! Then again the quakes never stop…

The only reason Prohibition was cut out of the constitution was the government was able to increase revenues from alcohol taxes and tariffs. So brew your own beer!

  9. the Three-Headed Cat says:

Yes, the irony of a commentary (if that’s what you call an advertisement for the commentator’s book) that slams Repug policies appearing on the channel that’s the designated house organ of the GOP is amusing, but actually it’s part of a campaign to dilute viewers’ perception of Faux News as being the Republican Party’s amen corner, since viewership there is on a steady decline, so a smattering of arm’s-length criticism of far-right policies is being inserted quietly and without fanfare, to be ramped up soon as long as their critics don’t seem to notice.

Certain Faux traditions die hard, though. I couldn’t help but notice how our pal the judge cites Ben Franklin almost verbatim while letting the viewer assume that the sentiment is the judge’s own original thought – and many Faux viewers, being blue-collar sheeple with GEDs, will do exactly that…

Oh, well, as they say, if you’re gonna steal, steal from the best.

  10. JimR says:

Okay, fine. The Patriot act stinks. Can you do anything about it? Will you?

  11. lividluddite says:

I Thank God every day, I no longer Live in this f#%&ked up country, I had the sense to move to Europe a decade ago and I’ve never looked back (with envy). If you can’t fix it, F*%& It!

  12. njk says:

#7. You’re a moron. A blithering idiot simpleton. That you can post on this blog speaks volumes to its standards. Please step away from the keyboard and go back to your job as level 1 support on the Butterball hotline. It’s going to get busy again in about a month. They’ll need you.

Hang Bush, Shut down Fox news, declare the GOP a terrorist organization.

Hugo Chavez thinks you’re over the top.

  13. Mr. Fusion says:

    #8, Smith,

Whose damn idea was it to create the Department of Homeland Security? Whose damn idea was it to federalize airport securtiy?

    A: The White House.

B: The Democrats wanted to federalize airport security, the same as Border Guards did. Up to that point the Airlines were responsible for their own security checks, with poor screening by minimum wage “rent a screener” firms. Unfortunately, the Republicans wrote the law and implemented the results.

  14. Radcliff says:

What is going to stop this is a conservative court which rules by precedent and principle not fame and fashion.
You clowns always bash Fox but it is the only channel that has both conservative and liberal pundits on its panels. Liberals love diversity and the free exchange of ideas until somebody actually disagrees with them. Then they scream, boycott and throw pies.

  15. Dallas says:

#13 and the other guy…Mission accomplished. I got you and the other “GOP is never wrong” die hards here in a huffy. Don’t worry, you’re safe. Nobody is going to hang W or declare the GOP a terrorist org. You will be treated like that crazy aunt in the basement. You want to kill her, but you feel sympathy ad compassion knowing it’s family. But, ya better look behind your shoulder 🙂

We are a tolerant and resilient nation. We persevere even after off the wall, hypocritical and destructive organizations like the GOP, the church and loony tunes like W run the place. We simply clean up the mess and move on.

  16. the Three-Headed Cat says:

“You clowns always bash Fox but it is the only channel that has both conservative and liberal pundits on its panels.”

Ooo, yas. Those tame, weak-as-water caricatures of knee-jerk liberalism who hired on as let’s-pretend “opposition”? Those the “liberal pundits” you talkin’ ’bout, Willis?

    Ya. Pffft.

  17. Steve says:

#16 D – Just so long as you don’t lump all of us into the same basket. I’m a Republican and don’t agree with the Patriot Act and I’ll be the first to help support anyone who can get it thrown out.

    Steve-o

  18. Smith says:

    #14, Fusion,

It was the Democrats and the 911 Commission that recommended all federal agencies — CIA, FBI, NSA — report to a single head, and the Department of Homeland Security was born. Bush initially resisted that effort, but quickly changed his mind. What Bush did with this newfound authority makes me sick.

