Jellyfish INVASION! FYI

A call has gone out to beachcombers, fish farmers, boatmen and anyone else on Scotland’s coast to prepare for the invasion of the jellyfish.

Earlier this week it was revealed the invaders had choked Northern Ireland’s only fish farm, killing 100,000 fish and causing £1 million of damage.

Today it was reported around 140,000 young salmon have been killed north of Belfast and around 15 miles from a the first incident.

Now huge numbers of the stinging baby jellyfish are swarming in Scottish waters and yesterday the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) launched a recruitment drive for volunteer sentries on our beaches to maintain a lookout.

They are to report any sighting of these unseasonal blooms

  1. James Hill says:

It’s a safe bet that once jellyfish are spotted, nothing will be done to stop them.

However, equating bible thumpers to environmentalists is brilliant. Well done.

  2. wgnwhls says:

The beauty is, if you try to kill off jellyfish in mass numbers, it triggers their reproductive mechanism. So just when you think you got them, you have thousands more on their way. Ask Japan about that.

  3. McCullough says:

At least they are slow and easy to out swim.

  4. infamousjeff says:

Jellyfish are actually quite tasty. I had a great appetizer at a sushi place recently. So whats the problem? Tasted like spicy calamari. 🙂

  5. JimR says:

I also had jellyfish for he first time just recently, and I agree, they’re just like calamari. Yum. The Irish fish farm should just harvest the buggers, recoup their losses and get out of the fish farm business. Farmed fish are mushy and awful tasting anyway.

  6. Actually, this quantity of jellyfish is more likely the result of having killed off most of their predators than of global warming.

Between overfishing and fertilizer and other pollutant runoff, we’re essentially returning the oceans to nearly their pre-cambrian state.

It’s good to hear that jellyfish taste good, at least to some. I don’t like calamari, so probably won’t like the jellyfish either. I hope more of the population does like ’em though, cause it may be the majority of our seafood soon.

    Yuck!

    The rapture is coming!! Bingo!!

  9. Jonah Immanu says:

The Messiah, Jesus, taught the Rapture is coming says Christian Eschatological Author, Jonah Immanu, author of Alienated Planet Earth and the End that Will be oming to Our World.
You can look it up in any of the New Testament Scriptures: Matthew, Chapter 24,
verses 40 & 41 says: “Then shall two women be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.” Luke, Chapter 17, verses 34, 35 and 36 says: “I tell you in that night there shall be two men in a bed, the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding together, the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in a field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.”
From the inception of Christianity, Jesus taught of “the Rapture” despite denials by many “so-called” Christian sects such as the preterists. If you know what Jesus taught, you shall know the TRUTH and His TRUTH will make you FREE.

In the Messsiah Jesus (Hebrew: Yeshua) Name,

    Jonah Immanu, Christian Eschatological Author
