What, did the the ride ops screw up and turn the lights on?

  2. McCullough says:

Even scarier when you can SEE all the things that can maim or dismember you.

  3. OmegaMan says:

I actually had the privilege of riding it with the lights on last summer. Some unknown event, to us riders, caused the lights to go on and all cars to stop at predetermined locations. The crew came out and started each car closest to the end individually, with the lights on mind you, back towards the starting location.

Got to ride it again due to the malfunction, but entirely in the dark. Its interesting to see it in the light…

A few years back I got to ride it with the lights on. It was an event for Annual Pass holders (back when they did special things for Annual Pass holders, now they just give you opportunities to spend more money /gripe). The support structure does seem to be mighty close. We also got to walk through some of the other rides, like Snow White.

  5. J says:

I lost a ball cap to the wind jamming from one of those supports.

I haven’t been on Space Mountain in like 25 years, and I know it’s a lot different now visually but damn they downgraded it!

  7. Mr. Fusion says:

The lights were on but no one was home.

  8. jdm says:

They renovated Space Mountain at Disneyland back in 2005. I was able to ride it about two weeks before the shutdown. It had been 25 years since I was on it, but everything looked the same as when I was a teenager. I haven’t been on it since the update because I want to remember the campy-goodness that it was.