As for airport screening: What people seem to never understand is that the airport screeners were never responsible for 9/11. Prior to 9/11, box cutters were never considered weapons. Hell, I use fly with a pocket knife that was far more formidable a weapon than box cutters. When I flew, that knife went into a the plastic tray for all to see when I went through screening. I’m sure the terrorists did the same with their box cutters. WE FIXED SOMETHING THAT WASN’T BROKE, and lost part of our freedom in the process. This wasn’t Bush’s fault (or not directly); it was the typical, irrational behavior of a busybody Congress responding to a crises.

  19. Mister Mustard says:

    >>You clowns always bash Fox but it is the
    >>only channel that has both conservative
    >>and liberal pundits on its panels.

“liberal pundits”?? who are you talking about? that sad, bedraggled, limpwristed, pussywhipped doormat Alan Colmes?

Hoo boy. If that’s “diversity”, you can keep it.

  20. Shadowbird says:

While Fox News is trying to spin it as a slur on the Dems, it really should be a slur on all politicians. This year’s presidential election theme song should be “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by the Who for two lines:

“And the world looks just the same, and history ain’t changed…”

“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”

  21. Aaron_W says:

That is a prime example of 9/10 thinking. Just THINKING about potential abuses of the Patriot Act will lead to thousands of Americans DYING!!!!!!

  22. Rance Mohanitz says:

    #13, #9
    I think #7 was satirical.

  23. partisan bs says:

This debate, like all political debates in the US has devolved into Dims vs. Pugs. Ever heard of divide and conquer, morons?

And about those “god-given” rights that Napolitano talks about, sorry, I don’t believe in God. There were countless religion-based governments that had no freedom of speech (or any other kind of freedom). What do I believe in? The two Thomases, Jefferson and Paine.

  24. sadtruth says:

#25 just beat me to it but….

who is this god fellow, and when did it give me this right to privacy? I don’t remember, was I knocked out on ruffies? If i did get these rights, where is god now? where can i buy his book?… oh wait.

  25. poor guy says:

As my black friend say’s “The roosters have come home to roost.” Welcome to what it’s like to be poor or a minority.

  26. Phillep says:

#24, Rance, I don’t know Dallas well enough to know that. I’ve seen bratty leftards who believe exactly what was posted.

Back in ’94 during the gun control debates, nobody, and that’s /NOBODY/, could say anything, no matter how stupid, as a satire on the gun control crowd without half the gun control supporters screaming agreement. Amazing.

I’ve seen people involved with football riots who were more level headed than some of the gun control crowd, and anti-Bush crowd, on the net.

  27. AdmFubar says:

Wow! what a 5 min infomercial for his book…
just another stinking republican wanting you to buy what he is selling…………
    :P:P:P:P:P:P

  28. Gasbag says:

All I have to say is “Braaaa”

  29. Mr. Fusion says:

    #28, Phillep,

Back in ‘94 during the gun control debates, nobody, and that’s /NOBODY/, could say anything, no matter how stupid, as a satire on the gun control crowd without half the gun control supporters screaming agreement.

While by now I’m sure you realize the error, I believe you meant “pro gun” and “gun control”. Which is which is irrelevant as they could be switched either way.

My point is satire is very tricky to use effectively. If you are the side being ridiculed, it is not funny. If you are the side making the joke, it is always funny when it is at the opposition’s expense. When an issue is highly polarized, as with gun control or abortion, there can be no middle ground and feelings are quite on edge. You will seldom, if ever, see either satirized.

As for being level headed concerning the “gun control crowd” and anti-Bush crowd, I am perplexed. On this blog the gun enthusiasts rule. As for Bush, well, when your approval ratings are less than 25% and disapproval at 60% then I would think any anti-Bush rhetoric is well earned.

  30. single minded says:

Most cant get it, the 2 party system is an illusion and they have you right where they (want) you, argueing party politics while they continue pulling the freedom carpet from underneath you…enjoy.
