Firefighters from Quebec said they were held up at the Rouses Point border crossing while trying to provide mutual aid to firefighters battling flames at the Anchorage Inn.
Clinton County fire officials said they called Customs and Border Protection to let them know firefighters would be crossing from Canada, but the crews were still held up.
Chris Trombley from Clinton County Emergency Services said he understands the need to protect the border, but said common sense needs to be exercised in emergency situations.
Common sense? Who sets the standards for that? The meatheads in Washington?
Coming from Quebec could anyone speak english? That could of slowed things down.
Yup. Perish the thought you have anyone “defending” the border with Quebec who speaks French.
Of course, store owners the US-side do.
Don’t get all stressed. They just had to make sure they weren’t volunteer fire fighters….^_^. You wouldn’t want to be saved by a non government approved individual would you?
Your government at work …
“Sign ze papers!”
“I can’t sign ze papers!”
“Sign ze papers!”
“I can’t sign ze papers!”
“Sign ze papers!”
“I can’t sign ze papers!”
“Vhy can’t you sign ze papers?”
“You’ve broken my hands!”
Let’s see… common sense… I seem to remember some of that being around in the late ’40s and early ’50s.
These guys must have served a tour in Israel or something, where they have to stop ambulances because they are used to carry explosives by Palestinians.
There is nothing worthwhile to blow up in Rouses Point..
