The chief operating officer of the National Children’s Museum was arrested Tuesday and is charged with distributing child pornography over the Internet.

Robert A. Singer is accused of sending images depicting child pornography to people he believed to be a 12-year-old girl and her 33-year-old mother. In reality he was communicating with an undercover detective for the New York Police Department.

Some of the pornographic images were sent from Singer’s computer at the museum, according to an affidavit filed in support of the charges by a special agent who investigates child pornography and child exploitation for U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

A search of Singer’s AOL account activity showed that from July to September, he sent about 80 images featuring child pornography to people including the detective, authorities said in the statement. Also, the search revealed that he had received about 10 images and one video depicting child pornography.

I think this is termed “knocking off the low-hanging fruit”. He was using his AOL account? Cripes.

  1. Steve says:

#1 Eric – I believe groups like the ACLU put the rights of the pervert above the rights of the victims so you end up not being able to do background checks for fear of exposing yourself to a lawsuit. But then again not all perverts have an illegal background to check on so it wouldn’t make a difference in their case.

  2. moss says:

#2 – you may believe that; but, that’s not how jurisprudence works. But, then, you may believe that your tinfoil hat helps, too?

  3. Improbus says:

Anyone care to guess his political affiliation?

  4. hhopper says:

    He’s an anti-dentite?

  5. OhForTheLoveOf says:

#2 – What is it with you anti-ACLU nutballs? What a stupid thing to say, with no grounding even remotely in the vicinity of reality. Being anti-ACLU is anti-American.

The ACLU is the most important civil liberties organization in existence, and are wholly responsible for your right to be a doofus in public.

  6. Bishop Fusion says:

    #6, OFTLO,

Please, don’t use such big words with Steve. They go right over his head.

  7. Bishop Fusion says:

As soon as I read the headline, I imagined he also used his work computer. What a effen moran. AND, it was on an AOL account. I think that counts as a double moran.
